  1. I personally never wear makeup unless I'm at a wedding or wearing a costume and it's required, but I have no problem with female Minifigs having lipstick and eyelashes to differentiate them from the males. It just gives them individuality and is a pretty realistic representation of real life. There are a few female minifigs without makeup, where it's appropriate. One of my favourites is the new Safari girl from the Bricks & More Safari Building Set. She's out on Safari, so she doesn't need to wear makeup, it doesn't impress the giraffes and elephants much. My very favourite Minifig seems to have lipstick on, which matches what she's wearing. Luna is my favourite Harry Potter character. :)

Dino finally came out in Australia this week. It's exclusive to Big W, just as Pharaoh's Quest was, and the prices will never drop even during their big toy sale. I still wish they had chosen a colour other than yellow, but I really love the sets and the dinosaurs. I've been watching Terra Nova as I build them, it's a shame that series didn't turn out as good as it could have, but I love the dinosaurs. Now that I'm up to the final episode and still plan on buying and building more Dino sets, I'll start rewatching Planet Dinosaur, the best dinosaur documentary series I've seen. The sets remind me a bit of Mars Mission, although the vehicles don't have the cool suspension and Technic pieces. I think the theme would make a good Real-Time Strategy game, just as Mars Mission did.
  3. Thank you :) I wonder if there's an additional discount or offer for Myer One members. I hope there will be some Imperial Flagships left at Pacific Fair Myer, I'd love to try and build it into a HMS Endeavour to go alongside my Pirates of the Caribbean sets.
  4. Did I miss out on the Myer sale or is it still on? I can't find any info about it on their website so I fear I'm too late to layby an Imperial Flagship. :(
  5. Unfortunately this forum doesn't display too well through the old web browser I use on my A1200, which does indeed spend most of its time on the internet, but I use my Efika running MorphOS or my PCs running Aros or Linux to post on this forum since their browsers are up-to-date. As for the anchor that was recovered, I read that it's no coincidence that they're using the hype surrounding the film to increase interest and draw in tourists. It makes sense, and if it helps pay to have the remaining wreckage recovered so it can be displayed in museums for everyone to see then I'm all for it. It sure makes me want to pick up the QAR from layby and build it, which I might be able to afford soon. :)
  6. In a way, LEGO sort of did release a Port Royal set! If you get Whitecap Bay and the London Escape sets, you can combine them to build this official model, but unfortunately there's no regular instructions to build it. You can read the review here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=55288
  7. The news item says it all - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110527/ap_on_re_us/us_blackbeard_s_ship I think it's pretty cool, makes me really want to build the thing now, but I have to wait a few weeks before I can afford it. I did recently build Whiecap Bay and I love it, it's much bigger than I thought it would be, and I like the modular design. Anyway, I think it's a pretty cool coincidence that they're recovering the wreckage of the Queen Anne's Revenge just when we all get to see her on screen and build her out of LEGO. :)
  8. I bought the Cannibal Escape from Target last week, the day before the 20% off sale (I didn't know it was coming) and it was $39.99. If I took my receipt with me, could I still purchase another one for this price and get the 20% discount as well? Do Target have to honour their previous price stuff-up? I'd like to know the rules for sure on this before I go back in, because it was embarrassing when they rejected the $5 voucher they had previously told me I could use. One thing I don't understand is why Target staff always automatically try not to let anyone take advantage of a special offer or discount, as if they're the ones losing money? Why should they care that a customer saves a few dollars, they still get paid the same for working, and aren't penalised for helping a customer out.
  9. I have used this method to restore the original shade of some of my old plastic computer cases, and plan on doing it again with a bunch of old LEGO. It really works!

I love it! The attention to detail is amazing, I love those meat slicer and grinder, and those ceiling fans with the lights are really nice! What a cosy little home Gino has inherited.
  11. I went and put the Queen Anne's Revenge and Whitecap Bay on layby at Target tonight since I could only afford the deposit on those two. I also picked up a MiniFig and a Freddo Frog to make up $5.40 (so I'd only have to pay 40c) so I could use my $5 voucher. Now, even though the girls had told me last week that the voucher could be used on anything, this time they told me I could only use it with Women's underwear and that their computer would not even register the voucher if they tried. So I missed out on that. And now that I see Toys R Us have the Queen Anne's Revenge even cheaper I'm a bit bummed I laybyed the one at Target. I hope Pacific Fair Toys R Us have the same mistake, will the same still be on on Tuesday (when I get paid)?
  12. The new collectible MiniFig comes with a Chimpanzee which is an ape, not a monkey. :p Sorry, I don't want to upset anyone.

I've been looking for this set since Space Police came out, but I guess it never came out in any of my local stores. It's the last set I need to complete my Space Police collection (I'm including the sets I have on layby because I'll be picking them up eventually, they're safe now), and it also looks like one of the best sets in the series. There are no other large Space Police ground vehicles, and the only ones I'll have are the small ones that come with other sets. I'm disappointed they didn't make another set or two with wheels or tank treads, I really liked the wheeled and treaded vehicles in Mars Mission and got them all. The worst thing is I saw this set on eBay, still boxed for $25 AUD and no one bidded on it, and I forgot to bid myself!

