Models purchased that where built wrong
Robert M replied to gmshades's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI got 8258 when it first came out, spent a fortune so was disappointed when I couldn't get the arm to work. It baffled me for months before I finally realised that I may have built it wrong. I took it apart and re built it, it still didn't work correctly. Since then, I have taken it apart maybe ten 10 and rebuilt it, all to the same avail. I have given up and now live with the fact that I will never have it working. Just proves that no matter how simple instructions are, theres always something that can be cocked up.

DTM - German Touring Car [WIP]
Robert M replied to Lipko's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWow, never thought i'd see Technic Porn, that chassis is just damn right beautiful... wish I had the pieces :( How different is V8 Supercars? Could it have a Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore body? That would be ace.

Problem with 9398 drivetrain
Robert M replied to Snowbird's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYeah, i think that's what happened to mine. I put the 2 axles diffs the same way, which means that engine didn't turn.

problem with lego technic 9398
Robert M replied to samar's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingCheck that the number on the Receiver is in the same position that is on remote. By engine, i assume you meant motor, how long have you had 9398?

problem with lego technic 9398
Robert M replied to samar's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'd assume that you'd have the type 3 production run with the angle part, but if you have type 1 then you could have put the part upside down and locked the axle.

2013 Interesting new part: Cross Block 3X2X1
Robert M replied to skyliner's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHow do Lego come up with new parts, do they think of something which it can be used for, or do they try and build a set, but they need to make a new part to accomplish this.

9395 Tandem Wheel Option
Robert M replied to Blakbird's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingTbh, I'd prefer if Lego did put duallies on, but then again, that's because i don't have a parts collection, and wouldn't be able to do it myself. Although saying that, for the people that do have spare parts, then I'm glad that Lego left it like it is, as it gives everyone the opportunity to feel like they made an improvement.

Mods on the 9398 4x4 crawler
Robert M replied to d1ging's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have a few sets, but no spare parts, which means I can't experiment myself. How did you make it faster, by changing the gearing in the axle, but what gears did you use?

New F1 available at Argos
Robert M replied to stan_the_man's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWhy do I read eurobricks, this is costing me money. I normally like to pass on models except the Flagship, but I need to get this. In my opinion, it would have been better if they could have used a License like they did with the Unimog. It's called the Grand Prix car officially as Lego will be prohibited from using the name F1 or similar. Although it's not the best it could have been, I assume it's a great Model for the time of year it's being released, and actually looks decent.

Lego Technic 2h 2013
Robert M replied to sama's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI need to have a Mega year next year. I'd like 8069, 8109, 9397 and now 42009. I'm not too keen on the green of 42008, but I'm sure it will grown on me, as I never wanted 9398. From zooming in on the Boxes, I can vouch that 42009 will have an XL motor, with a complicated gearbox which enables it to have 4 functions, extending the boom, extending legs, lifting the boom and rotating the boom. As it has 5 axles, I think it will have 4 turning turning axles, and 1 without should be in the center. This would be the most prototypical although I don't see it being like this as it would be very expensive. I would say it's the same width as 8258 and a similar length. 42008 I think uses the wheels off of 8109 with the same tyres. I expect that it will include an L motor although the reason for this is unclear as I believe I read that it uses pneumatics. The other two sets are just the bog standard simple Lego set which has nothing really to evaluate.

Help needed with technic 4x4 crawler 9398
Robert M replied to joshbear's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI don't think it would be possible for it to be any other issue than the differentials other than the wires in the motor have been put the opposite way round. If both differentials as the same way currently, I would talk to Lego about your Motors.

power
Robert M replied to d1ging's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAhhh, meltdown, Lego has been broke, what do I do? Never seen or heard of that being done before, whats the benefit of a different power supply?

Help needed with technic 4x4 crawler 9398
Robert M replied to joshbear's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAll you need to do is switch one of the differentials around. Take the axle off, dissasemble and rebuild with the differential in the other way round and this will solve it. On the unimog, this happened to me, but because it happened, it meant that the engine didn't turn, and only with my dads knowledge did I find out why, the differentials.

