  1. pretty damn sweet looking figs! If these are all from one set, the set being Bag End, and this implies it being around the same size as weathertop maybe moria I'm a bit disappointed though. Was really hoping for Bag End to be of helmsdeep size. Screw the fact that it's to peacefull I want Bag End to be as big as can be
  2. A big part of why I liked the lego harry potter games was the inventive and humorous way they handled the story without saying anything. Some scenes are pure brilliance. On the other hand they had to cut quite a few corners because there weren't any spoken lines. So maybe having some lines at key points will work out fine, I'll hold judgement untill I know more.
  3. I honestly can't see this happening. I know star wars is insanely successful, but that doesn't justify a set like this imo. I'm not a big star wars lego fan, one of my least favourite themes within lego. I still do have some star wars sets because they are interesting builds or cool depictions of famous movie scenes. This just isn't interesting to anyone but hardcore star wars lego fans I think. Then again, I'd probably buy a similiair set if it was Kingdoms or LOTR themed so maybe I'm just biased EDIT: P.S. I do find it funny that project like this is on CUSOO and ends up with 10.000 votes. But I don't think CUSOO should be (mis)used just for kicks and giggles.
  4. Ok good point, I guess it's a fun feature for kids. I remember spending hours using catapults and such when I was a kid, my 6 yr old self is probably just jealous for not having flickfire missiles in his time. I don't have a problem with them to be honest, they usually are inconspicuous enough not to bother me.
  5. the monster fighters castle has a flickfire spider, although it's not in a strange place I just can't make sense of it. I guess it's an easy +1 to play features, they do have a tendency to put them anywhere they can lately.
  6. I usually don't buy sets just for the minifigures, but they do add a lot of value to sets for me. So much even that they can persuade me into buying a set that I think is mediocre if not for the minifigures. Also if the minifigures are unusually cool or rare I will buy a set for the minifigures. Although the rest of the set has to appeal to me either in build or parts. I recently bought the PotC london escape mainly for the minifigures (wanted a jack sparrow with hat and more soldiers), but refrained from the harry potter battle for hogwarts set even though the minifigures are pretty cool/rare. My decision was based on the fact that the PotC set has some decent spare parts I can use while the HP set has lots of large pieces and won't add many spare parts I want.
  7. I played around with LDraw a bit, but I found the program rather fussy. It's great to have every piece imaginable to play with, but building something felt more like a chore then actually having fun. Might give LDD a go if it's more easy to use. Thanks for the links, I'll make sure to check those out. It's always nice to meet fellow crazies.
  8. Language is pretty much majority vote I think. If enough people use LEGO as plural it goes, if enough people use legos as plural it goes as well. Although since it's a trademark things get complicated. They have the right to encourage people to use LEGO over legos, but I doubt they would refuse service to anyone using the term legos. I myself prefer LEGO, language is complicated enoguh without adding extra letters to it when it's not needed On a related note, is playing with LEGO refered to as "I'm playing with lego" or "I'm legoing"? I'm dutch and as a kid I used to spend my days with 'legoen' which translates to 'legoing'. Now I'm older I can't stand people using the term. Anyone else have strong feelings about either of those?
  9. Nope, any I definately shouldn't miss out on? About the nickname.. When I once had to make an account for some site, I put in one of my regular usernames. It was taken, and out of the blue it suggested I should use Insane Ostrich instead. I found it hilarious and decided to stick with it
  10. Can't wait till this arrives around here. Most dutch stores that list them already either have no date or anything ranging from the end of june to the end of september. Guess I'll just have to be patient...
  11. I'd say saloon first, I think it's the most iconic of western town buildings and a nice central piece to build the rest of the town around. Also I can imagine it was one of, if not the first building to get built in a real western town as well. Oh and ofcourse, congrats and a huge thank you to marshal banana for this awesome build and getting the required amount of votes
  12. Hi there, I’ve been lurking around eurobricks for some time now and figured it would be polite to finally register and introduce myself. I’m 26 years old, living in the Netherlands. I recently came back to LEGO after years of only taking secret glances at awesome MOC’s online and at new sets whenever I found myself in toy stores. It started (again) when I finally bought the medieval village a few years ago. It looked so damn awesome and I've always been a fan of castle themes. Later I also bought the Volkswagen beetle, because I owned a real one at the time and the set looked great (and it is ). A few months ago I gave in entirely and started figuring out how I could seriously get back into the LEGO game. I bought the kingdoms jousting set and quite a few Harry Potter sets, some really cools sets imo. I’m really looking forward to the new monster hunters and LOTR sets to. I’m mostly into historical and fantasy themes as you might have guessed by now. So far I’ve only been collecting sets. However, I also want to start MOCing. I just have to sort out my LEGO’s in a way I can actually find pieces. And I also have to figure with what I want to start with, which is harder then I thought. I have a lot of ideas floating around, but my lack of experience in MOCing is holding me back, I should just start and see where it leads me I guess. Part of the reason I decided to register here is that I hope to find inspiration and tips to get me started and off course to share my creations once I finally start and like the result. Now that I've introduced myself, I'm of to reply to some topics I've been following.
