Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
Appreciate the comments, TheLegoDr! I too was never really into the custom side of Lego and just enjoyed all the new themes that would come out...hoping my daughter would get into Legos and we could enjoy building and creating together. Then, as we were playing last Spring, she said "wouldn't it be cool if I could play as me as a Lego?" So, I started looking into it and low and behold, was led to Eurobricks, a great forum for learning about everything Lego. With all the great help forums and ideas here, and the support of several members, I started doing decals, learning what worked and didn't. After a few months, I finally got the hang of it (I think I do, at least) and am enjoying how I can, as you say, create what Lego doesn't. I like filling the gaps where my imagination goes. That's where this Dark Knight Rises theme came from. While I like the new cowl design and the throw back designs of Batman figures, I really think the Dark Knight-based figures aren't on the same par as the Avenger, Star Wars, or even LOTR figures, design-wise. I was fairly dissappointed by the Bane design and the lack of other figures from the series. So, here I am, hoping to get that print deal to go through and see it realized. Thanks for the comments, and if you do get "the itch" to try designing and get into the custom Lego design, please share on here, as it would be fun to see what you come up with.

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
Thanks, Ceroknight! I too agree about the hair and was debating how to go about this. The issue is that the Bruce Wayne minig that this was based on (click Here) has black hair, but as you can see from the movie, actually has dark brown hair. I decided on the brown to be more accurate, but don't have that hair piece yet in my own collection to take a pic of for the "mock-up." Will be sure to use the brown piece I printed, for sure!

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
I just sent in some "mockup" pics (where I overlay the designs on pictures of the blank pieces) to help the printers see how the final look should turn out, so cross your fingers they can print them as needed at the right cost As such, thought I'd share a few of the pics, mostly updates of the ones I've previously posted, with pics of the how Officer Blake might turn out, and the Bruce Wayne (recluse version from TDKR). Once I have confirmation on the printing of some of them, I'll post the rest of the pics to help show what's coming. Hopefully it all will work out and I'll have some custom printed Dark Knight figs available in the near future! Coming soon: Pics of Bane, Batman, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, Commissioner Gordon (trenchcoat version & new custom SWAT version - TDK), Lucius Fox, Alfred, Ra's al Ghul - black suit (end of Batman Begins), Ra's al Ghul - gray suit (beginning of BB), and Scarecrow/Dr. Crane. Officer Blake (mockup) Bruce Wayne - Recluse TDKR (mockup)

Gladiator - Maximus Custom Minifig (WIP)
Hey everyone, So, here is another custom I made this past summer, this one of Maximus Decimus Meridius, Russell Crowe's character from the Oscar winning "Gladiator" film...my personal favorite film of all time. I did the decaling and took pics, earlier this year, but I was never happy with the face. I was going to redo the face when I finished with all the Dark Knight designs, but those took MUCH longer than I had anticipated and I am now back to much busy levels with my job and don't see anytime in the near future where I might be able to improve it. I'm hoping later this fall it might slow down enough to rework this one to my own level of satisfaction, so I'll call it a Work In Progress for now. I was also hoping to do a design of Emperor Commodus, but never got around to doing it, though I'd love to attempt to design his torso! So, thought I'd share how the first round of the face design process went, and hopefully post later this year an updated face for this. Hope you enjoy and as always look forward to hearing your feedback and thoughts! Maximus Back (as you can see, I'm even too lasy to Brasso off the stubble from the original face in the back

Series 8 Cheerleader Decal
Not a bad first effort at decal design, CM4S! It looks very good and close to the real Lego. If you are looking for more critical and constructive feedback on the design, I did notice one major thing to work on in this design, and something to consider for future designs. If you notice, the lines for the...boobs ...is not the same on each side. Same with the female side shape lines, each side is different from the other. A good practice is to make one as close to accurate as you can, copy and paste, and then use the flip function and the alignment aids in Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator to make sure they are exactly aligned on each side. That would allow for a more accurate and balanced design and a cleaner look. Other than that, great first attempt and look forward to seeing more...the more custom designers the better for us all!

Boonta Eve Podrace Stadium
Whoa! That is ridiculously immense, that had to take some crazy planning and collecting of materials...can't imagine the length of those instructions This is epic and very close to what I remember seeing in that scene in the movie! Keep it up and looking forward to the final product!

