LEGO Hobbit 2014
I love the use of the two boats. It looks fine, and you can pull it apart and have two boats if you need: multi-purpose!

Death Star Investment
Thanks for that great analysis BlackVagrant. I think I'll rest easy knowing I have one for myself, and I won't have to buy one to cart around in bubble wrap until I can re-sell it! I definitely agree with what everyone is saying about the Modulars and the Haunted House! They are definitely great sets!

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
I'm not sure it's been "confirmed", but the pictures do show the claw marks in the same areas where the original T-Rex was jumped on by the raptors, in the first film. Cool theory, I think, but I'm pretty sure they mention in the second film that Isla Nublar was napalmed or something (or the facilities were "disposed of")... I hope they don't just handwave that...

[MOC] Jurassic World - Riding with Raptors
Looks great! You've captured the jungle feel very well. Nice use of the rebel trooper torso as well.

MOC: Mini Hogwarts Castle and Grounds
You could possibly use Dark Tan or Dark Grey. Not sure if these specific bricks come in those colours (maybe not with Dark Tan), but the colours can be considered accurate.

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Oh, really? The nearest Toyworld to Sydney is in Wollongong or Newcastle, two hours away... And ozgameshop is out of stock too. I guess I'll just have to hope they bring out more. Thanks anyway

LEGO.com has sold out of SW Advent Calendars... does anyone know if this will be permanent? I'm hoping it will be available again by Brick Friday... Apart from that, has anyone seen the SW Advent Calendar in any shops? Everywhere seems to only have City ones (Target, Big W, Kmart, Toys 'R' Us, all in the Sydney area). And thanks for the info Nikaliptus, if they haven't updated the offers on Friday I'll definitely email them to ask.

Death Star - is it worth it?
@Jedi-Bendu The Death Star is a great set. Out of all the sets I have (the majority of which are not SW), it is undoubtedly my favourite. It is a proud display piece in my home, and everyone is always very impressed when they see it. It also has great playability, and is a fun (and long) build. There'll always be more AT-ATs and Star Destroyers. There may not be another Death Star for a long time. As for Cloud City, it is a bit of a risk, since it seems more likely that a Cloud City remake will be made before a Death Star one. Ideally, get both, but that's obviously not always possible... As for the minifigures, yes, most of them are outdated. But since you have the new versions of most of them, that doesn't matter too much, for display purposes. You could always sell the older versions online as well, make some money back. It's a great set. If it's some solace, a Cloud City set would be out for a couple of years, giving you time in between two large purchases. Death Star is more iconic, and probably more impressive (people hear you have a LEGO Death Star and go "woah!", Cloud City, maybe not so much.)

Oh, why doesn't LEGO make a set of this!? Looks great!

Which set should I buy?
1) I have two Black Gates, and they do look good together. I haven't had the chance to mod them so that it's all one entrance, instead of two, but I've seen it done. 2) I have the Cantina, it's good for the unique minifigs (Greedo, Bith, new Ben, the dewback is really nice), and it's an iconic location, but the set itself isn't that great. 3) I have both the Lake-Town sets, and they look really good together. Great minifigs, captures the look of the film, and cheaper than the others, I would recommend these! 4) Don't have this one (yet), but Smaug looks good. I'd still recommend 3) mostly though. Overall, they're all good sets for what you want, but in order, 3), 1), 4), 2), probably.

2015 LEGO Pirates Rumors and Discussion
I really like Treasure Island. The new crocodile is great, and the use of the stud-shooters for mini cannons is really cool. It's also nice that the sets connect to each other. I also like how they have a sawfish instead of the traditional shark in the Brick Bounty set. The silhouettes in the background, as others have pointed out, remind me of 2009's pirate wave, where the silhouette of 10210 Imperial Flagship was in the background of Brickbeard's Bounty... I'll probably get Treasure Island, Soldier's Fort and Soldier's Outpost.

Death Star Investment
Apologies if this sort of question goes in a pre-existing topic. Considering rumours that the set 10188 Death Star will be retired soon (it has been 7 years after all), I've been contemplating purchasing one (I already own one for myself) for investment. The secondary market prices for 10179 UCS Millennium Falcon are really expensive, up to 5x the original price (AUD), I find, and given the similar scale and the popularity of 10188, I can imagine it will be quite valuable once LEGO stops selling it. What do people think? Is the Death Star worth investing in? Saving it for a couple of years, however long it takes, and then selling it for a higher price? Are others doing this too? Obviously it's a lot of money to spend in one go, so I wanted to see what the consensus is. Also, given rumours that a remake of the UCS Falcon will be coming out soon (not sure how realistic these are, but for the sake of discussion), how do people imagine this will affect the secondary market price of the current UCS Falcon? Thanks, Albus

Stolen figs
It would almost be better not to have minifigs in the books, but to instead give them away as polybags with purchases of the books. But then you could get employees stealing the polybags, or you might end up with fewer minifigs compared to the number of books... there's not really a perfect solution, unfortunately, aside from buying online. It's a real shame this happens. I can't believe there are LEGO fans out there who are so desperate for these minifigs that they can't buy the book. Don't they realise there are kids out there who are potentially missing out on these figures? Pretty shameful and disgusting.

REVIEW: The Battle of the Five Armies
I'm tempted to get a second of these on special. Make a bigger Dale/ruins structure, a second ballista (even if it's a bit large), and either use the figures for parts or as small gifts to friends who are Tolkien fans. Thanks for the review

GAME OF THRONES King's Landing
That's great! It's a shame they don't really make sand red bricks anymore, that would be the perfect colour for KL. But you've done a great job. I like the use of the Uruk helmet for the Lannister soldiers, it looks appropriate. The interior is really cool, and I like the courtyard area. I could imagine a real LEGO set of King's Landing looking similar to this. Do you have any pictures of the minifigures close-up? Some of them I'm not sure who they are.

MOC - The Sea Hawk
This is really good, very realistic, almost looks like it's not made of bricks. Awesome! I'm sure your dad would have loved it

This looks really good! I love the mythical beasts - makes me wish that the Fantasy Castle theme has continued into Elves vs ancient Greek beasts... Very cool!

LEGO LotR - general discussion
The Pirate ship is a good enough set, the problem is it seems an odd choice when other more important scenes haven't been made. As Alcarin has said, some people don't like it because it took the place of something that could have been better. When the second wave was released, I thought it looked like they were definitely doing a third wave because they'd picked some relatively smaller/less significant scenes for sets (Black Gate, Council and Pirate Ship), and it probably was the plan to do a third wave, but for whatever reason, they decided not to. If the second wave had covered all the important bases (anything Gondor, Balrog, Mordor, Fangorn), then we'd all be clamouring for a third wave which had minor stuff like corsairs, the Mouth of Sauron, etc. It's just unfortunate that we got the less significant stuff first, thus meaning we miss out on important stuff that was presumably planned for the supposed third wave. (I won't give up completely, though, until at least halfway through 2015. There's still time).
