  1. Never actualy lived in Perth as such. I'm wearing a path between Perth airport and Karratha or Paraburdoo at the moment :) Haven't seen a lot of the city (maybe half a dozen walks around the city) aside from developing a dear love for the Hippo Creek bar and grill. They really need one on the east coast
  2. Hi CJ, Welcome back into active duty as it were :) Where abouts in Aus are you from originally? I'm from Victoria, but in QLD now. I've also seen a bit of ACT, TAS and WA.... Glad to hear your little guy is taking up his own torch. My 2yr old likes his duplo for now, but with everything I guess his time will come too :)
  3. Hi everyone. I've been reading here for a while and really enjoy the forum. I'm a child of the 80s and technic has always been my thing. I have recently got back into building and am starting to get my head around studless construction. Some of the classics such as the test car, backhoe and air tech claw rig will always be my favourites. I bought the suspension parts for 8865 and the buckets for the backhoe excavator from the lego mail order service but never had the pieces to build them completely. Through the powers of peeron and bricklink recently I have been able to complete both, along with a few others that underpinned my technic building childhood. I am starting out on a few of my own creations so thanks to all for the inspiration and discussion through these pages. Cheers, Shannon.
  4. Hey, just wanted to say well done for your continued efforts Blackbird. It's a great site and a rare resource of old-school technic sets. I must admit that until reading it I had no idea 8880 was so packed with features. As a child of the 80s I have recently come back to the lego technic fold and through the help of sites like yours and bricklink I'm starting to fill in the gaps in my relatively small but expanding collection :)
  5. ok it looks like I was starting at the wrong point. You cannot place two bricks and then hinge align them. You can create a series of connections between bricks then you can use the tools when there are already connecitons between some bricks. I didnt realise you needed a peg or simlar for LDD to recognise what to hinge around. I thought thats what you were doing by clicking the axle hole. I will be back in future, just maybe with a different user name..... Thanks for your help, and thanks for providing such a cool forum :)
  6. Thanks for the replies. In terms of an lxf, thanks for the offer but it's not working with two bricks, let alone a more complex solution between parts. Those YouTube clips look pretty familiar :( Referring to the first one, I can click the first axle hole and the arrows appear the same way. When I click the second location all that happens is the first set of green arrows disappears. No red arrows etc to indicate invalid geometry. The procedure is: select tool, click first location on first part (i.e. axel hole) then click second location on second part isn't it? No key modifiers? I've tried shift, ctrl clicks etc Thanks. Ill try some when I get back to my machine, thanks. Ill try some when I get back to my machine, thanks.
  7. Hi Everyone, I am having problems with the align and hinge align tools in a newly installed copy of 4.3.5. For a hinge manipulation: I can select the tool and the mouse Icon changes, but no hinge targets show up on my pieces. I dont get the subsequent controls to move or rotate etc For a hinge align manipulation I can sleect the tool and the icon changes, I can select my first point of the alignment pair and i see the radiating arrows. I cannot select another point anywhere. It does not seem to matter what parts, what order they are dropped where I click, or which mode (extended etc) Im in. Anybody got any suggestions? Surely I've missed something really dumb because I seem to be the only one having trouble with these tools... Machine is a Lenovo W520 running Win7, Nvidia drivers 266.96 (a bit old I know. Could update but it's not the first thing I want to try cos the Lenovos are flaky), Open GL 4.1.0 Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
