  1. well, set 10256 has just been revealed by TLG; the re-release of the Taj Mahal. so now we know where those 6000 pieces are. Not sure if I'm happy about that though.
  2. To be honest, I also have Palace Cinema (I have all of them), but in total I don't like PC...
  3. completely understandable, I do hope it makes it to the review stage.
  4. Would love to have it, so supported it! I like it so much, would you consider releasing/selling the parts list and/or build instructions in case the Ideas project doesn't succeed?
  5. They already have a license for Bugatti (Speed Champions), but somehow I doubt that Lego will bring the successor to the Porsche 911 GT3 in 2017. In my mind that's a bit 'too soon'. But who knows, next week we'll know more on this subject. I personally am very curious to see if Lego has a special model coming for the 40th anniversary :-)
  6. Based on the reviews I doubted highly whether or not I would buy it. Eventually didn't need to; I received one as a gift. I started building my set yesterday evening, took me about 4 hours to build box 1. So far haven't run into any problems and gearshifting works just fine. :-)

I didn't actually buy it myself, but yesterday I had a very nice surprise; 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
  8. The Dutch S@H site is now also mentioning the 'unforseen circumstances' notification. Must say, that's a first for me. Haven't seen that before, so very curious as to what Lego is planning to do with this set in terms of rectifying the addressed problems...
  9. Our posts crossed... completely agree with your reaction to Lipko!
  10. To a certain extend I agree with what you are saying. Sure enough, Lego is about building, and Technic even deeper where it comes to complicated mechanical functions. And while I also enjoy experimenting by adding extra features on official Lego sets, I fully expect that the set you find in the box is working on every level. If a function is not there (rear wheel steering, working brakes), I don't really mind. That's a choice Lego made. But what I dó expect is that the things that are there, work! I'm no hero in designing or building sets from scratch or even making complicated additions. I'm impressed by what is showed on this forum and what is made. But I can only speak for myself and I like to buy a set, enjoy the building experience and examine the functions the model has. I don't have the technological insight to recreate or rebuild the transmission in such a way that it works flawlessly (which is possible as I've seen on this forum) and want it to be good out of the box. Simply put, that isn't the case with this set. I'm annoyed and surprised with the Lego statement, I had hoped that they would take the comments (especially from the thorough reviewers) seriously and came up with an addendum of some sort. But, what isn't here may yet still come. Until then, My wallet stays closed
  11. Jim, Thanks for an excellent review. As objective as it can be, but it doesn't make things more clear for me . At first I was wiling to pay the Dutch price. Then I read the topic (which is now closed) and thought 'I'll get it in Germany'. Now having read your review (and other reviews), I'm thinking that I'll probably wait for the price to come down to a more reasonable point. I really hoped for more Technic 'challenges' in this Ultimate model, besides the PDK...
  12. High price, low price, it will be bought and it will be popular. I've called Lego in CentrO Oberhausen today to ask whether they want to hold one for me since I can't go there until saturday, but that wasn't possible... She told me they will receive 25 Porsche sets and all of them are already reserved. Furthermore, she couldn't tell me when the next shipment of sets is expected...
  13. Maybe it's just me, but I find it hard to believe that a non or bad working transmission would pass quality checks within Lego..? I own a reasonable amount of sets and only two sets of those (10213, restructure of fueltank, not really necessary i think and 8043 for some faulting LA's) had some adjustments after the set was launched. And even these modifications are not on the same level of a not working transmission. But, we will probably all know what's what on june the 1st...
  14. I presume you're from the upper part of Holland (Groningen) then? ;-) Anyway, really looking forward to your review, I'm still thinking about whether I'm buying it instantly or waiting till august...
  15. Very curious about the extra information in the instruction manual. Look at the size of that thing! [little offtopic] It's definitely a must-have for me, but I still don't understand why the price in Holland is € 30,- more than it is in Germany. Off course, there is a tax difference (2%), but why does the set have to be 10% more expensive? It's the same with some other sets (Ghostbuster HQ is €50 more expensive), but not with all sets. A lot of sets are similar priced. Anyway, will probably buy, but only when I'm visiting Germany... [/little offtopic]

Finally shook the wallet and bought Windstorms EV3. Package arrived yesterday, just before I went for a business trip and won't be returning before Friday night... But I guess that I can wait two more days, I wanted the set since it was officially revealed...

I've ordered my Fairground Mixer last Saturday, but the order still says in process... had the same situation with the early order on the Parisian Restaurant, and eventually had to re-order that one because my order got lost in the system. Hope that this won't happen again...

As far as I can tell is that close to the turntable the arms have a wheel which rolls and the movement of that wheel is converted via an axle to the turning motion of the seats. //edit in response to legozebra that is...

Jamie Berard has done it again.... The attention to detail is again really good, lots of extra's and playability! *Writing it on my wanted list*
  20. Why should it be fake? usually these rumors tend to be true. And the set number 10244 is new, town hall is 10224!
  21. I own them all too! Started the moment Cafe Corner was available, bought every modular since as soon as they where available...
  22. I own every modular building Lego made so far and love the progress in details each building has, compared to the previous one. But if I had to rate them, the Cinema is my least favorite. Mostly due to the use of stickers, but also the overal feeling that the building isn't finished. Open windows (no 'glass' in them) on the top floor, the use of stickers, the 'poor' interior... Still, I don't regret buying it. Can't wait to see what Lego has up its sleeve to follow up on the Parisian Restaurant!

sounds a like a fun idea, but probably better to start a new topic? To keep things organized and not to clutter this topic?
