Is Mini Figure Customization Dead?
Hammerstein NWC replied to Project Black Brick's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
The minifig customization community is thriving just not here at Eurobricks. one thing to bear in mind is that Lego produces so many licenses now that a lot of the customs we used to have to make - superheroes, starwars etc. are now thriving franchises. If you look more over at instagram you will see that people are still making customs every day. The metamorphosis of figs that break the traditional legs body and head model is being pushed everyday by companies working using Lego parts such as citizen brick, eclipsegrafx to people like Jin.customs who are building adds on to minifigs making them more size appropriate. companies like beickaffliction are making the model “realistic” molds which are more akin to wargames figs like games workshop. the customs community is thriving more than ever but for me personally I see it more as sub culture of Lego rather than the building roots most of us are more connected with. -

[M4-22 - Purist Minifigs] - Force Users

Thanks for the positive and constructive Criticism - I appreciate the positive comments and you are totally correct about Ayala - I put these five together about an hour before I had to go to work, I flat ran out of time to make a fifth figure here and couldn’t find a purist torso I liked - but sad that a) my camera broke and I had to take these with my iPhone and b) Ayala took a hit to make the deadline. I’m just glad I was able to take part though! I was pretty pleased with how the figs turned out so it’s nice to hear good stuff from someone :). cheers -

I'm about as non purist as they come. I like to try and make both purist and non purist figs from the parts available. Sometimes Lego hasn't got round to doing things. i think Lego does take note of the customising community - Look at how popular the early superhero figs were before the Batman lego first came out. Another example is of how lego came round to printing tshirt arms. All of these things were massive in the customising community before Lego embraced what people wanted! I say do whatever you like! I love Brickwarriors stuff, however I do agree that sometimes the extra detail detracts from the overall product as it gets lost in the one colour mold. the trident is a good example - it's not an upgrade on the lego one but if the binding came in brown on it I would buy it all day! I guess the thing with these custom parts is there are plenty of people who having used the custom part would make a fantastic job of then painting that detail! I'm also a weirdo totally happy to make non purist lego figs but highly unlikely to use non lego bricks in a build unless for a specific competition! -
Fantastic parts use all round and super presentation!

Favourite TLM2 CMF Minifigures and Accessories Poll
Hammerstein NWC replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think the series is pretty good, I adore the Wizard of Oz figs. they totally nailed em! I wish they had been out a while back when I did my oz figbarf. I don't like the K-pop style figs but the Oz figs, Abe and Rex Dangervest make up for it. There are some quite cool accessories especially the Abe hat hair and the golf club! -
What an absolutely magnificent creation! A true testament to teamwork and creativity! Hats off to all involved looks to me that everyone bought their A-game and individually people hit it out of the park too! Well done all!
