Useful Pirate Pieces from other Themes?
Bellville (or scala,... whatever I don't know all those names ) also has some usefull food-items, turkey, sausages etc. There are also some flowers/butterflies/ladybugs to put on flower stems to get a little variation from the regular system-flowers+ there are vases (ok, not very piratey, but usefull for landscaping and detailing ). From the ninja-line, the fishes are also good parts to use in pirate mocs (unfortunately I don't have any fish ). And there are various castle-minifigs (also harry potter and various other themes) that would be suited to be pirates/civilians.

Oh, that guy!
All my thoughts of what german soldiers look like... shattered I thought they looked happier, like this: But about the torso, I don't like it that much in larger numbers, I prefer the regular striped pirate torsos for larger numbers (white/red, white/blue and black/red).

Original or New. Which do you prefer?
You know what I mean . The older sets capture the essence of LEGO more, more like build your own creations, use your imagination, while the newer ones seem much more limited and leave less to the imagination. Like TLG is making model-kits, instead of a toy with which you can build your own creations (with alternate models on the boxes, and idea books, which we both don't get (much?) anymore).

Original or New. Which do you prefer?
I prefer the originals. They have a much more "lego-y" feel to them. Much more real bricks in sets and they require more creativeness and imagination. There was just much more playability and moccing capabilities per set, with 1 set you could make a lot more alternative models than you can with most of todays sets, which have more specialized pieces. The design of (most) older/original sets was also better, especially if you compare the means they had to design sets, you would expect current sets to be much better, since there are a lot more pieces available nowadays, but that is not the case.

Pre-production design
Wow, the 1st and 3rd train are amazing, why did they pick the metroliner over them? (metroliner is a good train, only I hate that the front window frames are black, it messes up the design)

Pirate Battle & Imperial Guard Battle Packs
I wish they'd also make minifig packs like Nikola Bathory said. Just let them include all the different torso's and heads, so I won't have to buy the sets (or overpriced BL minifigs, I really hope they drop to a more realistic price when they are released worldwide, now it's just a rip-off)

The ULTIMATE Bricklink thread
But your post has pictures, and pictures > no pictures . At least Specever got enough info I hope, I'm looking forward to the result (only I prefer normal brown bricks to log-bricks in a ship-moc).

The ULTIMATE Bricklink thread
this or this for a mast base and this, this or this for the middle and top sections. this and this for attaching sails to the mast and this as a crows nest+ you need some rigging ladders. You might also want some lattice windows and sails (but the sails you could make out of paper/cloth yourself).

Is there line to be drawn when making MOCs?
It is just up to the builder. Many people create military vehicles and minifigs, make battlescenes with pirates and knights, even LEGO creates this, along with the weapons. +what are all the emergency vehicles released by LEGO for otherwise? LEGO just lets amagination do the work, at least I live in a free country where you can express yourself, so I think anything is fine, as long as certain age-groups who might be too young to see a certain moc are "protected". But Eurobricks is officially an adult site anyways.

Coolest Lego Box/s
I like the legoland boxes, also most classic-pirate boxes, especially 1788 - treasure chest, but that is mainly for the special box shape (unfortunatly I don't have the box from mine anymore ). Most or all legoland boxes actually showed what the set was like, unlike most modern boxes with all kinds of photoshop usage.

Everything a one Captain needs.
This was actually made by a eurobricks member for the "it's a pirate life" contest I think.

Bley or Gray?
The colour-change happened when I was in my darkage, but afterwards when I found out they changed the colours, I was shocked. I passed up on a lot of sets I would have bought otherwise (and still do now, especially when there is a fair amount of bley or frown in a set). The colour change basically let me stop with castle building, since I dont want to build one in bley (or black). I then changed to pirates since it didn't require as much grey (I don't have huge quantities of grey), brown for ships, even though I don't have much brown, is not such a problem, since the hulls are allready made in brown. I do like some "new" colours like darkred, lime, darktan etc., but those go together well with older colours and they didn't replace any colours. But even to this day, I think I don't even purchase half the sets that I would have if nothing had changed.

