  1. In the discription of the video it says: "Here is a video I made using clips from the Lego Chess game." So I'm asuming it did come from a game
  2. 97% Bricklink (just loose parts and minifigs) and websites like ebay (for 2nd hand sets). about 3% Lego, mainly due to the absolutely ridiculous price differences between Europe and the U.S. (even in 2002, when the $ really was still worth more than the €, these conversion rates would have been way off). I'm only planning on getting 7622 new this year, nothing else.

Nice army you've got there . I really enjoy seeing great armies like this. I'm also building an army, but it isn't going that fast. I have only 19 Imperial Guards, 25 Imperial Soldiers, +11 red/white and 10 blue/white striped "pirates" to serve the low-ranks (so only 65 total, with 21 of them not even being real imperials ).

For a harbour, 6277 - Imperial Trading Post would be a very nice start (+it can serve as a fortress/defensive structure if you add some more cannons, battlements and guards), allthought it is one of the most expensive pirate sets. For a pirate ship, if you don't have a big budget, go for 6268 - Renegade Runner, it's a cheap and nice little ship, but if you want something bigger, the 6289/6290 - Red Beard Runner can still be found fairly cheap for its size I think. If you have a good budget you should definately go for 6285 - BSB or 6286 - SES (6285 is a fair amount cheaper, but still roughly the same size, and even better looking according to most people).

What do you mean by "pirate things"? Loose parts or sets (or even both)? What type of sets do you like (ships, fortresses etc.)? or what do you want to build (with loose parts, a ship, a jungle, etc.)? Budget? And getting a 6286 - SES wouldn't be a waste, it is one of the best pirate sets ever (next to 6285 - BSB)
  6. I really hoped they had finally gotten a better (but still way off) currency converter, I seriously don't believe this was a "mistake". With stuff like this (no or ,in worse cases, even negative currency conversion (as in: a set for more €'s than $'s, even though the $ is worth 1/3 less), and sudden price increase of 100€ (33% in this case) it's no wonder if sales in Europe suck when it comes to Lego. 300€ to 400$ was already unfair (but a hell of a lot better than other sets), but raising it to 400€ is just plain ridiculous.
  7. Yes, I've sent one in 4 days ago (althought I couldn't fit everything in the discriptions, like a grain silo or oldschool windmill, there's almost too much stuff on farms )
  8. and maid, witch and obi-wan hair. +Why does someone want to make a fan made custom (asuming you mean decals, and not just different head/torso arrangements) minifig of a minifig that has been around for ages like the guy with surf torso. It just wouldn't make sense, so I am about 99,9999% convinced that these minifigs are 100% real and actually made and printed by lego (the parts, not arrangements). But if this would really mean a new pirate theme is comming has yet to be seen. Maybe they're prototypes or they are made for another theme, like town, just like the 1592 - town square castle scene had castle minifigs not found in the castle theme.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Bluebard means why lego doesn't do these kind of minifig "sets" from themes like town, castle etc. Kinda crazy of hasbro to call these "action figures" by the way.

Bought the sails from 6274 (imperial flagship) today . Now to wait untill they ship.
  11. well, the other minifigs also include the peasant woman and witch from the upcomming advent calendar, and that hairpiece looks like obi-wans' to me.
  12. Basically it's a mixture of the things you mentioned. But mostly it is for the minifigs (especially if I have the set already)+ sometimes when there's really nice pieces in the set, like lattice windows, I would buy it partly for that as well. The other parts are mostly a nice and usefull extra. I don't often buy a set just for its design, since I mostly do not intend to keep them that way, but occasionaly I build a set (with a nice design, like BSB) for fun and inspiration.
  13. I'm glad they're yellow ,I'd hate it if they where fleshies. I'm also unsure about these, because if they are real, I don't know of these would fit in with the older pirates very well.
  14. Is this going to be a licensed theme (if it is a real new pirates theme)? ,they look like fleshies to me, or at least the 2nd one, but maybe it's just the photo. It is possible that these are just customs, but I think the new star wars minifigs also look like customs, and they are official.

That's a tough situation you got there. The only thing I can think of right now is explaining to her that, even if you have "outgrown lego", it still retains (and sometimes even increases in) value, so the money isn't lost, since you can sell it if you don't like it anymore.
  16. I also emailed the file with my suggestion: a farm theme. (yeah I know I've got until the 21st , but I'm going on holiday soon and I might forget)
  17. Fluyt replied to BlueBard's post in a topic in Pirate MOCs
I might not be bluebard, but still : they're from the divers theme (and yes they where used as seaweed )
  18. You should really check out prices outside the US, you'll get a serious heart-attack if you see the prices (if you already think US prices are high). No set in the US will ever be "the most ridiculously overpriced set in Lego history" seeing as sets in the US are always one of the cheapest in the world (sometimes they're even more than twice as cheap!). 120 us$ should be the normal price for this set (comparing to other countries), and with Lego's faulty exchange rates it will probably be only 60-90 us$ (more likely on the low end of that) so there is absolutely nothing to complain about for the US, even if it was 100-110 us$.
  19. Hmm... now that I think of it, a Monkey Islandtm theme would be awesome! (althought it does seem pretty unlikely that lego would create such a theme ) Things like the Scummtm Bar, Stan's previously owned vessels, Voodoo shop/shack, Governors mansion etc. lots of possibilities.

Some could have been shipped/ordered later, maybe they don't have that much shelf space, or the others are just sold out at the moment .

Welcome to Eurobricks That looks like it's going to be a mighty fine vessel. I really like the shape so far (looking a bit like a super-sized brick-built version of the original prefab lego hull).
  22. Don't you mean the circus train from Last Crusade? (there was a dos videogame from last crusade as well as fate of atlantis, so it might be confusing) I'd really love to see that set (as well as the submarine/cargoship, hadn't even thought of that yet ) it would be so great. Snake-wagon, a rhino-wagon (new mold for rhino), lion-wagon (new mold for lion) "magic"-wagon, the wagon with crates, Locomotive with tender and finally a water tower. +of course young indy.
  23. Especially that caveman looks great, I hadn't tought of using those oversized clubs for well... anything, but this works surprisingly well.
  24. Han Solo (the yellow version from desert skiff), because it has a very usefull torso for me (and it is 1 of only 1,5 sw minifigs I own , the other being the torso from obi-wan in jedi defense I ). Another would be slave leia, the other han solo with holster or just the regular scout-, snow or stormtrooper (unfortunately I own neither of them). But then again, I have limited knowledge of the sw lego world .
  25. There's lots of minifigs I desire, but mostly I would want the forestwoman, the princess from 6081 - King's mountain fortress, female islander (even thought I probably won't get all of them because of the very high price on some of them, especially for the forestwoman). And allthought I have these: I wouldn't mind a couple of extra blue or red admirals, "anchor chest tattoo" pirate, the "merchant" from 6277 or 6286 and classic castle minifigs (and minifigs from the black falcon/lion knights era).
