Great Crane, the only issue I have is the string is too thick and keeps catch when wound up. I have been trying other strings to get a better fit. I see you used the original one, is that all the time or just for the review?

What ever you end up doing make sure the shaft of the ram is completely clear before retracting it. if you get any grit or rubbish in the seal it wont be long until you get a leak. I have cleaned them in the past using wet and dry as already suggested and the result is very good.

I like this alot, I have loads of track but no where to set up all the time. This means we (the kids and I) have to set-up a layout play a bit then take it all down again. This is ok with just track and trains but will not be much fun if I get into buildings and the like. I think this looks great for a small space. how big is the room overall?

I bought a bulk load of LEGO bricks off eBay the other day, to my surprise there were 4 wheels from 8880. I could not believe my luck when I checked the rest of the hoard to find nearly all the bits needed for the set. Amazing, this set came out in my dark ages and is a really nice set to have, so if you have not got it and you can find a good one, get it. Nice stud based build with a cool 4 speed gearbox, all wheel drive and steer, yes a nice set to add to the list
