Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Since coming out of my dark ages, I've wanted to collect all the pirate ships as those brought back fond memories when I was a kid. Thus far, I have in my fleet: 6285 BSB, 3289 RBR, 10210 Imperial Flagship, 6274 Caribbean Clipper, 4184 Black Pearl, 4195 QAR, the Lego Movie Seacow, and 70413 Brick Bounty. Since I want to collect all the "pirate" ships, my question is where do I start? Do I go after the newest ones that I have missing first? Do I go after the most expensive (on Brinklink) and work my way back? I am just curious on how the "market" treats theses ships and what I should do. Thanks for your help.

[MOC] modular castle
Here is my attempt of making a castle. I had to stop it and take it apart so it's not as detailed as I had planned. Let me know what you think... the top of the tower. It comes off to reveal the Kings court. I am trying to add more photos but it is saying that I have "exceeded your allotted disk space for attachments". Any ideas on how to attach more photos? There is a King's Court under the tower, a moving bridge, stables and armory, dungeon. I 'd like to share those and get input.

Pet Shop @ Amazon?
I'm in the US and Amazon has the town hall for $179 which is cheaper than Lego???? They had it for retail before Christmas. I guess I'll just sit and wait...

Pet Shop @ Amazon?
So I've caught the modular bug. I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards that I would like to use towards the PE. However, I cannot understand why the PE is $173 on Amazon when it retails for $150 USD. Is this because of the holidays and I should wait or is it because it is becoming EOLed (which I feel like is shouldn't). It is only $25 but money is money. Any thoughts as to why it more on Amazon?

Which set should I buy?
BuBu- Based on recommendations on here, I got the GE. While the outside is amazing, I was kinda disappointed on the top 2 floors. They were sparse with just toys on those floors. But the outside, roof and bottom floor is great. Plus the top 2 floors offers me a chance to MOC those levels. I also have the MF and while I'm not a huge Lego Star Wars fan, I LOVE the movies. I got the MF as a gift and probably wouldn't buy it on my own. Having built, I think it is awesome and brought me back to the movies. There are so many neat features that they pack in there. After building it, I would have bought it had I known what a great build it was. You really can't go wrong with either but I would go with the GE as it probably will be go sooner than the MF (not by much though I think). Pet Shop is next on my list after the Winter Cottage (which I'm ordering tonight) and Fire Brigade.

Which set should I buy?
Thanks Dayz for the reply. So I asked my fiance which she liked better (shes not into Legos other than the architectural sets) and she like GE. So I might go that route. So let's say TLG decides to EOL one of them, how does the process go? Do they make an announcement or something? What happens to prices immediately (I mean that day) after they make the announcement?

Which set should I buy?
Modulars question? I think these are really cool and I'm looking to get my 1st. I know I will get the Pet Shop but i would like to get either the GE or FB with all the talk of both of them EOLing. It's a no brainer if one or both of them EOLs, I'll start with them. Let's say they both stay in production. Which is the better set to start with the notion that I will get the other later? Which is a better modular to start with? I like to MOC however this set will probably be displayed. Thanks for your help!!

ordering old boats
I can say from my one experience, yes it is. That was my concern too but I think if you read the sellers bio you should be ok. I am already looking for my next ship to add to my fleet! PS--good use of cut and paste from my original post.

Bricklink questions
Thanks to all that helped me with my previous post. I have caught the Lego bug big time now. Can someone explain how ordering from outside your country works on Brinklink? I bought 1 ship on there from a USA dealer (oh I live in the USA) and it went well. What happens when you try to buy from outside the USA? I try to look for USA vendors but sometimes their prices are a little pricey. Thanks for all your help!

ordering old boats
Thank for all the responses, I pulled the cannon on the BSB from Bricklink. Not sure what a "good" price but I paid under $150 and it looks nice. I'm happy and I'll be happy when it gets here!

ordering old boats
Thanks, I've added to the new people section. I think I will dabble at Brinklink, I need to get some more ships. Of the older ones, which do people prefer? I know that's a hard question to answer. Let's say if price is no object, which do people prefer to simply build and enjoy?

Hi from MD, USA
I posted earlier and forgot to say hi! I came out of my dark ages about this time last year when I moved closer to home and my parents gave me all my stuff from when I was young. Of which was about 6 paper copy boxes filled with sorted by color Legos! Well it took me awhile to build what I had directions for, which was mostly castle and space from the 80s-90s. That took all summer. Since then I've add a bunch of Architectural sets, QAR, IF, BP ships, Millennium Falcon, and VW van. Looking to expand and try to get all the pirate ships. Glad I found this site.

ordering old boats
I recently came out of my dark ages when my parents unloaded my old Legos, including the Red Beard Runner and a ton of my old castle sets. Now my fleet consists of RBR, QAR, IF, & BP. I would like to add more ships to my fleet. Through Brinkset I found this site and Brinklink. My question is it safe to order from them? There are sets on there for more than half of the price on Amazon and Ebay. I am not looking to make an investment, I simply want the all the pieces in good shape and preferably the directions. What can you, the experts, recommend to someone like me? I love all the MOCs on here!! That is my goal this summer.
