Another Mech...
This looks very cool, seriously, nice work! :) I like the color scheme and the way you've put together the unusual pieces, this looks like a real lego model because of the asymmetry and smooth build.

Pyrions --- XCA-36 - Cobalt Redknee - "Tarantula"
Hey peeps! Yep, I'm bumping/necroposting/whatever-floats-your-internet-lingo-boat, yay, but I've got a relatively good reason to do so! It has come to my attention I like trans red and black very much, so I have constructed almost an entire fleet ships for this faction. Currently I have 8 ships (including the good 'ol Cobalt Redknee) 100% or 99.95% complete (+ 4 random tiny little itty bitty octagonal speeder thingies), and a squadron of 19 associated minifigs. I have bought (read: I'm currently waiting for the invoices of) yet another huge amount of hoses, wedges, cockpits, windscreens, etc. as well as 20 blacktron I minifigs ready for the transformation and subsequent assimilation into the Pyrion horde :skull: , lol (well, when they arrive, that is... ), so those interested should have plenty to look at the next few weeks. I didn't get that many replies on this one , I hope people won't go berzerk over this, I'm just warming up for posting more. It's night over here and my video camera's battery wasn't charged, I'll have to wait till tomorrow (or the day after tomorrow in case I forget like usual) to get things up. Still, you're all free to post and make me happy However, I do have a blurry picture taken with the crappy camera on my mobile here, It's a top-front view taken far away, so as not to spoil any of the delicious details... For size comparison, the upper left ship is the Cobalt Redknee...

Pyrions --- XCA-36 - Cobalt Redknee - "Tarantula"
Hey people, this is my first MOC here, hope you like it :-) This is a homebrewed faction, more MOCs are on their way, but I first need to wait for some nice BrickLink packages. Anyhow, here's the description for the side and craft. Pyrions Setup: I've had the idea for a faction like this for quite a few years and BrickLink finally got me the parts required when I emerged from my dark ages. ;-) The Pyrions trouble the universe in black ships with trans-red windscreens, panels and other doodads sometimes accompanied by a dash of Cobalt blue. Their logo is a Cobalt blue spider over an ember. Logo version one, keep in mind it's been done using colours from the actual lego palette. I might one day request them as customs of some sort. And this is version two, without the red circle on the back. Background info: The Pyrions are the perfect example of what happens when a dangerous cult starts traversing the universe. The Pyrions have even more enemies than the Blacktron terrorist and Spyrius infiltration cells added together, but it doesn't really bother them. They have set out on a quest of eliminating any and all opposition. They use an assimilation routine: invade a primitive world and pose as gods. From that point on they will take over the entire planet and drain it from its natural resources. This routine has not only resulted in free access to a virtually unlimited supply of precious materials, but also blind support from these species. The horde must be stopped, but cooperation between several factions is required to establish an effective counter-offensive. XCA-36 - Cobalt Redknee - "Tarantula" The eXperimental Combat class "Cobalt Redknee" - model 36 - carrying Annihilator grade weaponry. It is a rather large fighter dubbed the "Tarantula" by friend and foe alike. It has not yet been taken into mass-production, but its efficiency has definitely been proved in field-tests. It sports 4 high-powered "Cobalt" plasma jet cannons, 6 "Nihillium" missile launchers and 6 "Firefly" short range low-power lasers. Its main speciality is its frontal assault. It is equipped with a sophisticated shield generator and augmented and fully integrated mainframe AI. This combination allows the Tarantula to very carefully calculate what radius and coordinates gaps in the shield "bubble" should have during weapon usage. This seamless integration of and communication between combat systems makes sure the Tarantula is no longer vulnerable at the front when opening fire, making fatal lucky shots very rare and ensuring utter superiority in dogfights with even significantly larger opponents. Thumbnails, they're clickable... So click them! :-P The original pics were far too large to either upload or link to, but Photobucket has this great way of storing thumbnails (the thumbnail URL only differs from the real pic by "th_"), which made making this wall 'o pics rather easy ;-) Took me a while to get the camera to work properly, but the result is nice I guess. Different perspectives Cockpit and Windscreen. Mmm, lovely trans-red... Overhead views and a cockpit pic Back 'o the craft and some greebling Greebling on top Bottom view Please keep in mind I'm still a novice in terms of MOCcing and my collection of parts doesn't reach a billion... :-P Have fun! :-)

Warning, Unidentified Flying Object approaching...
Nah, I'm afraid I'm a little bit younger than that ;-) At the moment I'm 16, but I'm going for my "highschool" (the Dutch equivalent I mean, but appearantly our school systems are a tad different from those in most other countries) exam, I'll be going to university after this summer (17 by then), to study Technical Informatics. Also, don't ask why I'm 16 and taking exams, that's a bit of a long story and... I'd rather not get into the boring routine of explaining it |-/ heheh ;-) Anyhow, anybody in here studying Informatics? *sweet*

