[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHouston we have a problem. Another review of deformed 8 tooth gear appeared. This is from a certified LEGO Store in Romania. Check after minute 8:30. I didn't want to believe the conspiracy theories but if it fails so quickly it's a no-go.

42113 Osprey, Mods and improvements
R0Sch replied to efferman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think it's possible to switch the top z20-z12 gears by replacing the black connector piece 87408 with a 32184. The tan bevel gear can be fixed by bushes axially.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes, cause it's not available in Studio yet. The two black 4L axles are connected by the new clutch elements.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes, the ratio for the blade rotation is exactly 1:1. 12/20 * 8/8 * 16/16 * 8/8 * 20/12 * 12/12 * 12/12 * 8/8 And it's true the lowest z8 gear will get the highest torque so it will fail first if there is any resistance in the system, which can happen very easily since you can run all 4 functions simultaneously. But, the tilting function has the heavy duty clutch elements (which were probably necessary due to the heavy weight of the engines and the inertia) and the linear actuators have the internal slip clutch if they reach the end-stops. The only function connected directly to the motor is the fast spinning rotor. It's not a design flaw but more a lack of a safety feature in case the blades hit something.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI just saw this new review that shows exactly this phenomenon you describe. Doesn't sound good at all and will most likely lead to the worn z8 gear if you run it some time. I hope @Sariel can give his expertise on this and test it a bit when he'll review his copy.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOk. Thanks for the info. Still, there should have been a clutch gear at the first stage motor reduction. Sadly there is no space in the current setup to replace the z12+z20 gear with a z8+z24 clutch gear.

[REVIEW] 42113 - Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@Ngoc Nguyen How much did you "play" with the functions and can you see any wear on the middle 8T gear? There are speculations on the reddit forum about a possible design flaw with this set and it being the real reason behind the cancellation which would make more sense to me. If there is no clutch gear on the main drivetrain and gears get damaged from normal use it would be a greater problem for a company that puts so much emphasis on "only the best is good enough". I also saw in another german review that the rotors cannot spin while the engines are horizontal due to insufficient ground clearance, which is another issue if you "forget" to turn off the spinning rotors and the blades start crashing in the table.

Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey 42113 Petition
R0Sch replied to damian_kane_iv's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNot trying to defend the Peace Society here (as I also wanted the set), but they themselves were very surprised of the decision TLG made and did not want 42113 to be cancelled after the set was already announced, produced and shipped. According to their statement they tried repeatedly to warn LEGO from beginning of this year since the Nürnberg Toy Fair without any reply. The only request they had now was to stop collaboration with warfare manufacturers IN FUTURE, as they felt it was the wrong direction in which LEGO was heading with this first time licensed modern military aircraft. It is naiv to think that one group tipped the scales so quickly so you should be angry at TLG cause they thought they could fool the public into thinking a few stickers on the Osprey V22 would make it a rescue plane and nobody would notice. And now instead of staying true to their word, select retailers will still be able to sell limited amounts and make the scalpers happy and us fans even more disappointed.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingFirst 99/418 steps completed. The alignment of the landing gear and ramp were a pain in the a**, but it's a clever mechanism.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingDid you already model the new clutch elements (6257336 and 6257337) from the Liebherr/4x4 in Studio? It's also missing from the parts library.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThe parts from the Sian are available on Bricks and Pieces so they could be bought instead of the whole set... just a thought.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThen you need to buy the Sian ;). The new battery box can be replaced with the Control+ version.

42113 Reconstruction Guide
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI will try to finish by Friday but not all parts are available in Studio yet (triangular panel, rotor blades, etc) since they were released first time with the Lamborghini Sian. @Ngoc Nguyen I need to get home first. Still at work :)

42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI am sure many sets will "fall off the trucks" and find their way into the hands of scalpers and cheaters. The point is not to fall into temptation and buy them. It's just a toy set after all. I'm positive it will come out as a re-issue without a license cause it's a great Technic set.

42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHow about instead of trolling you share the scanned instructions with the community, as promised. No need for the cover or Osprey reference, only the building steps are fine. I will gladly build it in Studio.

Lego 10277 - Crocodile Locomotive
Thanks for your suggestions that the middle part is also 7 wide. Wasn't easy to modify it.

Lego 10277 - Crocodile Locomotive
Thanks, but Studio does all the work, I just click on a button ;) I really liked the challenge and it took me only 10 hours. Too bad the new PU hubs can only connect either 2 motors or 1 motor + 1 light. Really annoyed me on the passenger train as well.

Lego 10277 - Crocodile Locomotive
Ok, so I modeled as much as I can from the leaked image. What I cannot know is how the interior looks like but I guess the 3 studs wide Motor (shown here a WeDo 2.0 Motor for reference) can be placed inside the front and/or back and the BT-hub will have enough place inside the middle section since it's exactly 6 studs wide. Or, what would be really crazy a new type of BT-hub including twin power for big train wheels with an axle distance of 11 studs. I really wonder how this train will be able to take the tight R40 curves with the front/back wheel pairs at 9 stud distance. All trains so far had a consistent 7stud distance between powered axles. I guess with the bigger wheels it's possible. Fun trivia: I am pretty sure both torsos from the 2 included minifigures will be Alan Grant's medium blue shirt from JP.

Lego 10277 - Crocodile Locomotive
I have started to reverse engineer the new 10277 set based on the blurry and small images alone and came up with this. What is already clear that the axles are in front/back section 9 stud apart and the middle section 11 studs apart so a new design of Powered Up train motor will come out to motorize the set. I read it will have the nr. 88013 and will be combined with 88009 hub.

42107 - Ducati Panigale V4R
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOff-topic: This bike is an engineering wonder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k1fi0jJX0s On-topic: I hate rubber bands in LEGO sets since they don't last long on shelves (stretch out, get brittle and break). Whenever I get access to I remove them to not be under stress when displaying sets. And seeing this model one band is twice as stretched out as the other. TLG used to include extra rubber bands in older sets but now they don't and I can't understand what the big deal would be besides the few cents on-cost.

42107 - Ducati Panigale V4R
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI like the new Ducati it's a must buy for me. But I would have preferred an air-spring shock absorber like the 32181c04. It would have been more expensive to produce but certainly a better and more realistic part for all future Technic sets and MOCs. I guess we will also never again see a revamp of the adjustable 48912c01 shock absorber.

[PRESS RELEASE] 42109 - Top Gear Rally Car
Wonder if that new diff assembly is similar to efferman's 3D printed designs, cause then it would make sense why TLG took down ALL compatible 3D custom parts from thingiverse, shapeways etc this year...so they can make their own parts without people saying it was copied.

Review: Creator Expert 10269 Harley-Davidson
I wanted to see how the new HD Fat Boy would look with chrome silver and flat silver parts instead of bley before ordering from bricklink. So I spent the last 3 days building it up in Stud.io using only @Sariel speed build video and part list, stopping frame-by-frame to get a good look at the parts. I don't think full chrome would hurt this LEGO model even though the real motorcycle has some satin chrome finish. Here is a short video I made: and some gifs: At this time the rims, fat back tire and 28 tooth gear are not available in Stud.io. But I kind of like the spoke design wheels better for a chopper and the designer also used black ones in one of his prototypes. Sorry about the floating renders, it's due to rotated wheels.
