That's a quite important thing to solve I think, but if you say it's too complicated to implement I guess I'll drop it. After all, I can always keep the battles at a minimum in my quests so I don't have to worry when I'm the QM.

The addition of a positive effect limit is much easier to keep track of then a bunch of different effects in a battle. It's a really simple rule that will make the QM's work a lot easier. Parties nowadays are relying on consumables to get through battles because they are forcing the QMs to come up with more complicated enemies to counter the consumables. And I'm saying that there are too many positive effects at the same time, not that there are too many different kinds of effects (even if that might be true too, but I haven't looked close enough at all of them to have an opinion on which that could be unnecessary). I'm really trying to work towards the same goal as you, a simpler game that relies on roleplay more than rules. The positive effect limit will reduce many of the unnecessary complicated enemies, items, effect etc. that makes the game so confusing at the moment. Why can't issues be discussed if they are not about the rogue debate? I think it is a real problem that the battles keep getting more and more complicated because that destroys the simplicity of the game.

It's really not about the rogue debate. Almost everyone uses consumables in the battles and it makes it harder and harder for the QMs to balance. The problem is not rogues buying consumables, the problem is too many positive effects in the battles which forces the QMs to counter with more negative effects, passive specials, immunity to everything and a bunch of other things that makes the game too complicated and vulnerable to loopholes like the wait-out-counterstrike-tactic for example. I'm willing to compromise though. Maybe just 1 positive effect is too harsh, so how about 2? Still a lot better than allowing 3 or more in my opinion.

They can still use them, just not over-use them. And it's still better to harm everyone, instead of just a few, don't you think? Not sure if directed to my or JimB's suggestion, but I never assumed such thing. My suggestion lessens the difference between the rich and the poor regarding the consumables without altering the price.

I think it's more fair than just punishing the rogues... Besides, I feel it's not really harming anyone. It brings up another tactical level to the players where they have to chose which effect they think will help them the most in the battle, instead of just stack all of them.

While adding a cap on the positive effects will fix both issues since everyone will be able to afford the consumables if less is needed and the rogues won't have any need for tons of them.

No, other classes won't afford to buy the consumables, which will make them exclusive to the rogue classes. I'm still for a positive effect cap. Max. 1 positive effect per player. Makes the battles easier for the QMs to calculate and plan, and limits the use of consumables in one. Sandy already proved in #75 Falling Stars that fully buffed heroes are ridiculously overpowered. This would also help bridge the gap between the rich rogues and the poorer heroes.
  8. Maurice raised his shield as his comrades drew their weapons. ""Plague Doctor", eh? Well today you have acted like a plague and nothing like a doctor. I can't understand how you can possibly think your means justify your goal, you have deliberately poisoned a whole crowd, passively killed a whole bunch by instigating a fight, and on top of that spread lies, deceit and false words by this whole charade to the people. No more of this I tell you, Eubric sure don't need another one of your kind."
  9. "Are you out of your mind?! We said no funny business and you go up and kill a defenceless man! How can we know for sure that he was a fake Masked Man when you destroyed our chances of questioning him? I don't see how you in any way have helped the people of Eubric today. Starting a rebellion against the Guild to get hold of their secrets is just plain criminal and will result in many lost lives." Maurice turns to his party comrades. "We really can't let this maniac roam around free in the city, he's a maniac that will cause nothing but chaos."

I'd say it's wasted. You can't boost something you don't have yet. + it's easier for everyone to keep track of it that way.

What we really need is a limit on how many effects a player can have. To be able to buff yourself in several ways (eg. Hastened, Lucky, Encouraged etc.) makes the battles too hard for the QMs to balance (and to calculate). I would love to see a rule that only allows one positive and one negative effect on the players.
  12. Maurice grew inpatient over the Masked Man's ignorance and was about to start shaking and shouting at him when the white clad figures appeared. "As long as they don't try any funny business I guess we can let them talk. We have to stand guard so that they don't escape though." he says to Thalion.
  13. Maurice puts the Phoenix Essence from Hybros in his Glass Greatsword and also uses the Rito feather and a Nostrum. Then he follows Hybros up to the Masked Man. "You have some explanation to do. Better answer quick before the crowd that you poisoned try to get revenge on you."
  14. "You have no more proof for that than me. We can't know for sure until we have checked, can we?"
  15. "I've never seen anyone like them before. Maybe we can get some answers from the Masked Man, given he is still around of course." Maurice looks around to see if the Masked Man is still present despite all the fighting.
  16. "The Apostle must've realised all was lost and did what his honour commanded." Maurice heals himself and the alchemist.
  17. Maurice attacks the Crimson Crown Apostle from the back row.
  18. Maurice sighs and uses his Phoenix Essence on Thalion in the back row.
  19. "Stand still or I can't heal you, Thalion! Or at least let me go first." Maurice once again tries to heal Thalion from the back row.
  20. Maurice draws a deep breath and tries to concentrate on the healing of Thalion from the back row, but with everything happening around him it's quite difficult for the Paladin to keep his mind focused.
  21. "It's all because of this damn machine! I can't fight properly with this clump of metal on my back." Maurice attempts to heal Thalion from the back row.

    Ah yeah, that's right.

Yeah, I got back my gold that got stolen in our last battle and thought that was a bit weird since it makes the special damage useless. But on the other hand, where does the gold go if not in the enemy's pockets?
  24. Isn't it obvious? Guts want to hide his baldness. Also, complaining about only getting a WP:17 weapon when others in the party get a magic compass is a bit whiny.
  25. Maurice felt a bit quicker when Guts had given him the smelling salts, but the idiotic machine was still weighing him down. He wished they could just dump it and get rid of this weird white faced sect. He launched an attack against Crimson Crown Chemist B from the front row. OOC: Sorry about the remedy, I didn't even think of if Maurice had one or not. And yeah, the White cloak seems like the most logical choice.