What causes yellowing?
They mainly get yellowed because of (sun)light and also smoking. Most colours get yellowed I think, only it is most noticable in white, light grey and transparent colours, but if you look closely at darkgray, red etc. you see a difference between new bricks and bricks that have been around a while. I don't think the age of the bricks has much to do with it (only older bricks are more likely to be yellowed, since they've been around longer and have been more likely to have been left out in the sun). The only (good) cure to get them in better shape is to use bleach or something similar, as was already mentioned, but as far as I know, if not done correctly it can also hurt your bricks+ it is not guaranteed to work.

Having fun with the new British minifigures
Well, the armada isn't "clearly Spanish", the morion was very common among European soldiers. All 3 imperial factions could be a number of European nationalities, only the imperial soldiers seem to be french because of the fleur de lis on their flag.

Comparing shots of the BSB SES BB
I mentioned it . It is a good ship (not as good as BSB or SES, but still a lot better than BB). I agree there should be a pictorial review about it (I'm a bit lazy+ my photographing "skills" kinda suck, so I would do that set justice). But there is a "box-art" topic about it or something.

Comparing shots of the BSB SES BB
Nice comparisson . I only wish there is someone with al 4 big ships (2or 3 midsections; BSB, SES, BB, and RBR). I've been meaning to build my BSB, SES and RBR side by side, but I'm just too lazy . From the "4 big ones", I think the best is BSB, followed by SES, RBR and last place goes to BB. This is not nostalgia, I never got BSB, SES or RBR as a kid, neither do I remember drooling over them as a kid or anything (even though I did like them), I just got them half a year ago or something (didn't came out of my dark-age when BSB and RBR runner where re-released). I don't have the BB, neither do I want it, but judging from the pics it is the worst pirate ship that was made (together with crossboneclipper). I think BB would appeal most to kids, definately today, so it was a good move, but that is the same reason older people don't like it, it is too "kiddie". More so than RBR, wich also hase some "kiddieness" to it (but the skulls/swords on the sails are much better that the new hidious ones), but it is also a badass battleworn pirateship.

Buy 2009 LEGO Pirates from S@H or Toys R Us
The GBP has dropped a lot in value, it is like 1pound=1euro nowadays, I think that has something to do with it. So BB is 30 €'s cheaper, fort 15 €'s cheaper in the UK. It is even cheaper than in the US, BB is about 75€'s over there, so still 5€ cheaper than in most of Europe, but UK is the cheapest.

Preferred new historical theme
I voted Incas/Mayas/Aztecs and conquerors. But Stone age, Greeks, Romans and Egypt would be great as well.
-
Your dream Lego theme
A Futurama theme would be awesome.

Now that there are new Pirates sets...
I'm not saying Mutt took over, but if BB would replace RB, it would be the same as if Mutt took Indiana Jones's place.
-
Now that there are new Pirates sets...
Redbeard = LEGO Pirates. If Ironhook didn't even replace him as the figurehead of LEGO Pirates, then no way in hell that Brickbeard will. Even if TLG decided to change the "face" of pirates, Redbeard cannot be replaced. It would be like Mutt taking over the role as Indiana Jones, it just shouldn't happen, it would ruin everything.

Buy ships for your MIGHTY fleet
I think it's the same as the rating of trading/gaming cards (like baseball cards or MtG). They rate it, then seal it so it stays that way, with a certificate and all. It isn't that cheap though to get them rated, but it does guarantee that it is in a certain condition.

Cleaning and straightening out your sails
Yeah, I got them ironed. I layed down the sails on the ironing board, covered them with a dish-towel and ironed over the towel. Worked pretty good, they even got a little cleaner (no guarantees though). Only if your sails are really creased, some creases may still show (maybe ironing them a couple of times would work).

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6285 Black Seas Barracuda
Well, you can get one for less than the 80 euro's brickbeards bounty costs. So it is a much better deal. Even if it would me more expensive, BSB is mostly a better deal, unless maybe it would cost twice as much. This is such a great ship, but you should be happy with 2 RBR's and 2 Armada Flagships, they're both very nice as well (RBR is actually my 3rd favourite ship (shared place with IF), after BSB and SES) and they're both better than the (almost hidious) BB.
