  1. Correct! I thought I deleted that sentence but it appears that was not to be.

Nice updates! I'm actually working on a blog post for Scalawag Sloop in support of BrickLink Designer Program Series 7. So I'll incorporate the updated version of the ship into that blog post as well.
  4. So you can build two habitats, right?

What bleedin' fine ship, Tom! I've only just got around to catching up on some of the recent MOCs. Have these stickers come into fruition?
  6. You're on to something It was the early 90s when hollow stud heads were introduced. So depending upon what year the particular sets you acquired were manufactured, it may influence whether the heads have hollow studs or not. Furthermore, depending on how you acquired these sets, they may not have included their original minifigures, particularly if they were secondhand. For example: The blue coat Soldiers were in production until 1993, by which time they would have had hollow stud heads. So for whatever reason, the seller may have substituted some of the minfigs, either due to losing the originals, or acquiring the set without them, and then sourcing comparable minfigs elsewhere.
  7. We're all eagerly awaiting the pirate ship MOCs made from the set's parts

  9. Oh blimey! This topic takes me way back - thank ye for weighing in! Annoying how in the time since PhotoBucket has monetized and now watermarks images on free accounts. Searching me archive, it appears I still possess the original image:
  10. That line has stuck in my head since 1992... but never did I interpret it as an official confirmation that the Soldiers and Imperial Guards belong to the same faction. However, in past forum discussions, I've argued that they are indeed the same faction; blue coats being the naval branch, while red coats are the military branch.
  11. And where be this rumour mill located? It hasn't reached Reddit yet. But Reddit does mention One Piece.
  12. Here be this year's highlights - feel free to add yer own... “The Age of Elves is Over, the Time of the Orc has Come” by pirates016 “Wishing you a very pirate-y Christmas” by classic_lego_builds “All I want for Christmas” by blokjesbrij “Merry Christmas” by Gergely Teplany “Advent Kah-islander Countdown” by ClassicStyleCastle
  13. Indeed! Pirates, were after all, the first minifigures to offer prosthetics such as hooks, wooden legs and eye patches*. Cliches of the genre, but we are yet to observe hooks and wooden legs incorporated into female pirate minifgures. * providing the eye patch wasn't an aide to improve night vision
  14. What kind of ship MOCs would you use the parts for? Twentieth century vessels? Or would the parts work well for pirate and imperial ships?
  15. We need an updated minifig of him too!
  16. And none of the other creative choices the designers made added character to her? Particularly in comparison to other recent minifigures:
  17. Excuse me ignorance... but how many sets has this cockatoo been in? Since I'm ridiculously focused on pirates, this is the first time I've seen it.
  18. And that creates the argument: why does it always have to be a parrot? Can't we get something different for a change? Also, a cockatoo is a species of parrot... so we got an updated parrot with a crest this time.
  19. Anyway, returning to Quartermaster Minifigure... Innovation! Pirates have always be accompanied by macaws so it was time for something different! A cockatoo does seem a bit geographically displaced, given they're an Australian bird, rather than a tropical bird species present in Central America. A toucan would be a more fitting choice, but perhaps the designers wanted to use a completely new bird mould. What be this a new McCaw or parrot part yer refer to?
