  1. That's not quite what I'm thinking about though.. That just seems very official, and there's no discussion going on. I'm thinking of a more casual thread where people can post their ideas for minifigures, their wishlists (no matter how far-fetched) and so on. People have already been doing that in the Series 8 rumours thread, but it may be more appropriate for a general thread that isn't tied to a particular series.
  2. I'm not asking for pitch black, just a dark shade of gray rather than a dark shade of blue. Wasn't aware that there are colours available that aren't on the charts though (fairly new to LDD).. That's interesting. Still, rather cumbersome to have to use that to get a decent black when there's no real reason for the standard black to be that blue. The 109 black is a bit too dark too. A middle-ground would be nice, like so: Standard black — What I want it to look like — 109 Black
  3. Is it okay to post wishlist type stuff in this thread? I could've sworn there was a separate "Collectable Minifigures: What's On Your Wishlist?" sort of thread but I can't find one.. If there isn't, maybe there ought to be one? Just to keep the wishlists and people's own ideas separate from discussion about actual news/rumours.
  4. I'd like for the black colour to look like it's actually black, not dark blue.
  5. As much as I'd like to see LEGO do a nice, big chalet-type building, I have to admit I'd be a bit pissed if that is this year's Winter Village set and ends up being twice as expensive as the previous ones. I personally like to think of the Winter Village as a great collectable one-set-a-year theme for people who can't afford the Modulars, so if they jack up the price on the Winter Village to twice the price, people collecting them might not be able to afford the newest addition. Plus, a really big chalet would likely not fit well with the existing sets. You'd have three small buildings and then a big chalet towering over them. It'd look silly. If they really are doing a chalet, I hope it's at least about the same size as the existing buildings, and that the piece/price bump comes from peripherals (more minifigures, a car or two, a sleigh with the new horses, and so on).
  6. We were obviously very spoiled with the early details on Series 6 and 7. We're still three full months away from the "official" release of Series 8, so everyone should just take a deep breath. It probably won't be kept under wraps a la Palpatine's Arrest since that rarely every happens, but it could surely be another full month before we hear anything at all on Series 8, maybe even longer!
  7. While it costs way too much for me to even consider buying it, I have to admit it has its charm. It doesn't really look like any established style of LEGO (official or MOC), so in that way I think it's a success since it broadens the idea of what you can do with LEGO. Shame about the price though, I think it would've been quite nice as a bookshelf piece.
  8. 21016 - Sungnyemun - Theme: Architecture Complete, except for missing printed tile (replaced with same 1x8 black tile but blank). LXF file
  9. I can't imagine this'll be officially branded as a Monster Fighters set. It just doesn't (seem to) fit into the overall story of the other sets. That's a big difference from Pirates and the Imperial Flagship too since Pirates has no overarching storyline like the one-off action themes do. The Imperial Flagship didn't have to match the other Pirates sets because there was no plotline. Any Monster Fighters-themed set should somehow fit in with the others, and unless this Haunted House turns out to be the Monster Fighters' headquarters or something like that, I just don't see how they would tie it together with the theme.
  10. Maybe I'm just crazy, but LDD seems to run faster on my computer in offline mode. I wonder if there's any way to stop LDD from accessing the internet without having to turn my internet connection off every time I start it..
