Has mindstorm disappeared ?
fugglewyg replied to Jipay's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingKimT - the still from that video looked really interesting so i gave it a watch. I have to say that i ended up quite dissapointed. The idea was great and most of the design was good but i think some of the mechanism needed a bit more work from the designer. There is nothing more dissapointing than seeing a great model that needs constant intervention to make it work. If it needs that much attention it probably isn't ready to go on display. It's the same with all the GBC modules, most are excellent but there always seems to be one that the owner is constantly poking, prodding and picking up footballs from. I am not suggesting for one minute that i could do any better but i think that it is such a shame that some of these fantastic designs are let down by this kind of thing. If i was not into lego and was walking round a show with my kids and they saw that model running they would both say that they don't really want a mindstorms set because it looks like it doesn't work properly. It just seems to show the product in a bad light in my opinion.

Possibly the best bit of the entire race. The speed that Webber shot past Alonso up the inside was amazing, i was sure he was going to go straight into the gravel trap when he found he couldn't make the corner having gone so deep into it. Fantastic bit of driving to make that move stick

Sorry guys but i disagree with you about Brawn "giving" Jenson the win. They were both on 3 stops at the start of the race according to Ross and they switched Jenson at the first stop due the safety car changing traffic predictions for him. This would give him a chance when things paned out to come second still as Rubens was supposed to charge off into the distance given that 3 stops was predicted to be the quicker strategy. However Rubens just wasn't fast enough when he had to be and Jenson was. Ruby lost it for himself ! Rubens himself has said no team orders were involved and he would quit if it turned out like it was at Ferrari for him and he admitted he lost the race by not being quick enough in the 2nd and 3rd stints. Jenson won fair and square - and no i'm not a Jenson fanboy, in fact i wrote his career off years ago - he's suprising me at the moment.

10196: Grand Carousel/Merry Go Round discussion
Ok this looks like a good but possibly expensive parts pack. It is way too big to actually fit into most lego city set ups. If the price is ok when we get to see the uk price i may get it for novelty value and to use for the parts but it's not that great. Now, i don't wish to reignite the whole debate about the pics being posted early from the other topic but i am slightly confused now. What was the point of taking them down to avoid spoiling it for TLG's big reveal only to put them back up again before the actual reveal - or have i somehow missed the reveal ?

I was wondering if he was so used to lapping Nelson in previous races that he didn't realise they were fighting for position and so was just expecting the blue flags to come out for him and nelson to let him by

Well done Jenson. Drove a fantastic race, i thought that the Toyata's were going to scamper away from the rest of the field. Jenson had a great first lap passing Lewis otherwise it could have been a different race for him. Ferrari have broke there no points start and managed to score a few at last. Vettel didn't seem as strong as i was expecting though, i figured if anyone could catch the Toyota's then he was the best bet - wrong again huh. Hope Jensons car isn't found to be illegal or anything though cos our tv comantary said they had to cut holes in the floor and bodywork to get it to run cool enough ! All in all an entertaining race. P.s KimT - I should have been clearer with fuel loads thing - taking into account fuel loads a qualy times Trulli was still effectively faster than Vettel....

Wow. didn't see that front row coming at the end of the last season. Looking at the fuel loads they were not running light either. Can't believe how bad sutil screwed webbers lap though. Then all he gets is a 3 place penalty which really doesn't make that much difference when you are at the tail end of the grid anyway. Mclaren seems a but quicker too but ferrari still seem to be a bit behind them. Should be a good race.

Ummmm - could it be the Big Red one, what a bad start to the season for them. Hell, even their sponsers at the FIA haven't been able to bend the rules enuff to get them into the points yet

Not too bad of a race today - much better then the last washout. Well done to Redbull and both there drivers. Both the Brawns did well but were a little short of pace today for some reason. Amusing to see that after all the moaning from certain teams that the winners didn't have the diffuser that was supposed to be such a huge advantage. Hamilton was too hot headed today as he often seems to be when he is down the field a bit and very glad to see him beaten by his teammate today. Alsono had his race spoiled by his team stopping him so early and sticking him at the back of the pack in all the spray and it really is about time they sacked Nelson and gave a decent driver a chance. Actually it's 2 teams although Force India came close today again - very sad to see them loose out again so close to the end. Roll on next weekend !!!

Were these real LEGO adverts?
I found the first 3 pics to be typical of the type of advertising that goes on these days. However, while a lot of companies would ( and have) used this type of ad campaign these are obviuosly fakes. They are far too controversial for TLG to ever use and certainly not in line with TLG family values. As someone who was very shocked by 9/11 and katrina i find the next 2 Ads to be neither funny nor offensive. Possibly in bad taste but lots of people have different senses of humour and may find them amusing but this is no reason to condem them. As someone from an armed forces family i know that a lot of servicemen deal with tough situations by making jokes about them. Also following any major news story it is usually only a matter of hours before jokes and text messages are doing the rounds. What you feel about this will always be personal and while sone will be funny to one person others will find them deeply offensive and vice-versa. Each to there own. Finally, the Lego for adults. The thing i found most offensive about this was the fact that its not even Lego. If you look closely at the pics here you can see they are either some kind of blocks (possibly wooden) or more likely computer modifed photos of real women but definately not Lego. There is another site i cannot find again right now that has a post by the original artist who says the pics were normal when first published but someone at some point has put the Lego logo on there and they have been sent all over the net with no credit for him and lots of hassle for Lego and himself.

Space Police 2009!
Yes we can, but WHY should we have to. Whoever is in charge should get there backside kicked for some of the marketing decisions they make. Look at all the agro that was caused last year when the castle advent calendar was not released in the states. All this does is annoy afol's and cause bad feeling toward TLG. At the very least they should put them on s@h to save us paying over the odds to get them from bricklink or ebay. Sucks !!

Is it just the angle the photo was taken or does that rear wing look stupidly small. I know they were going to make the smaller but that looks awful. Roll on the first race !!

If you can't wait for an inventory to be added to peeron you could always use bricklink as it is already inventoried on there.
