Hi all, I recently purchased some what was listed as genuine LEGO string (cord thin, Bricklink x77ac*). However, the string I received seems to be very different in texture and color than the other identical string types I already had from sealed sets (both older and recent sets). Please see the attached image (click for larger version); the top string is one I had from set 75259 (released 2019), the bottom is the string I recently received. The material is noticeably stiffer, has a richer black color, and does not fray at all (something I have always observed with strings of this type). The string I received was sold as new, yet did not arrive in the typical cardboard packaging but simply wound up along a small, white piece of tape. In short, I am not quite sure I received original LEGO string. Could anyone confirm whether the bottom string shown is a perhaps modern variant, or do all modern strings still look like the top example? Many thanks for any help!

Thanks Mandalorianknight, I hope everything will fit together properly in the end. The legs are all angled so hopefully the springs will be able to support the weight without compressing too much. Here's an update regarding the (probably) most complicated part of the build, the cockpit. Lost of tricky angles and connections but I think it turned out pretty nice. I will probably use some stickers to create the dark red frame on the windscreen pieces. Now to create the cockpit interior and somehow fitting two pilots in there...

The Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport (UT-AT) was a different type of Republic "walker" in that it made use of several repulsorlifts to move around. It was designed for terrain unsuitable for the stampeding legged vehicles such as the AT-TE. "Tanks" such as this one always intrigue me and I recently started to design my own model after recently seeing Mangetsu's model again. His is the only minifig scale version I know of and I based my leg concept on his design. The vehicle made a brief appearance in Episode III and there's limited material available about it - three pictures only. Fortunately, one of these is a front/side/top/bottom view which is essential to accurately model anything. I'm also using this plastic model as a reference, which provides some other angles not shown in the official pictures. The limited reference material is a (nice!) challenge but also allows for some freedom in the design. I'm building the model in 1:35, which allows for a proper interior to be included as well; the final length will be around 68 cm once built in real bricks. Here's a first WIP picture. The parts you see laying around on the bottom are supposed to be included in the model, but LDD very often does not allow technic pin hole-system stud connections (as they are in theory "illegal", the height of a pin hole in a technic brick is a fraction of a mm higher than the side stud on system bricks, and this small difference often results in LDD seeing the connection as impossible)

That explains! They're not shown in the instructions, but I guess they're not essential at all. I guess I will leave them as they are, not really looking forward to dismantling the entire thing just to cover up those two pins. Thanks for your reply!

I'm currently building this beast and loving everything about it. Big thanks to you both for creating such a unique and detailed model as well as excellent and clear instructions. I've just attached the bottom panels, which was quite hard but I eventually succeeded. However, I then noticed these two pins located between the reactor bulge and the rear stand. Did I forget to attach a part here? I checked the instructions and at the end of book 1 they were still uncovered. The only times where the instructions show the bottom of the ship they are not visible (blocked from view by either the stand (book 2) or bottom panels (book 3). Also, maybe someone found it already but there is a very minor mistake in book 3, page 215: the 27263 Tile, Modified 2 x 2 Corner with Cut Corner - Facet should face the other way (adjacent to the corner tile placed in the same step). This was done correctly for the first bottom panel.

Not sure if this also goes here, but I just put some lights in my Falcon and I would like to share the result. There are some excellent engine mods in this thread (which probably look even better with some LEDs incorporated!) but I really preferred to keep my model original. So I got a light wire with a light blue color and put it though the hoses. Only changes needed were to replace the blue technic axle pins with regular pins so I could fit the wire through! The battery box could be easily stored in the interior. See the result:

Hi! The AT-ST has always been a personal favorite of mine due to it's intriguing design. It's an extremely complicated model to design in LEGO, the boxy head has many very shallow angles and the thin legs need to be carefully designed to support the walker too. I've never been satisfied with any of the official LEGO versions and attempted to design my own several times already. While I was initially happy with my previous version, the steep angles on the head and relatively bulky, short legs were not accurate enough. Thus I redesigned my model again, starting completely from scratch and utilizing completely different techniques. I've spent many many incountable hours on my new model, taking inspiration from many of the AT-ST models out there at the moment and I'm pretty proud of the end result. The model has an interior and is fully posable - I hope the real brickbuild model will be able to support its own weight! Enjoy and suggestions are of course welcome!

Maybe the sagging is also caused by the tan technic pins you're using. The black and blue versions have extra friction slots which result in a more stable/stiff connection. Especially the 1x1 round brick is now only supported by the two small circular slots on the very end of the tan pin. The tan and light grey versions without friction slots are generally only used if the pin is required to rotate freely or if they need to be disconnected frequently.

I think you're off to a great start and the basic structure is already there. Like I've said before, just start on one end of the middle section, adding details using brackets and tiles, clips, modified plates, hoses, etc. The useful thing about greebling is that there's little large-scale planning involved and you can just work section by section. I'm not quite sure what difficulties you're having with the body as to me it seems fine?

I managed to order before the site went haywire. :) It now seems to be fully functioning again and my order is showing in my account overview. Hello everyone! :) I've always loved the design of the Y-Wing with its many small details and greebles. When I first saw dmaclego's Y-Wing I loved it so much I wanted to create my own version... and so I did. As you can see, his model was a major inspiration and I used a lot of his techniques for especially the cockpit area and engine pods. Still, I had a lot of fun designing this model (first in LDD, then with real bricks) from the ground up. The details in the center of the ship all match the movie prop, down to the shape of the brown tubes. I've also added a retractable landing gear with opening hatches, but unfortunately this does mean it can't support the full weight of the model. In total there are approximately 1800 parts. The color scheme chosen is a combination between Gold Leader (Yellow and sand blue markings & astromech) and Gold 2 (brown tubes). Have a look and let me know what you think!