I have only recently begun collecting Kingdoms LEGO and love it! I have the smaller sets at the moment, but I'd love to get the castle and the fort too. I have a few of those yellow castle building sets they just stopped bringing out, so I have a few extra knight minifigs to join my new Kingdoms ones. At the moment all these Kingdoms sets are going to be part of a medieval attraction in LEGO City, because I don't want to have to build another table. I really wish I had picked up my layby of the Medieval Market Village before it ran out, I'm in love with that set and I may never have it now.

At the moment I am using my pool table with a sheet over it for my whole Space LEGO display, and I have all my City LEGO crammed onto a board on top of a coffee table. I'd like to eventually build a couple of tables for my displays that are about 2x3metres in size, then I can lay out all my baseplates and sets without it looking too crowded. I'd also like to build a removable clear perspex box that can go over the top of the displays to keep dust and grubby fingers off the LEGO. Some day, eventually, I'll get it done! Here's my Space LEGO pool table: Although I keep all my action figures and other collectibles on book shelves, I feel LEGO deserves a much larger display area that can also be used to play on.

This place looks awesome, I'm definitely going to have to visit later this year when I go down to see my parents in Adelaide. Thanks for posting the photos!
  17. This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! You combined two of my favourite things, I've always wanted to build my own pinball machine, maybe this would be a good way to go about it! Thanks for showing us this and giving me some ideas. :)
  18. I'm an Amiga/Aros/Linux user, so I haven't been able to try LDD yet, although I'm curious to see if it will run through Wine. Has anyone had any success with this?
  19. Although my very first LEGO sets were a few small Orient Expedition promos and other assorted promo packs, and my first real set was a Harry Potter house, it wasn't until Mars Mission came out that I really started to collect LEGO. I nearly completed the whole Mars Mission line, only missing out on the original ETX Alien Strike (but making up for it by getting an extra ETX Alien Infiltraitor which is better anyway) and the MT-201 Ultra-Drill Walker, which I still REALLY want to get! I continued on to collect Space Police after Mars Mission finished, and I'm only missing the Max Security Transport (which seems very hard to find) and the Container Heist, which I'm hoping to grab for a good price before they're all gone too. I really love LEGO Space, and hope it continues on with another compatible theme (I have my Space Police and aliens living amongst the Mars Mission team, since I figure they've started colonising the place by now). My second main theme is LEGO City, which I don't necessarily try to get all the sets of, just the ones I really like or the ones I find for a bargain. I like to mix Creator Houses, Collectible Minifigs, and eventually Modular Buildings once I get some with my City. Off the shore in the ocean is a small island and some boats with Pirates on them. I'd like to collect more Pirates, but the sets aren't easy to come by since they're not bringing new ones out. Occasionally I'll get a random set from one of the various other themes and mix them with my City or Space scenes. Currently I'm working towards a Halloween display in my LEGO City. I have also recently picked up a couple of the new Kingdoms sets, and I'm kind of in love. I guess my LEGO City will have to have its own medieval attraction with authentic knight actors, I only wish I had managed to pick up my layby of the Medieval Village set before Christmas Eve last year, I'm so bummed I missed out on that.
  20. I usually only get one or two sets from an action theme if I feel it fits in with my LEGO City. I don't like how a lot of the vehicles are a larger scale and won't fit in one lane on the roads, so I don't get any of those. I loved the big robot/mech from Agents, it fits in well in the City and has plenty of cool Minifigs, including Trace, so I got that set, and out of World Racers the only set I got is the motorbike one, since they fit in fine with my City. I might get an extra one or two sets and mix the bikes and riders around a bit.

All I can think of are those poor people who all missed out on collecting a Cheerleader Minifig because you bought them all up.
  22. Yeah, this was at the Tweed Heads store, sorry. My friends checked the Big W at Robina and the dirt mall at West Burleigh and neither of the had as good a selection as Tweed. Tonight around 8pm there were still a bunch of Pig Farms, Luke's Landspeeders and some Attack Cruisers too. If you'd like me to pick anything up for you that you're afraid might sell out before you can get down there, let me know, I don't mind helping out a fellow LEGO enthusiast. :)
  23. Oh, bummer, that sucks! I'm on the Gold Coast, and while I was there picking myself up a Galactic Enforcer and there was another guy who's 20 and he got one too, good to see more new AFOLs around the place :) So there was one Galactic Enforcer left when I bought mine today.
  24. I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread that Australia won't be getting any Pig Farmer or Knights Kingdom impulse packs in any stores except some online ones. I hope it's not the case, but it does look like it's true so far. On a much brighter note, I can confirm that Big W does indeed have a few really good sets silently reduced with no advertising (at least in my local store) which will certainly be discovered during the big Toy Sale rush tomorrow, so if your local store is still open and you want one of these sets, go in and get it right now! 5974 Space Police Galactic Enforcer - RRP $149.99 is now $67.00 8039 Star Wars Venator-class Republic Attack Cruiser - RRP $229.99 is now $129 7747 City Wind Turbine Transport - RRP $79.99 is now $29.62 7636 Combine Harvester not sure but it's cheap too! Good luck!