The Penguin's Movie and Cartoon Minifigures. )
I absolutely LOVE your Captain Hook! I was very impressed with all the little details with him, very cool indeed! The Disney characters are great too, but Hook is my favorite! I was thinking of doing a Merida from "Brave" for my daughter...this might have spurred me on Looking forward to seeing your next creations! Also, where did you get the face for the Butler custom? I was curious and not sure i've seen that face before.

Soccer/International Football Customs
The Messi definitely doesn't have the right hair nowadays, with his shorter hair, but at the beginning of the 2011/12 season he had this hair...which is what I originally based the figure on and ordered parts for. I may post a pic with his shorter hair. The RVP one I think I'm gonna wait until next year, as I can't stand that scottish looking jersey MUtd have this year and it would be good to see him in his new United digs If only there was a good way to represent hair plugs with Legos, right? Appreciate the comments everyone! Wish I had more time to do customs, but been busy again at work, may be awhile before I can add more to the collection here. I may try my hand at Fernando Torres, Xavi, Mario Gomez, Iker Casillas, and Beckham for the next go round. And Drogba - 2012 Champions League version is still coming along...face needs adjustments.

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
I apologize for that, I figured since this is where people have looked and know about the designs, it made more sense, in case there were people who were interested. I won't do that next time. I'll post it in the Selling, Trading forum next time, is that right?

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
For anyone interested, I had two extra torsos that I made of the Batman and Catwoman in decals and clear coat that I thought I'd sell, if anyone was interested. It's listed on eBay here, so check it out! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

The Bat from TDKR.
Ah, these are great, BaraSH together!! I am awaiting the pieces to build my own copy of your BatPod, as I thought that was awesome...but this is even more impressive. The scale seems perfect and it has everything you'd want to see in a to-scale Bat....great job!!

Tiger Woods Minifig
No kidding! His play this year on the weekends is just unreal bad...so unlike the "old" Tiger! If the old Tiger was here (statistically, that is), he'd have two Majors this year (possibly). That would leave him with only three to go to pass Jack...weird year...and too bad. We'll see if he can pull it together and play better tomorrow and maybe finish his round better...and stay in contention.

Tiger Woods Minifig
As I'm also a big golf fan...thought I'd do a rendition of my favorite...Tiger Woods. Though he's not enjoying his old form as of yet (I still hope...), he still is well known world round. Thanks to the new hats available from TLG, I was able to really get the look I was after. I painted the hat with three coats of black spray paint, and added the TW logo. On the side of the hat (not visible), I have also added the V-irons logo (will post a pic when I can get the light right to see it). After I applied the face decal, because he was smiling, I had to add some white paint pen to the mouth and eyes. (I'm starting to get the hang of it). I just figured his smile is worth the effort (10 decal application and white paint pen attempts to get this... ). The only thing I wasn't happy with was the loss of color in the collar flesh area of the torso...not sure how the color faded so bad with the white decal paper... Hope you like him and looking forward to hearing your feedback! Decal: Clear Decal: And for those crazy enough to try to do the paint pen like I did for the mouth and eyes (hopefully you have steadier hands then I do )

Soccer/International Football Customs
Just finished the Messi and Ronaldo - Man Utd 2008 figs and added the pics and decals above. I think I like this version of Ronaldo and his flesh color better than the other one. Will love to hear what you all think of them. Still hoping to finish Drogba (Chelsea version) and Van Persie this weekend, so stay tuned.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid Minifig
Thanks everyone for the great comments! I agree, I'm not 100% happy with the skin color of the head piece either, it was much darker than I had anticipated, unfortunately. Tomorrow, I should have my last few soccer players done (Messi, Ronaldo - 2008 Man Utd, and Van Persie)

