You know you are a fan of Lego when...
When you spend 120eu on Lego sets on amazon , but you can't find spare cash and time to buy new slippers as current ones are half eaten by your two sausage dogs.

Do you collect Lego themes other than Technic/Mindstorms?
shadowhearth replied to SheepEater's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI am technic head, but with Lotr habits! I got all technic sets i wanted and waiting for august. I LOVE lotr world so Lotr sets were no brainer! I did started getting some creater and City sets purely for messing around. I will try to do some Team model stuff myself. I wish they would just bring it back for AFOLs sake!

The BOSS Crawler. Technic challenge entry.
shadowhearth replied to rm8's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingRm8s Design was/is great. Most important, it was built and we had pictures of the real thing. So it was not just something put on paper. There were models, which got in to top 10 and were only made on designer software. I did not took those entries as serious ones, because those were not real life proved machines. As we know one of the entries had quite big design flows, which would be ironed out if the author would had built the thing. If TLG would plan to do one of these again, then i would really like them limit entries only to built ones, not designer software ones. Rm8, congratulations on your fame. Maybe it is not "Минута Славы", but it is still fame in a circles of your beloved hobby!

not enough rally :(
shadowhearth replied to piterx's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI love it. Looks fun. Though is there some sort of motor restrictions? I noticed some people using wired control. whats that all about?

Am I going through the infamous "Dark Age?"
I think it's is more of the financial side of the problem, then the dark age? I know I can't afford even 10% of stuff I want :(. Maybe you need to try different lego activities? If you are collector, then try MOCing. If you are Mocing, then try to build the sets you own. Check the websites and find some awesome moc. Built or or start collecting parts. Check some official sets and then try build them by only getting stuff from bricklink. Part of scavenger hunt is a a lot of fun in that. Then you can try by buying 1-2 small sets and try build mocs only from those sets. Something that you had to do back in the day when you were a child and your lego collection was limited. I found that this way your creativity kicks out a lot better then when you have a credit card and bricklink for any type of block. Just try different activities. If that won't help you, then go cold turkey for 2-3 weeks. That means no lego websites, no browsing lego, no lego checking while shopping for food. ;) I bet on second week you will be itching for some brick action!

Which set should I buy?
the one theme i totally HATE and you suggesting it to me! I was thinking maybe off "high speed chase" http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0094J10J8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=bargainwatch-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0094J10J8 And "Highway speeder" http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0094J2XJY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=bargainwatch-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0094J2XJY This Combo would be a start? anyone think off better combo or sets?

Which set should I buy?
I am a Lotr head too. I presume you got the Helms deep already? If you dont, then i would advice to get few extra bucks and get that first, before you get anything else. If you do own it already, then Urakai is a must to go with it. When that is sorted then Black Gate is just Plain awesome. I am not as excited for ship as much as i am excited for the Black gate. You get great minifigs and the Gate itself looks quite cool.

Which set should I buy?
Okay. Odd ball from me lads. Its my birthday this month and I am allowed by misses shadowhearth to spend little bit of money on Lego! Awesome! So I already putting away money to buy lotr Urakai army, weathertop and Gendolf arrives to finish my lotr collection . I have few euro left in budget and here is what I am looking for: I need some small or few sets. I want then purely for building and have a mini challenge for myself. Challenge as in getting back to childhood and do mocs from limited parts. So budget is about 40-50eu. Can be few sets or one. Has to be car oriented. Good piece count and I dont care about mini figs at all. Preferably from Amazon as we get free shipping in Ireland.

Sheepo's Land Rover 110 review
shadowhearth replied to allanp's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI will be honest. Sheepo should throw you a cut for this review. Drop this link in sale discription too. I liked this moc a lot, though when I heard 20eu price tag I was not impressed at all. Sure it looked like a fine machine, but 20eu is a lot of money. After this review I see that 20eu is very justified. I am sure this review will push a good view more sales. Fair play to you.

Mega Bloks
I don't own any of mega blocks stuff. I love Lego and that's enough for me not to buy megablocks . I sow area mega block arts and I really hate their design. They like to make parts, which are only used for prticiular sets. Those are unusable in mocks or for anything else. Not a fan of mini figs too. I really hate that TLG is giving away all of the video games licenses to megablocks. I love idea of World of Warcraft sets. I would buy a lot of them, even if I don't play it anymore. Though I Dont like mega blocks designs.

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
Well my vote goes for "unexpected gathering". Though OP did made up his mind already. Anyway, there is a lot of hate for goblin king. I havent built it myself yet, but that's the set that is only worth getting on sale for 60eu. Well, it is general chat, so we might continue so. I will be stabbed by everyone in here, but I really really want to get weathertop. looks cool and the wraiths looks really awesome. I am not a minifig man myself, but there is so,ethimg cool in those dark riders!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
So damn true. I finally ordered helms deep set few days ago. I wanted it for weeks, but could not commit myself. I really love the scene and building, looking forward to mod it and making it even more epic! What's the twist? If you ask me what mini figs I get with it I won't be able to name them all! Last thing I care about in set are mini figs. If the tower will have only one mini fig , I won't care. I just really love that tower!

Which set should I buy?
It depends what do you like in technic. and what is your budget. High budget: 4x4 Crawler 9398. Great base model as you get fully remote control 4x4. 2xlarge motors, servo motor and controller. If you love RC stuff then this will be a great start. Unimog 8110. some say it is one of the best technic sets out there. I would agree with them. 2000+ parts with pneumatics. Great fun set, but on a expensive side. Medium budget: Claw excavator 42006. Awesome model. Even if you are not in to contrustion/heavy machinery. Fun build, great parts, lots of potential for moding and most importat - play! F1 car 42000 It depends for me it was 89e from lego, in some regions it has quite mad price. you might hunt down 8070 cheaply. I personally loved it. Great selection of parts and a nice drive train for mocs. *cant recomend anything in low budget as i usually skip those. though 9394 does look like a nice fun set.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Wait wait wait, is there one more exclusive set in the new Lotr wave? Awesome! What would be the chances of Lotr and hobbit having one more wave after this one? It is clearly a good seller. I know some people are comparing it to SW, but I don't really think it is fair. SW had quite a lot of time to become such a franchise. Lotr only starting out now and gaining a lot of momentum!

The 42000 B Model Race Truck instructions are up at Lego's Website
shadowhearth replied to Meatman's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI might actually build it instead of F1 car. It is going to be more compact for display.
