[CONTEST] The Infamous Steve
That's exactly what I've been doing for 3 months... do you not follow Classic Pirates on Facebook, Instagram, Flickr or the blog? I've posted dozens of social media updates all directing people back to key topics in this forum. Problem is; most people on social media won't register a Eurobricks account because it's not convenient. Forums are an old school form of communication that appeals to certain people, but certainly not the majority. However, that's digressing for the actual issue relating to voting; participants of the contest who are active on the forum, yet still not making the effort to vote. The aim is to run simpler contests that allow participation via both forum and social media. The Classic Pirate Facebook Group has 16,000+ members... substantially more than the LEGO Pirates Forum... and then there's viral reach. We're not tapping into that with these forum based contests.

It's not so much budget that concerns me. A contest of this scale consumes almost 4 months of my free time manage and too many other things need to be put on hold. There's the: 4 weeks of planning 8 weeks of entry submission 2 weeks of voting 2 weeks to finalise Nonetheless, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I agree KISS is the best approach. So for the immediate future, contests will be smaller challenges with a single objective that can also be entered via social media.

There's one of those in the first post of this topic. And the voting mechanics are including in the first post of each Voting topic. Those first posts contain all the necessary information entering and voting, there's no need to read megathread - that's intended to be the rule book to settle disputes. Maybe to extent, but some people won't read the rules anyway. The solution is to downsize the contests and not have all the side challenges which is ultimately what over complicates things.

A wise choice! @Horation and this is the challenge with contests. The rules have been stated in a dozen different places from the forum to Classic-Pirates.com to social media; and even someone who frequents all those mediums regularly still doesn't read them thoroughly.

Indeed. But be too stringent and then people won't enter in the first place. Fatigue set in 3 weeks ago! But as you may observe from this example; it's very well to state something, even in multiple places, and participants still seemingly miss the notice. So perhaps @Captain Braunsfeld could take a moment to revise his vote and consider another entry other than his own.

- [CONTEST] IMPORTANT REMINDER to Entrants who haven't voted for BOTH Building Entries and a Creative Critic
IMPORTANT REMINDER to Entrants who haven't voted for BOTH Building Entries and a Creative Critic. If you Vote for both Critics and Building Entries you will receive: 10 Bonus Points towards the Vote Scores for each of your Building Entries 6 Bonus Points towards your Creative Critic Vote Score (if you're also participating in the Creative Critic) 2 Tickets in the Prize Draw to WIN a $25 LEGO set Vote for one or the other, and you’ll only receive half of the above. Vote for yourself, and you will forfeit your Bonus Points – so spend 2 minutes looking at the other Entries. Building Entrants who NOT voted at all - you're missing out on 10 Points which have been awarded to those who have voted. @Christophh, @Andy-Roo, @Brickshipyard, @Sebeus I, @Legostone, @Johnnyopies, @Brendan McGnarley, @KolonialbeamterdeMartinez, @A_Goodman, @lotr, @Captain Braunsfeld, @Oky Building Entrants who have NOT voted for a Creative Critic - you're missing out on 5 Points which have been awarded to those who have voted for a Creative Critic. @CaptainDarkNStormy, @Samarth, @Quotenotto, @MyFirstMOC-Hun, @thewatchman, @Juhlhaus , @-DoNe- YOUR VOTE WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WINNING... and going home empty handed. Aye, for some voting may seem like a hassle, but without strong voter support we cannot definitely determine the winners. And it would be a bloomin' shame if someone with fewer votes beat you because they took the time to vote and you did not. Besides, people have to voted for you, so please return the favour. VOTE FOR THE WINNERS! When timer reaches zero no further Votes will be accepted.- [CONTEST] The Infamous Steve - Bonus Point Tally - will YOU be receiving Bonus Points?

There's another poll topic for you.- Rock Island Refuge Opinion
- [CONTEST] The Infamous Steve
But how could this be enforced? It's one thing to say voting is mandatory and then entrants still don't vote anyway.- [BRICKLINK] "A Pirate's Dream" Activity
Islanders have been severely neglected in the BrickLink Designer Program. For those who build in BrickLink Studio: is that due to a lack of relevant parts, which have only just become available? Or are designers just not interested in Islanders? “Con-Briki” by Jdsiro- [BRICKLINK] The Thieves of Tortuga - Enters Crowdfunding in June 2025
As you're asking this question in a LEGO Pirates Forum so there may be a bias towards Thieves of Tortuga. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking and everyone would much rather Forestmen.- Rock Island Refuge Opinion
You've probably hit the nail on the head here - the colour palette was limited during that era, and brown had only recently been introduced. Back then, brown was reserved to accessories and theme specific pieces like ratlines, crows nests, rope bridges, etc, rather than generic pieces. @CaptainDarkNStormy remade Rock Island Refuge last year, honouring the traditional colour scheme while using a brick-built base.- [CONTEST] The Infamous Steve
It would appear so. Not even the prospect of winning a $25 LEGO set or 5 bonus points towards their vote scores is enough to motivate some building entrants to take action.- [CONTEST] The Infamous Steve
On paper it seems like a good idea! In polling people are in favour of it. But in practice... we have not yet received that many voters. So far only 26 people have Voted for the Building Entries. At the timing of writing there's still a week left so let's hope that number increases.- [BRICKLINK] "A Pirate's Dream" Activity
BrickLink has recently hosted an activity named "A Pirate's Dream" Due to managing a certain Infamous Steve Contest, coverage has been delay and submissions have already closed. The objective was to build anything pirate-related in 10 to 300 parts using BrickLink Studio. Not all creation strictly fit the "LEGO Pirates" definitions so there's a round-up of those which do on the Classic Pirates blog. And below are some submissions by forum members... “Castaway Cay” by CaptDarkNStormy "Shipwreck Island" by MyFirstMOC_HUN - [CONTEST] IMPORTANT REMINDER to Entrants who haven't voted for BOTH Building Entries and a Creative Critic
