  1. I ran that past a store manager today; she: - smiled knowingly, - said she'd seen previews of next years stuff, - didn't deny it, - and said that there's some REALLY cool stuff coming, so I wouldn't doubt that 1974 is totally correct. Thanks! Joe
  2. Yeah, sorry I didn't specify, but I bought the train set directly from Amazon US - absolutely no third party or artificial sweeteners involved. It really was shocking as I also have been buying from them for years and years, and have always found their packaging adequate. There's another buying location that I had forgotten about in my original post; the 98th Lego shop here in St. Louis, Missouri. I was there today, great stuff. Joe
  3. Amazon US recently shipped my 7938 Yellow Cargo Train in a plastic bag, can you believe it? It arrived completely smashed inside the torn bag. They sent me another one after I called to complain, but it arrived in a similar bag, and smashed as well. They're normally pretty good about their packaging, so I was shocked and disheartened. Anyone else have a similar experience with them? Next time I buy a train it'll be at Toys R Us utilizing price matching. Joe

Hey, it's great! I especially like the hobo and mail car. Joe
  7. Nice build of an interesting historical topic. Thanks for sharing. Joe
  8. The new layout looks much better than the original IMO. It's much less cluttered. The blue track 'monorail' looks better off to side as well. Joe
  9. Hey, it's great! I love the whole thing, thanks for sharing. Joe
  10. Hey, looks great! It's kinda like a cross between Classic Town and Modulars. Joe

  14. Hey, that IS huge! I like it a lot, thanks for sharing. Joe
  15. Hi and welcome to Eurobricks. It's a great site. I'm also in Beijing, but after living here for a long time am set to depart back to my hometown in the U.S. in a few days. Joe
  16. Hi, the 'flagship' store (and others) that you're referring to aren't owned by Lego to the best of my knowledge. The company that owns them is called Kidsland. I don't know much about them, but I believe that the minority partner is Toys R Us. The majority partner COULD be Lego (or maybe they're another minority partner), but is probably a local Chinese company. Anyway, I'm thinking that Lego may go the very expensive route of opening their own stores here in China in the future once they get the factory up-and-running, but it's probably better for a host of reasons to primarily use Kidsland for now. Joe
  17. Hey, that looks great! Thanks for sharing. Joe
  18. Hey, thanks for the great review of this iconic set. What would a more modern equivalent to this be? All the Space 'bases' in my recent memory seem to be mobile ones. Joe
  19. Hey, thanks guys! Joe
  20. Hey, looks great! Will we see them in real bricks? Joe
  21. Hey, looks great! I really like the gradient and elevated portion. Have you tried using Blue Brick to plan your layout? I like that program a lot. Joe
  22. That Railroad Museum of PA sounds really great. A new roundhouse? I'm there. The C & O Hudson at the B & O Museum was the big attraction for me. The Alleganies there are pretty awesome too. Joe
  23. Interesting. They really produced a large range of wooden toys, didn't they? It must be very difficult to find those in decent condition nowadays. Did they put any sort of Lego mark on the toys? Which book are those photos from, the comb-bound one above? Thanks a lot! Joe
  24. That London Transport Museum looks interesting. It reminds me of a Union Pacific bus I saw once, great stuff! Joe
