    Agree 100%.
  2. I've got a tracking number but it looks like my order hasn't actually been sent yet. There is no movement on tracking info. :(
  3. Just bought 5 of those Elf poly's . Haha not sure why, but I immediately thought about filling out the Mirkwood spider and Warg scene with them even though the elves don't appear in those scenes in the book :p.
  4. What's with the lack of Rohan soldiers? Of all the sets you get one soldier, compared to like 10 Uruk Hai soldiers. That Frodo polybag should have been a Rohan soldier to go along with the Uruk Hai poly.
  5. Wow no Zombie, Roman, or Spartan? If I were TLG, I would have gone on Bricklink picked the 5 most expensive CMF on the reseller market and just re-released those. As those are the ones where demand is high.
  6. Meh, it looks as if they took the template of Hellcarrier Breakout andCrazy Scientist from the Moster Fighters set, and superimposed Spidey on top. Not interested.
  7. Love your Ned, love your Selmy. In the books Renly has long hair and is always covered in Forest Green, so maybe green legs and a green cloak? A Song of Ice and Fire is my favorite book series ever, and of course I am a big fan of the HBO show. Keep up the good work! I'd love to start MOCing GoT myself sometime soon.
  8. If we are talking promotional minifigures, there is none more perfect than Tom Bombadil. Of course, Peter Jackson decided to omit Tom from the movies completely, so those who have never read the books (the large majority of LoTR fans IMO) would have no idea who he is. I would love to see him in his blue outfit and hat. Of course, I'm also pretty sure LEGO's LoTR license only covers characters and events that were depicted in the films.
  9. Tempting. Considering I have a ton of VIP points. I think I'll wait until my local LEGO store carries these, so I can save on shipping.
  10. I will say this in every thread discussing new themes until I am blue in the face... TLG needs to make a Roman Empire theme. I know they never ever make historically accurate sets, so call the theme "Empires" or "Legions" or something like that. That would solve the problem of having an actual historical place being attached to the sets. They can can make the combatants the Barbarians, or Prince of Persia styles Arabians. Or, even cooler they can do Greeks, Spartans, or maybe even the mythological Gods. A Clash of the Titans styled theme. I know this might fall under the historical umbrella, but I feel these sets would work better with action like features. Things like catapults, balistas, or undersea or sky palaces for the Gods and what not.

Unless you know something we don't, Kingdoms is dead and buried for at least the life of the LoTR license, just like Pirates was killed off in favor of PoTC. I've been purchasing as many old sets I can afford on Bricklink to get my fill.
  12. You had better luck than me. The two LEGO store employees I talked to yesterday in the Manhattan NYC store had no idea there were even new sets coming out.
  13. Wow, am I seeing that right? TRU is selling Helm's Deep for more $$$ than nearly all of the Modular buildings? Jeez.
  14. I would say no. I am as big of LoTR fan as anyone, having read all 4 books including The Silmarillion and The history of Middle Earth, and I happen think the new LoTR sets are lame. I'm also a big comic book fan and only like a few of the DC Heroes sets and none of the Avengers sets. Funny enough, I've never read a single Harry Potter book and I love the HP sets. So I guess it works both ways as well. :)
  15. I have been saying this for years. The Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians are amongst the most prolific builders in human history. The wonderful diversity of myths and historical events from each of these cultures is enough to drive countless amazing sets. Yet TLG has always refrained. Imagine a UCS Coliseum? or a Roman fort? What about the Olympian gods? Sooo much good stuff. It's so much of a no brainer that I HAVE to assume that TLG has already thought of putting these out and has decided to hold back for some unknown reason. Perhaps the themes are too explicitly historic? I've noticed that all of TLG's "historic" themes are all somewhat ambiguous. "Imperial Soldier" as opposed to French Legionnaire, or the "Lion" King as opposed to Richard the Lionheart. To my knowledge TLG has never done an actual historic set, just romanticized elements from the past. Because of this, something tells me they never will. :( Regarding Classic Castle vs. LoTR... My vote stands clearly with the Castle theme. I love LoTR, I've read all the books and even the expanded fiction such as the Silmarillion. I'm just not crazy about these sets. The minifigs are amazing no doubt, I just find the sets to be kind of bland. I love to build classic castles, with draw bridges, keeps, towers, etc etc. Medieval history is my favorite period of all. LoTR just does not fill that void. There are no classic medieval elements in LoTR other than swords and shields. The design of the world is much more fantastical than medieval. I really hope LoTR sticks around long enough to get cooler sets like the white tower at Isengard or Minas Tirith, or Minas Morgul! I just hope it doesn't stick around at the expense of Kingdoms/Castle. For me, those are two different itches that need scratching.
