Oh yeah, but I was just fooling around, I snagged a CITY polybag racer at TRU that day and just built it in two pieces. I have to organize my parts better, they're everywhere right now and I haven't built much big in a long time. Aw thanks. I don't know what i'm going to do next though. i'm having fun making purist versions of other Marvel Heroes and Villains. Yeah, I wish I had the Captain America as well, but I can't complain.

What is the torso you're using on Captain Cold? And how are you achieving the extra waist on Amazo?

Haha, yeah it's the toyfair Iron Man, but I don't have the other version and who else will fight Whiplash? ;)

I did two little scenes, one from the Weapon X program and one from Ironman 2. Yeah, it's just a modified Helli-carrier breakout tank, but as soon as I saw it all I could think was Weapon X.. So I whipped up a custom Wolverine, Professor Thorton and a nurse for the scene. i'm just waiting on some control panel tiles and a few hoses to complete it. Next is that scene from Iron Man 2 where Whiplash slices Tony's race car in half and then fights Iron Man. I was looking at the spring and I thought that it would make a half decent Whiplash weapon so I attempted a purist custom whiplash. Then I built a small race car in two bits, some ashphalt and had him fight Iron Man. everything is 100% unmodified LEGO. I hope you like them ok. Phil

We live in a time with a LEGO Batman, Boba Fett AND Wolverine! Definitely a golden age for LEGO. :)

I was just in Japan on Vacation about a month ago, with the intention of specifically hunting for toys in second hand shops, and other than Kiddyland in Harajuku and The Clickbrick store in Tokyo Station- I didn't see any LEGO. BUT the Click Brick store was really rather neat. It is like a LEGO retail store, but different. I picked up a LEGO Batman keychain and some catalogs. But they had t-shirts, engraving on brick keychains, sets, a build your own minifig (with dark green legs, which I don't see often). It was a fun little shop. phil

I understand completely- I have two MOC spaceships I built maybe 7-8 years ago that got disassembled and I didn't take adequate photos to rebuild them and I regret it... but there's always something new to build I suppose.

It's interesting to hear the different opinions on the subject. The more I think about it, the more I believe I fall on the "I'll disassemble them after a time" side of the fence... They are LEGO, their purpose is to build and create- if I want a model I will leave on display forever, then I'll just buy a model, or a statue or something. And I won't be selling the sets, if I sold anything it would be the minifigs. So ultimately keeping these old sets in bags maybe isn't in my best interest.... I think I'd rather build then know I have a Jabba's Sail Barge sitting in a box somewhere.

As long-time AFOLs, I have a question that is on my mind. You buy a set. It's a new Pirate ship, or a a big Star Destroyer. You spend the time building it and you display it proudly. Then what? Does it stay together in its original form? Do you take it down after a set time and disassemble it? What happens 3 or 30 sets down the line when you're running out of flat surfaces in your home to display LEGO creations? Then do you take them down? What about that MOC that's 100% your own creation? It took months, maybe years to build. What will it's lifespan be? Does it stay together indefinitely, or until you need those rare parts on a new model? I'm just curious, because I'm always interested in LEGO, sometimes more actively then others, and in my last bout I was heavy into the Star Wars theme.. Now I'm enjoying the Superheroes theme, but I don't have much space in my home to dedicate to LEGO displays, and I already have about 3 Tupperware totes of SW models, each model separately bagged up. I want to build, but I don't know if I should say to hell with keeping those sets "together" so to speak, or to raid them for parts for new builds. Right now I essentially have 3 totes full of LEGO bricks in limbo. I can't display them, and I can't use them. What sort of compromise have other AFOLs reached? phil

I have to echo a lot of folks sentiment. I go through phases of collecting LEGO. I was heavy into Bionicle when it first came out, and then fell out of it. I got majorly into Classic Trilogy Star Wars sets when the flesh tone figures came out. I own all the rebel ships and any of the bounty hunter related stuff (Slave 1, Jabba's Palace)- but eventually they all ended up in Tupperware bins at my Parent's basement. I've fallen out of SW, mainly because I can't for example justify buying a $100+ Millennium Falcon every couple years. I love the sets I have but they aren't out due to space issues. I collect other things, and LEGO takes up a lot of real estate. And now I'm getting into the Superheroes sets, especially the Marvel sets, but I've limited myself to just 2 so far because of space. I'd love to get the Hulk Breakout set, but I don't have a shelf to put it. I'd love to build a small section of City, to have the Superheroes inhabiting it fighting crime, but I don't have space dedicated to it. And of course there's the money issues.

That reminded me of an old custom! Can't believe I did this back 9 years ago!

I'd love to see a Thor set with Beta Ray Bill in it. :) Or a continue the trend of Spider-Man sets with the addition of a B-list (or even A-list, I'm not picky) hero in minifig form.

I'm loving the Norman Osbourne by sam and Bruce Banner Cornelius! Here is a clearer shot of my Doctor Strange, King Cobra, Ultimates Taskmaster, and Sabretooth (although I think I'm going to go with Lucius Malfoy hair once I can track it down.)

Hi everybody, this is my first post on the forum, thought I'd share some of my interpretations of some Marvel characters in minifig form: From left to right we have: King Cobra, Doctor Strange, Taskmaster and Red Skull. All three have some artistic license in regards to their looks; taskmaster is a blend of his original and "ultimates" look, King Cobra face is obviously not his typical face, but I went with more of a mutant snake-man look... But I am super happy with my Doctor Strange. What do you think? Phil
