Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Cheers for the tip, that makes some good deals! Toysrus.com has 10225 R2D2 on sale for $140 and they will ship it internationally- which is a realy good deal! I'm really keen to get one but they're not accepting my credit card

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Man, thats crazy! That Speeda Demon set is usually $50 by itself.. Good find! Mine arrived today too. It had a few tears and dents, plus some kind of shipping sticker or something on it? For $500 its still a reasonable deal, but I did flick them a quick email mentioning it, as shipping stickers on 'new' sets isn't my favourite I'll let you know If I get any responce

What did you buy today?
Caved in and bought the Sopwith Camel in the weekend while it was 20% off. Brilliant set. Pefect size, good price, fun build and great display model - and fits nicely in your hand for swooshing Would happily recommend that one! Also put in a ~$300 bricklink order for some parts and baseplates

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Lego.com lists it as a RRP of $59.99NZ - they also have free shipping at the moment if you wanted to go that route

Indeed, not sure if that is in NZ, or even if it's coming to NZ.. But if not, I'd head to bricklink where some sellers have it pretty cheap. If you're not a fan of BL, both TRU and B&N will ship it to NZ for you (I've grown to hate eBay, so naturally tend to reccomend Bricklink or other sites ) Good luck!

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Hey man. How important is it? If its an insanely good deal that you just can't miss then I might be able to help you out, but Mt Pleasant is about half an hour drive from me (each way) so it would need to be a pretty good deal to be worth it Flick me a PM or something if you like. As for good deals over Labor Weekend, The only thing I've seen so far is 25% off toys at Farmers, and Toyco also has another 20% off sale (Love those guys!). Wouldn't be out of the question for Toyworld to have another 20% off too. Then who knows about the Warehouse, they'll probably just put 20% off some sets that are't selling well Certianly nice that Lego S@H is having a good Free Shipping period.. But its a shame they don't really have any good deals.. Free shipping doesn't quite do enough by itself when NZ stores do 20% off on top of free postage anyway..

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Mmm, I did see that. $50 certainly is a steal, but consering the only thing I would want from it is the 2 standard TIEs, I doubt I'll put a bid in. Good luck if you go for it! From memory it was $140 In the mean time, I've got to admit I'm slightly tempted by this at the moment. looks like a great model (Though I'm not the biggest fan of the colour scheme - as per usual with Lego's Technic sets). It's down to $136, and RRP of $170 already seems like a pretty good deal considering it retails for $120 in the states. Think I'll leave it for now, but it's something I'll be keeping an eye on in future There's too many good sets out at the moment! 10225 R2-D2 and 10226 Sopwith Camel are both great looking sets too. Good thing they'll hopefully still be around for the next couple of years.

Keep in mind, The Warehouse bumped up their pricing on this set, RRP is actually supposed to be $60 (Whereas the Warehouse is charging $67) - But still, 30% off RRP is pretty good.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Ohhh man, that's a pretty good price.. I had told myself I'd pounce if I saw it under $550, But I'm not sure how much I trust them. I tried them out with some books and they started arriving way after the already long expected delivery.. If only Toyco had them at $500 - But I suppose that's the price you pay for good service. I'll keep that in mind. I mean, at $500, waiting a couple of months might be worth it.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Ha.. I wish I picked up 2 London Escapes, 2 'the Mill''s, 2 Uruk-Hai Armies, and an Ork Forge. RRP for all those would be $629.93, and the order came out at $325.47

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Last I heard it's not arriving until September, but I may be wrong. If I were you I'd import them - mine arrived a month ago and I got them about 35% off NZ RRP

Ohh guts, Amazon.De has removed their 14euro Shipping cap and bought up their rates closer to the other Amazons.. That sucks. Ah well, good while it lasted.

Christchurch NZ Lego Show July 14-15 2012
Hey guys, thought I'd do a quick rundown of our show! We were absolutely blown away by the crowds, so it was a huge learning experience, but a huge amount of fun! Thought I'd share a couple of things from the show.. We had about 18 exhibitors displaying a great range of MOCs and layouts which approximately 8000 people came along to see! So here are some videos from the show: First, the incredible line, just to get inside (The line nearly got up to 2 hours long, but was about 70 minutes on average throughout the weekend): Photos from the event will be coming onto our website soon! Then from the much smaller fan event afterwards, here was a quick video of our speed sorting challenge (As you can see it was pretty tight between Brickthing and I (Both on the Left)): We even featured on our national news very briefly in the last few seconds of this clip We learnt heaps from the show (It was the first time our LUG has ever run such an event), and we're really looking forward to next year! Cheers, Sam

Do you buy 1 set to play with and 1 to keep sealed?
Interesting thread.. I tend to buy one of each set that I collect (depending on the set), then multiples of 2 of sets that I buy for parts. I think the most I own of any one set would have to be 7929 Battle of Naboo, When they went half price locally, I somehow ended up with 12 They have some good parts for MOCing, the Model isn't too bad (and can be easily MODed into a decent troop carrier) and the figs alone in the set make it a bargain at half price. But sets like the death star I'm not sure I could justify ever buying multiples of

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Haha, Well, initially I was really keen for the set, but after seeing it better I think I'll leave it. I seem to find myself venturing away from buying so many system scale playsets and such these days. I still need to catch up on a couple of UCSs' and such for now
