    Absolutely stunning, sirs. Bravo. Rawel.

Alright, I think it's time that TLG started fusing their LotR and Architecture lines. Barad-Dur, Orthanc, Minas Tirith, Rivendel, Helm's Deep - the possibilities are endless. Rawel.

This, sir (or madam, as the case may be :P), is ridiculous. Major kudos. Rawel
  5. I was going to suggest trying something like rafsemedo posted - I think the opposite 2x6 arches like really create the size wanted. And 1x4 arches would make good windows, as well. I'm also wondering if you could use the technic pin with a stud on one side between the two arches to increase stability. Idk, fun ideas to play with. Good luck to both of you, and I hope to someday see some awesome hobbit holes :P. Rawel.

I've not worked in micro scale as of yet, as I usually am not a huge fan of how they look. This, however, is making me want to attempt it. Unfortunately, I'm guessing my attempt won't be this beautiful, which makes me not want to try it again... :P Rawel.
  7. Just got and assembled Uruk-Hai Army last Friday - my first LoTR set and my first Fleshy set! Woot! Hope your day is going well, Rawel.
  8. Sean Kenney is easily one of my heros - if you haven't checked out his website yet, you most definitely should: www.seankenney.com Normally when I add a book to my long list of "Books I Want for the Library I Plan on Having Someday" I use a "pushback" function, but I may have to use a normal "push" here - this book is awesome. (Sorry, I had to add the nod to programmers in there ) Hope everyone's day is going swimmingly, Rawel.
  9. Simply stunning! I love the cracks that you've included in the ceiling and walls - they give the MOC a great feeling. Rawel.
  10. Very impressive. Your MOCs continue to amaze me. I particularly enjoy the use of the beards and dripping wax - nicely done. Rawel.
  11. This, my friend, is epic. Major kudos. Rawel.

Very nice. Fantastic landscaping, and I really like the fetid looking green water. Kudos. Rawel.
  13. I find this to be an intriguing debate. While I don't own any flesh-colored minifigs as of yet (I'm fresh out of my DA, but I don't have the money at the moment to buy anything new, so I'll have to stick with the LEGOs I've got for now :P), I can't say I have any huge problems with them. While I haven't bought LEGOs in a while, I have followed their releases rather well, and I remember being very confused when they first released the flesh tone stuff, but I think they kind of make sense (although it kind of annoys me with the Star Wars and Harry Potter stuff, as I have many of the older, yellow mini-fig sets). The thing that I find most interesting, though, is people's aversion to mixing the skin tones. I can understand keeping "purity" in a specific set or LEGO designed world, but in a MOC, I would think that the different tones could just be used to represent differently colored people, as that's how people work in the real world. IDK, I guess I'll see how I feel after I get some of the LoTR sets (which I plan to buy many of... when I have the money :P) and incorporate the mini's into my collection. Hope your day is going well, Rawel.

I would love to see a picture of what you have thus far - it would help clarify what you're trying to do a bit, as I'm new to all of this. However, from your description, I'm wondering if you could make the portcullis a bit wider than what's actually going to be seen. That way, you could build slots just wide enough to hold it in place horizontally, and then widen them just enough to hold the gear and rack. I'd give you a picture of a drawing, but I'm at work right now - I'll try some ASCII art :P ________ ________| ......|_| ...O<========= ______| | ________| Top down: O is the gear, < is the rack, = is portcullis and | | is a brick ... are empty space (empty spaces are trimmed after posting) Obviously, this isn't going to be scale on what you want, but I think it gets the point I'm trying to make across. I don't know if this is exactly what you want, but I hope I helped a bit. Oh, and if you're doing this the way I think you're doing this, it's an AWESOME method, and your kid is truly lucky. Rawel
