  1. - Good battlepacks (not like the one we get now, it is a nice pack, but not so much "battlepack", since you wouldn't want 10 brickbeards in your army for example) - Also, this counts for every theme, not just pirates: good quality pieces for the "specials" (like battlepacks and tic-tac-toe), not the crappy quality we get now, I wouldn't mind paying slightly more, but I will not pay anything for inferior quality parts, which is the case now with these items.
  2. I think they are about equal. They both have some good and bad points, like colourscheme-wise, I think RR is more "realistic", as in: more earth-like tones, more what you would expect, but I like the appeal of the lime/orange better. And the rock monsters of the power miners are hideous as well (maybe even worse than the RR ones).
  3. The only thing that makes it slightly less worse is that it was "just" a replica, and that we have the wonderfull tribute that is CGH's (/CBH's) amazing ship. But still, a sad moment. Can't wait to see more of the lego-version though. There was a fart lighting contest onboard.
  4. You forgot to photoshop a body for the bodyless head in the back , otherwise nice photoshopped army, I mean, nice army . This makes up for the imperials always getting the small ship. Unfortunately my bluecoat army only counts 28 or something (without counting the about 12 "pirates" with blue striped shirt as general crew).
  5. I really wanted this set, but now... I think I'll pass (which is unfortunate since it did have some nice figs and heads). Hopefully the pirates battlepack and the advent calendar will contain proper LEGO pieces.
  6. I really like this set, good part selection, good minifigs, lots of fond memories. For a set this size it has a decent amount of funtions, especially the erupting volcano, the only downside is the "raft", which doesn't look that great. 4/5 from me.
  7. I don't really have any trouble with the chair-piece, they work just fine, not too loose or anything. Mystery solved , I always wondered why there were so many accidents in my LEGO-town (and why the ambulances never seemed to get to the site of the accident).
  8. This doesn't look like a set at all, more like an old moc. I think this was made for an idea book or something similar, but was scrapped when a lot of pieces and minifigs didn't make the cut (some of them look very nice, but it is hard to judge from these pictures, they aren't very clear).

Not always ;) (here, and even earlier: here)
  10. -A small ship like in 6277 -Civillians/merchants -Imperial Armada -Islanders/Inca's/Aztecs/Mayans/whatever, at least a native tribe in a jungle setting (with traps, temples, tombs etc.) -A new (smaller) type of cannon -New accesoires (like maybe a new sword or gun, a globe, new map print, new animal)

1989 wins, obviously. The entire "pirates I" (1989-1997) is better than the current ones, I don't really like the new sets at all, except the "fort", but I must admit, the new minifigs > the old minifigs (and some accesories like the telescope should have been made way earlier, only unfortunately, the new line doesn't have compasses).
  12. The "Battle Pack" is ok, but more of a minifig pack (like with the original pirates) than a battle-pack, who needs 10 BB's or 10 governors anyways. The stripy-pirate is acceptable, if you have the parts to switch legs/hats/heads at least. If I can find them, I'll probably buy two of the tic-tac-toe set (if they will be available in regular stores in Europe) and none of the battle pack (which is kind of redundant with the tic-tac-toe set). +I'll get a pirate advent calender, so I'll have allmost all pirate minifigs, I don't like the sets, so this is a much better way.
  13. This looks great, an easy way to get allmost all of the different minifigs, or at least the different torsos (only no admirals daughter and no mermaid (allthough the latter is in the advent calendar). Will this also be available in regular stores in Europe?

I'm glad about that, otherwise it wouldn't be an Indiana Jones movie. Instead of "Indiana Jones and ..." it would be "Mutt and ..." or something. I hope they'll finally make "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" into a movie.
  15. What he said , some sets where even double the price (or even more), there's no way that can be justified.
  16. If TLG does that, it would mean instant dark-age for me. It doesn't belong in LEGO.
  17. These are some very nice decals, maybe a bit too "detailed" for my taste (in comparisson to the original islanders with no pupils), but very nice nonetheless. I think some of these could even be used as football fans (or hooligans), with club colours.

It looks like he/she used this on the headlight of the bicycle, with a 4l bar/lightsaber blade attached to it to attach it to the box on the front (with probably some clips on the bottom). I'm not sure about the wheels, I don't own any (or the bike).

Very good rendition of the original, must have been quite a challenge. But the mandarins are actually tangelo's as far as I know . I'm looking forward to the minifig scale version. Also any chance we might see a thousand sunny one day?
  20. Nice raygun and paintballgun, can't wait to see them in action in a moc.
  21. Then it is no longer BB, but a moc-ship

A jade idol would be very nice, accompanying a native faction (aztecs/incas/mayans or something like that).

They are just incredible, especially the harrier. Great detail and very realistic. I don't think I've seen planes made from lego that were this awesome.

This looks like such an awesome set, it's high on my wanted list. One of the few I still really want, I do have the sails though (+an extra mainsail and triangular sail). Excellent minifig selection for this set to be as a standalone set.

This is a very nice set, I also aquired this in the Captain's Cabin Contest . With relatively few parts, it still mounts up to a substantial and solid looking set. It includes some nice special parts, like the "zebra-hide" round tile and a good source of canoes. The only improvement would be that Kahuka could be replaced with a normal islander, that would make it way better to buy multiples of it. He is in just about every islander set (or otherwise you could make one, like with the forbidden cove set, the only set he wasn't in was crocodile cage I think). +maybe the canoes would be better if printed, I have 4 now, and all of them have peeling stickers to some degree (any well working fixes?).
