  1. this is really a tough question, since i think they are all well made, espacially the fellowship (allthough legolas looks a bit weired to me). the printing on the uruk-hais and the hobbits are marvelous, but i finally chose gandalf. he looks exactly as i imagined when reading the books. i just love his beard and grey hat...
  2. i've read in the official reply to the cuusoo project "dark bucket" that for star wars, lego only has the license for "building toys" not for "action figures" and that is why they have to keep the ratio of minifigs and building bricks in one set more on the construction side. i guess quite a lot of people here are just waiting for huge army building sets to build massive displays with goblins, riders of rohan and orks (and yes uruk-hai army is a good start). does anybody know, if the same kind of licensing is an issue with LORT as well? regards, kenzaburo
  3. ca. 1984 - 2012 (age 14-41) last thing i remember was playing with a cool classic space set (and those spaceman were perfect scubadivers as well). i did lose contact to lego completely (no kids in the house) and got interested when the huge millenium falcon (lego 10179) was released, but never bought it (now i wish i had of course...) beeing a huge LOTR fan i just discovered by accident the new sets (beeing a huge movie fan i started playing the other lego games on xbox some time ago) and decided, i had to have them for my dvd/br collection on display...then i got hooked on the modular building series and here i am building lego sets again :-) regards, kenzaburo
  4. amazon.de is selling it (direct link to amazon.de) [ i hope posting the link is not against any rules ] regards, kenzaburo
  5. just to let my fellow german LOTR friends know: amazon.de started shipping yesterday shelob's attack and uruk-hai army and another german toystore on ebay shipped weathertop on monday (this seems to be exclusive to idee+spiel shops). so it has begun! :-) the other sets are still marked as shipping on 23rd of june. regards, kenzaburo
  6. my return-to-lego-process has been completed now off to new (lego-)frontiers!
  7. thanx for the review. i already pre-ordered this set and i'm desperately awaiting release date here in germany (supposed to be on 23rd of june) just from looking at the pictures on the net, i would assume 3 of these sets to extend helm's deep to get the right proportions (from a widht point of view, never mind hight). i would put one piece of wall exactly like this between the door section and the part where the bomb will explode and then i would add 2 more sets to the left of helm's deep, but slightly modified so that the wall is smoth and does not has this "round" extensions ( i hope you can make sense out of my words). together with the orks of the helm's deep set that would already give you a reasonably army. oh, i'm so excited!
  8. thanx a lot for your warm welcome! i just spent hours on the floor building the pet shop of the modular series. oh boy, all the fond memories of past time came back, but oh my did the parts change: bricks which go sideway? uneven numbers? more than 5 colors? my wife keppt laughing watching me staring at some odd pieces trying to figure out what one could do with them in free-build...
  9. fantastic build! i love it!!! and if you get bored, there are quite a few more castles at the river loire ;-)

Hi, I love those animals. Since I want to become a wildlife photographer I would love to build a set where you could show a real safari (like botswana, allthough no tigers there or india). one could add the whole safari camp, vehicles and of course a photographer with long tele lenses hiding in the bush :-) regards, kenzaburo
  11. hi, since i'm a non-native english speaker please bare with me! after 'lurking' for quite a few days now, i decided to register and of course to introduce myself. i'm a 41 years old guy from germany who played with lego a long time ago (all the good stuff is still in the attic). from those days i have some bricks, a few space classic sets, a train and lots of tracks and i remember very well when i got one of the first lego technik-sets available as a birthday present (my dad still has some of his lego bricks from the fifties(?)). i forgot all about lego (except the xbox games) when i just recently saw some news about lord of the ring sets. what can i say, it lured me onto the dark side, i started reading everything, i orderd the sets on amazon germany and i'm waiting for them to be shipped by 23rd of june. in addition to that i'm very intrigued by the modular building sets and i just remembered, there must be some of the "street"-plates in the attic as well. so for know, i will be sticking to the sets and start building according to the description, but i can already feel the need for doing some changes. and now i'm off to the attic looking for some of the old spaceman-minifigs :-) best regards, kenzaburo
