Back Story
Purpearl Berthadhiell was the only heir to the Berthadhiell family. The Berthadhiell is one of the most influential names among the wood elves. Her father, Thannor Berthadhiell, was a visionary and philanthropist. Coupled with his deep understanding and knowledge of nature and magic, Thannor was a leader other elves held in high regard. Purpearl's mother, Gureth Berthadhiel, was a woman of strong resilience and character. Purpearl was born on a warm midsummer's night, two days before the whole wood elves' forest village was attacked by unknown invaders. No one really knew who they were or had seen how they looked like. But rumours had it that these attackers came from hell, and there were six of them. On that fateful night, Gureth was out in the forests with Purpearl, singing lullabies. As Gureth looked up into the stars she was instantly troubled, as the alignment of the stars gave an ominous sign. Gureth quickly made her way back to Thannor, but it was too late. She witnessed six hooded shadows surrounded her husband and he was brutally killed. Gureth looked at Purpearl and saw her fast asleep. She passed her new born to one of the servants and whispered a series of secret instructions. After which Gureth uttered a few words to enable her to wield forbidden magic and attacked the hooded assailants, but none of those magic worked. Gureth life wasn't spared either and she died by Thannor's side.
The following day, an old herbalist was out by the river picking herbs with his wife. The old herbalist noticed a large basket floating by the river bank. After spending much effort to retrieve the basket, the old couple opened the basket to discover a tiny elven baby, wrapped in a green dress of sorts and some artefacts. They hurried back to their wooden shack, knowing instantly what they were dealing with after news of an elven massacre spread like wildfire across Eubric. For the next decade, the old couple raised Purpearl as their own. Purpearl never knew her past, and she grew up learning about herbs and herbal manipulation. As the years ticked by, the old herbalist and his wife passed on. In the beginning, Purpearl spent her time gathering herbs from the surrounding forest areas and mountains and sold them at the Marketplace. Time passed and Purpearl witnessed generational change took place in the land of Eubric, wars, conflicts and everyone she knew grew old and died. Having been through and seen so much over the years, she decided that she had seen enough and retreated back into her shack and lived in isolation ever since, only living off a special green concoction (discovered through her experimentation) and vegetables.
One day, Purpearl was on her way back from the forests after some herb picking, and from a distance away, she noticed two knights frantically knocking on her door. Suddenly, a dark mist surrounded them and an unknown force sent them crushing into her shack. A hooded shadow followed and all Purpearl could hear were screams and an eerie silence followed after the dark mist ascended from the shack's window into the deep forests. All she could see when she reached her shack were two dead knights and a mess. Purpearl found a notice addressed to Heroica, but the contents were unreadable as it was soaked in blood. Not knowing what had transpired before her eyes, she decided that giving the knights a decent burial was the least she could do. Few days after, while clearing up the mess in the shack, Purpearl noticed a hollow crack in the wooden floor, and found a treasure chest containing a green dress, several artefacts and a note addressed to her.
Purpearl read the note, emptied the contents of the treasure chest into her sling bag, grabbed her light green bottle, donned her hood and left the shack for good.