Lego Technic Clones
Robert M replied to imajor's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThis thread was set up to warn people of it. Yes, they will survive, I'm not saying it won't. Fake Lego is fraudulent like many other things, but it still goes around and shouldn't. How many post have you got? 4, don't tell me what Eurobricks is about. This is a Lego forum, not a Decoo or other fake Lego companies forum so give over with your point that you can freely say this thread is about Decoo toys, it may well be but you shouldn't be supporting them.

Lego Technic Clones
Robert M replied to imajor's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLego is Lego and if you want something that you can build with instructions, or build your own creation, buy Lego. You shouldn't even be considering buying other products with similar pieces. Your on Eurobricks, a Lego forum, so don't talk about other knock of brands unless you're behind most of the members here and disagree with it. For the ones who have bought Decoo and enjoyed it, i'm ashamed. How would you like to create a unique toy only for me to come along and sell the same thing under a different name, you wouldn't so Lego doesn't either, have some respect.

help me choose only one from these sets: 8258, 9398, 8110
Robert M replied to Shu's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI'm lucky enough to have all 3 of these wonderful sets and would conclude that 8110 is the best. My crane on 8258 has been rebuilt on numerous occassions to the book as I have never got it to work, so I have given in. It might just be me, but I cant get it to work. 9398 is the most playable, but I find I have a tendency to want to push it around, which I cant. If you want a remote vehicle, then 8110 would be the best option, as it's very very easy to modify. I would say 8110 is the best by far, but would get 8258 if I was in your situation as the price can only keep on rising.

Effe's MOC Corner
Robert M replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYou build so fast, to improve on a design, do you start from scratch building the same until you need to make a change, or do you disassemble? If I we're to have Lego to build, then it'd leave it alone and start again, so I can freely look at it and see what didn't work well. I need to get my courage up and get a haul of Technic parts, wish I could Moc, but its great.

9398 - Lego Technic 4x4 Crawler
Robert M replied to AndroTech's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe early 9398 had the part that the instructions show, this was commonly put in the wrong way, which would lock the axle, and it wouldn't work. Once Lego had found that people had built it wrong, they then made another page in the instructions, specifically to make sure it didn't get built wrong. As they get built in batches, the next batch was obviously changed again, as it will be cheaper to change instructions slightly, and change the part than adding another 4 pages.

What was your LEGO Technic at x-mas 2012 ?
Robert M replied to MarkusOSX's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI got the 9398 and after the Unimog last year, that was a doddle. I have a bit of money my mum owes me, so going to ask her to repay me in lego. Hoping to get 8043, 9397, 8109 and 8069.

Why my son likes MY Technic Lego
Robert M replied to trekman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI have to be honest here, I am 16 and still haven't got to grips with how to build a '' freestyle '' studless machine. I know the knack is 10 steps in advance, and start from center, but i find it impossible. Maybe it would be better for Lego to have a race of lego using both studded and studless that integrate with each other to make it less of a move between the two. I have many technic sets, which are all standard, and cannot simply take them apart and even consider making a decent something like I could with studded.

2013 Speculation?
Robert M replied to andythenorth's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHas everyone forgotten about the Unimog? There is a load of things that Lego could reslease with regards to attachments. Maybe a trailer, maybe something that will fit on the trailer like a roller, or a mini excavator thats not so mini. Even a few different buckets. All of which could be released as different items that we keep adding to. It would also be fine for children who will have yet more playing possibilities. I didn't see the third page and just noticed it's already been said, oh well.

Robert M replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWhat happened to your tow truck and your massive flatbed lorry. It would be a shame for them to have been stalled.

MOC: Toyota Hilux, 6th generation
Robert M replied to Matija's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling^^^^ You need to give up posting comments like this, it does nothing for the builder, and is just a pain nuisance for the reader. On the other hand, the car is great, with the limited amount of parts available.