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
I'm getting closed to finished on the Dark Knight series minifig designs and was finishing up Ducard/Ra's Al Ghul's face when I realized he has three separate/major torso possibilities from "Batman Begins." While I might design all three at sometime, the clock is ticking a bit so I will only have time now for just 1 torso if I am going to finish them all. So, I'm wondering, or asking you all as Lego fans, which of the following Ra's Al Ghul torsos/costumes would be most appealing and wanted as a Lego fig: 1. Opening Suit - when he visits Bruce in prison and greets Bruce at the top of the mountain fortress. 2. Training Suit or 3. Final Dark Suit - which he wears when attacking Gotham I did think that possibly you could get away with substituting Luke Skywalkers RTOJ torso or even Anakin's ROTS torso. Both would be decent substitutes, though there are some elements that would need to be added possibly and I think they aren't completely accurate for Ra's training costume in the film. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion on this and hoping to get your feedback as I think this is a minifigure that would be cool to add to the mix. So far, I've got custom designs for Alfred, Officer Blake, Bruce (unfit - from beginning), Batman (DK & DKR version torso and back), Catwoman, and of course Bane. I'm finishing on a new Lucius Fox, Miranda Tate (end of movie clothes), Commissioner Gordon torso (Trench coat version w/TLG head, since it is good enough, though I may make my own), Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul/Ducard, and Rachel....these will be coming soon

What is this deal? I haven't heard of it and can't find the post describing it here. I live in the US, will it be available here, as well?

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
I am still awaiting some last minute information about machine printing these, so I will know by next week if they'll be available to purchase soon. If you're not interested in machine printed or would just prefer ones with decals as are shown in this post, PM me and we can work something out, as the ones I have my kids like too much to sell. Let me know and glad you like them!

LOTR Project: The Return of the King
That is a great build!! Love how realistic this looks!! I immediately was impressed by your figures, and I especially like your Denethor and Gothmog. I'm gonna have to look into your other sets...

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
Thanks, Jim Butcher! I tend to agree, the Hawkeye hair piece might work better. It's hard to tell, as there isn't a hair piece to match, really. Appreciate your feedback and glad you liked the decal. As was mentioned in the Decal Wish List, I've added a Bruce Wayne recluse version from when how he looked at the beginning of TDKR. Information is provided along with the decal. I think it would work best with a dark gray torso and arms and the Swept back hair or the Hero hair found at Firestar Toys, etc. Just a suggestion. Hope you all like it!

Decal Wish List
I finished the Bruce Wayne - Recluse version (or unfit as you say) from TDKR and you can find it in my other post on TDKR designs here. I based the face on the Nolan Bruce Wayne minifig featured in the post and would suggest it be used with a dark gray torso and arms and looking at the pics, I would say it might be better to use the Side Swept hair or hero hair as he only uses the comb back hair when out and about or at parties. Just a suggestion, again, it is really up to you how to use it, right? Hope it works out well and is what you were hoping for. So, that should be all from your list except for Ra's Al Ghul. I have finished the face but am wondering what torso you were looking for? In Batman Begins, he is found with a suit, a training outfit, and another black suit at the end (pics below). Which one did you want? I would think the ROTJ Luke torso would work well for the training one, and if you just wanted the head decal, just let me know and I'll just post that. Otherwise, please post pics of how you would like it to look. Thanks and hopefully will have other TDK and TDKR decals coming soon. Ra's Al Ghul (Batman Begins)

From Flesh to Yellow
Ha! I don't know why I didn't think of this before, as I do it all the time for my painted pieces...thanks for sharing...that should solve the issue!

Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp Version)- Custom Minifig
Those would be some wild but awesome sets! I too imagine how cool those would be (Especially the first room with the river of chocolate!) Mad Hatter would be a fun follow up to this...really any Tim Burton or Depp one would be fun to create/see! If I make one, I'll post it Thanks again everyone, your comments are so kind, I appreciate them all!

Decal Wish List
I've been working on these a bit...haven't thought of doing a Bruce Wayne from the beginning of the movie...but I could try out one...should it be based on the latest LEGO version of Bruce Wayne or start new? I've finished the Officer Blake version and posted it in my original post here. Hope you like...let me know what you think.

Dark Knight Rises - Custom Minifigs
Thanks a lot, jedikermit! I too was disappointed that TLG did not release a TDKR Catwoman, but they still might...we'll see I guess. Hopefully, this machine printing will go through so you all will have a chance to enjoy it in its best form. I'll keep you all informed...should know for sure by the end of this week. In the Request forum, I saw a request for TDKR characters, and I'm still working on a few of them, but have finished my Officer Blake design and posted it above. I don't plan on machine printing this, but still am releasing this under the Creative Commons license foundhere Hope you all enjoy and look forward to your feedback.
