I don't know! Flickr still has them and nothing has been changed by me on either site. They are in the Winter Village Group, http://www.flickr.com/groups/2158170@N21/ And this is a URL for them on my Flickr page: Anyone have any ideas?

I'm glad you like it, I think I spent about as long on it as everything else combined. There was a little pulpit but then I had a thought about how to do an organ, so the pulpit went.
  3. It's like 1997!
  4. It's great! World Famous in Stratford Lego Store!

I've edited the original post with my final five picture, plus a shot of how it sits in 'my' Winter Village. I like a Dickensian Christmas, so I was disappointed with Lego started putting little old lorries and things in with the sets.

It would suit Superman, Spiderman or Batman. Godzilla would fit in well too. Perhaps a large domed building, a giant roofed stadium or concert hall kind of thing? A little spire poking out of the lower buildings? A 'space needle' kind of thing? The twisty building looks like the cities 'statement' architecture already though. Stunning piece that lacks nothing really though.
  7. I love the red trim! Very nice colourful roof. There is a risk in some of the Winter Village stuff that it's really just a city building with a white roof, this is proper Winter Village I think.
  8. I love the sleigh blades, very successful
  9. I like the walls very well. Really nice Christmas look, but also very 'real'.
  10. It's a nice build, and that street scene at the end is terrific.
  11. That's nice!

I really like that, more like a hot rod than old car to my eye though

Big fan of the steps up to the cab, don't know if they're novel or not, but they are great.
  14. It's the standard tourist complaint, that the Little Mermaid is little. I think it's a really nice build, much better than forcing a Lego mermaid to lie down.
  15. This is really nice. The brick built mermaid is too big though

Yes....[cough]...the play on Kirk is definitely what I intended. Actually, you can tell it's not Free Church of Scotland as it has an organ in it, only very recently did the Free Church allow musical instruments as part of religious ceremony so you don't find organs like this in their churches.
  17. That is a very nice idea, Christmas beer is where it's at. The Lego outhouse is a really nice way to tell the whole story too!

Looks more like this one! Lots follow that basic plan, I wanted to do one like the church I grew up near in Corstorphine, but its got a very complex roofline and floor plan so...

Yes, a kirk is a Scottish word for a church, typically Church of Scotland or Free Church of Scotland. This isn't the inspiration for the build, it's a pretty generic Scottish looking kirk, but it may as well be:

I designed this little Winter Kirk in LDD originally, but decided to build it for real. Which is when you learn that things you thought joined up in LDD don't... The brick count is slightly higher than most of the small Winter Village sets, but that's mostly down to the large number of studs used in the wall. I think the pricing would be pretty similar really. This is how it all looks in my Winter Village, set out on the kitchen table rather than the mantelpiece where it actually spends Christmas. IMG_8763.2 by HundredHander, on Flickr The Kirk is hinged, so while the back isn't open like most of the Winter Village stuff you can get in there. I think it looks better open too, less austere and more welcoming. I went with slopes rather than plates, it fits better with the medieval village buildings, and I'm not happy with the fragility of the plate roofs in the first two Winter Village sets. I have a four year old who expects to be able to play with this stuff. Kirk Front - open by HundredHander, on Flickr This is the 'set'. The kirk, a very fancy one horse open sleigh and a hovel. The children are taking alms to the poor. I've put in the soldiers as I like the church/ state tension. The rich/ poor tension should be pretty obvious, but for me it's a lot of what Christmas is about. The minifigs are: Minister for the church Two soldiers Two children Two poor people One sleigh woman. IMG_8788 by HundredHander, on Flickr And the hovel. It has a little fireplace, and though you can't really see it in this picture is built on a little rocky outcrop, where the fire is set. Hovel by HundredHander, on Flickr Kirk Front - closed by HundredHander, on Flickr Kirk Organ by HundredHander, on Flickr (croissants probably aren't right, but...)
  21. Thanks very much, edited my original post now. I'll create my own thread, but I don't quite have the pictures yet, need to tweak the street scene bit.
  22. That's great, I love the bell pulls. I have something very similar to post so I better do it sharpish!
  23. Excellent, I've got a nice little village kirk to post when I get round photographing it. edit: There is a very similar creation to mine, so I'm uploading these pictures quickly so there is no doubt it's created independently! Better pictures to follow and the street scene. It's a Winter Kirk for the village. It's got a detailed interior with pews and organ, the bell tower has gold cups in it serving as bells, and a bat! It's also hinged so that it can open into the configuration you see here or close up into a little chapel. Full thread here, but the work is not quite done yet. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77008
  24. I think your new entry on brick palette is a restatement of the second bullet that's already there. It's shame you've not included the request to limit the brick palette to what is available in Pick-a-Brick.
  25. They always look like post apocalyptic mutants in that sort of situation, great fun.