  11. Palpatine's Arrest is available on the German S@H site. €90!
  12. Having just finished building this myself I can only agree that this is a fantastic set. I never owned the first Batcave, but honestly, looking at photos of it I have to say that even if I did own it I'd prefer this new one. Sure, the old one was a lot bigger but it looks much duller compared to the new one. The added splashes of blue, transparent blue and yellow really do a lot for this model compared to the old one. The new Batcave feels comic book-ish without being overly so. The old one doesn't feel comic book-ish enough, but not serious, dark enough either to fit the Nolan films. The build style is far improved from that set as well, it really shows how much better at this LEGO has gotten in the last 5 years or so. The only big plus the old one has for me is that it came with an Alfred. I really wish this set had included one. Wouldn't be too hard to make one yourself, but it's a shame they didn't bring Alfred around for this one. But back to the set at hand, the only thing I don't like about it is the Batcycle. Like the one included in the Funhouse Escape, it's just really underwhelming. I wish they'd just made one really great Batcycle instead of two mediocre ones. I can definitely live with it though, as it's such a small, insignificant part of the set. On the upside, Bane's drill tank really surprised me. It doesn't look like much, but it was a fun build. The red colour really contrasts against the rest of the set too so it's a very nice addition. Makes you kinda wish the set had come with a breakaway wall (like the one in the LOTR Helms Deep set) for him to come through, but then again I like that the set isn't bloated. As for the stickers, I'd say they're a must. The set really doesn't look right without them. There are some you could leave out (especially with a little modification), but the ones for the transformation chamber and the control room really need to be applied or the set is just going to look weird. I personally applied all of them, and as much as it is a pain in the a** to do, I'm happy with the results. If you only get one Super Heroes set, this is the one to get, hands down. The Funhouse Escape does come with better minifigures overall, but the Batcave is so much better as a set.
  13. Yeah, I'm pretty pissed that LEGO didn't launch these first-ever LOTR sets everywhere at the same time. This is perhaps the biggest license since Star Wars, and from what I've heard they won't be out for another TWO MONTHS where I live. That's just utterly ridiculous.
  14. I think I'd actually have to say Eomer. His torso printing is just spectacular, and the whole colour combination on him is just fantastic. That he has a cape gives him the edge over King Theoden as well, in my book. But really, there's not a dud among them. Save for maybe Gollum, which I'm not a big fan of (but on the other hand I'm not sure how much better he could've been made, a tricky character to translate into an atypical LEGO minifigure).
  15. D'oh! How could I forget about the "Ocean King". In that case I'd definitely think it's possible.. It could be a pretty cool figure too so I hope to see it some day.
  16. Okay, gonna attempt this too, using some highly non-scientific methods. 1. Jazz Trumpet Player 2. Groom 3. "Zorro" 4. Hunter 5. Hairdresser (Female) 6. Medusa 7. Cyclops 8. Golfer 9. Baker 10. Reggae Singer 11. Mountie 12. Pizza Delivery (Female) 13. Old-School Diver 14. Fencer (Female) 15. Bride of Frankenstein 16. Zeus Zeus might be iffy since he's technically a god, i.e. religion, but on the other hand he's not a god anyone actively worships (as far as I know) so I think that might be okay. It's more mythology than religion. Plus, LEGO has already made a Zeus figure that was sent in the Juno spacecraft to Jupiter, so I don't see why they couldn't make one for the CMF.
  17. Even though they already made a modern diver, LEGO definitely has to make an old-timey diver with one of those classic diving helmets. The gladiator's helmet is absolutely a nice inspiration for what such a helmet could look like. For accessories he could include a knife and a crab, perhaps? And NO flippers, because these kind of divers didn't have any as they walked on the bottom.
  18. It's in there. 55300 "Closed Firm Key".
  19. Here's my stab at it: Exploded view of the drum:
  20. That's an awesome-looking model! I love the oversized rotor wings. Very cool. By the way, when I opened up the file in LDD it said four pieces were incorrectly placed and had been removed.
  21. I don't know why I like this set as much as I do. I guess it's just that Hawaii vibe of it, which is so much different from what we usually get from LEGO sets. I don't own any of these three CMFs either, so I'd definitely want to pick it up (even if it's ridiculously overpriced).
  22. Yes! Although he'd probably look better without that hefty chinstrap, it's a bit too much for that hat. I'd like to see one with a beard, something like this (but with better torso printing of course):
  23. Graysmith replied to Wrinkledog's post in a topic in LEGO Town
Nice little vehicle for a 4-wide, definitely one of the better ones in recent times. That said, I think I'm going to skip this one and get 4201 instead which will cost nearly the same in my country.
  24. Can't remember if this was posted before in this thread, but of someone who modified his Ghost Train to run on 9V tracks.
  25. Another one I'd like to see: A Canadian mountie. Seeing as LEGO has already made a British royal guard, I don't see any reason not to make a mountie too. Even better, with the new forest police they now have the perfect mountie hat already made too. You could probably make a pretty decent mountie already by replacing the royal guard's hat with the forest police hat, but I'd definitely like to see a proper one.