Space Theme: General Discussion
I agree with you in almost every respect. The UFO set introduced a great deal of nice elements, the round panels and minifigs being the most obvious. They are still my favourite theme along with Blacktron II and I. The Interstellar Starfighter (atm I'm sitting right underneath it, I'm looking up to the shelf while I'm typing :-P ) was nicely priced. There were so many possibilities, the design was great, you can call it an enterprise rip-off if you want, but the design is so universal that I don't think it's fair Star Trek suddenly has a monopoly on saucer-bearing ships... Anyhow, the shuttle plates, saucer panels, optical fiber cables, and cones allowed for lots of MOCcing, I've seen the green panels return in soooo many M-tron creations... As for the cross-theme usefulness of some parts... Ever heard of a theme called Bionicle?... :-P 50% of lego's molds must be dedicated to Bionicle... Man, don't kids ever get enough of them?... ;-) Looks like Lego is listening to some of us (new castle line for ex.) we still don't know what those 3vil pics on the factory page were all about... If lego is working on a real space line again, then for gawd's sake, let them look back at the great things they've made, instead of the happy designers who are doing nothing but spouting and spraying "revolutionary ideas" involving rushed designs... Also, rock on, all UFO-fans! *alien*

Warning, Unidentified Flying Object approaching...
Nope, I don't have that one :-( , I was talking about the catalog sets, not the unusual sets that only appear at groceries and supermarkets, if you catch my drift. ;-) Btw, I have 3 recon robots... :-P They have a tabbed black hose (..... YEEAARGH *wub* ), a trans-red panel, a ton of useful hinges, and the somewhat expensive stud-block used for the head. Man, I bought one for $6.- in great condition, the block alone costs between 0.50 and 1 dollar nowadays... *sweet* In case anybody happens to be interested, pictures of my first space MOC to ever reach the evil "maze of teh internetz" ( |-/ ) Will appear in the space forum in a short while (aprox. 1 hour from now on), I got my digital camera to work, even though the settings on the damn thing require a rocket scientist, seeing the interface is plain bogus. I think I'll just upload my pics to photobucket, always did the job for me, I don't see why I should suddenly get a brickshelf account. *sweet*

Post your Building Rituals...
Setting: Lots of natural light, meaning actual SUN, I love it when the sun shines through my window, it's a lovely sight. Workspace: 90% of the time it's on my bed, the other 10% is somewhere on my desk, the kitchen table or the living room floor (in case of sorting the contents of BL packages). I also have a big red "project box", which contains the larger and rarer items I may need for a project, things like windshields, wedges, technic plates etc. Food: I only drink during building - like many other people - why'd I want my dear bricks to get greasy :-P I usually drink coffee and/or 7-Up Music: I don't always have music on, but when I do it's aggressive electronic music, dunno why, I just like it :-) Movies: ... I'm building Lego here, not watching a movie... ;-) When I'm done: I drool at my final creation/WIP and check my inventory. Then I clean up the drool.

What are you listening to?
Plug in baby - Muse About a dead - Hocico :-)

5617 - Alien Jet - Review.
Heheheh, was this set actually worth a review at all?... :-P Looks to me like a sad excuse for a TLG set, something the design team had to deliver just to fill up the spot of a small set, the kind of thing you'd see lying around in your average grocery in one of those huge "50% off" baskets, if you catch my drift... ;-) The movability of the guns is kinda weird, I haven't seen that technique before, usually the guns are in one fixed position on the mini-models. Other than that, there's not much to say... I'm not a fan of Mars Mission...

Galaxy Express
Looks very nice! I love the wings and tip on the long-nosed version, makes this baby look very sleek, a lot bigger (for some reason), and more importantly: like an actual spacecraft, heheh :-P I also like how the slightly discoloured gray pieces you used for the wings unintentionally create this sort of layered mechanical pattern that reminds me of an actual worn spacecraft hull, without you investing in and pasting on a thousand fancy greebling doodads. *sweet* *y* PS. I can't get used to this forum's smiley-codes ;) (<--- Pun definitely intended)

Warning, Unidentified Flying Object approaching...
Thanks for your nice replies (Lang leve de lage landen!) ! :'-) I'll be posting some space MOCs pretty soon, but at the moment I'm kind of busy with exams and I can't get my digital camera to work properly, gragh... |-/ Besides, I'm waiting for several shipments containing (among other stuff) the dozens of hoses/panels/windscreens/hinges which are required for the homemade theme I'm working on... Now all I need is some kind of corny mysterious background tune to keep you in suspense if you're interested... :-P All Space fans around can expect a lot of black and trans-red, so... Start drooling. And yes, that's an order! :-P Heheheh.

What are you listening to?
Nobody listens to aggrotech/EBM here? :'-( Ah heck :-P Forgotten Tears - Hocico Now for something more mainstream... Wish - Nine Inch Nails Rock on, heh *sweet*

Warning, Unidentified Flying Object approaching...
Hey people! :-) I'm Francis and I'm from the Netherlands (you know... That funny little country below sea level which is bound to get flooded sooner or later ;-) (I just realized lego doesn't float... Crap... :-P )). Been a lego fan from my childhood etc. etc. *insert general happyness here* but I've been in hibernation for a few years until I recently discovered BrickShelf and BrickLink. Now... Exactly $1287 and 1 cent later I think my collection is finally up to MOC standards, while my savings account is... Ehrm... Begging for mercy :-P My favourite themes are Space, Castle and Western, but space is the biggest theme of all by far, BrickLink allowed me to get me a nice collection of space sets. I've completed my Blacktron II collection, including some doubles, but minus the unusual sets (value packs for example). I am almost done with Spyrius (Need the base) and am well on my way with M-Tron, UFO, Space police II and some others. By the way, if anybody noticed the black tabbed and untabbed hoses started disappearing off BrickLink... Then that's me, sorry :-$
