  1. The reason we decided to allow people to post old MOCs and post entries on multiple sites is that it would be impossible for us to enforce it otherwise. The judges are not going to have time to look at several hundred MOCs and then search for each one online to make sure it was never posted before the start of the contest. Since we'll be judging the winners, you can rest assured that we will make sure it is the best MOCs that make it to the final round.

I think you're looking at LEGO in too negative of a light there. Yes LEGO is a business trying to make money, but I don't see them purposely misleading fans in that way. I could be totally off though, in which case I'll be sure to yell at Kelly the next time I see him. ;)

I don't know who you are or what your source is. But all the LEGO employees I've talked to haven't said Bionicle is ending. Generally they imply the exact opposite.
  4. As you said, the store is open. The display sets are done and have been put up, it was a kind of a spur of the moment thing, due to some mis-communications. The grand opening is coming up, and we'll be looking for some volunteers at that. I'm at BrickFair right now, so I'm kind of busy, but next week I'll look into it more.
  5. Princeton's not that far away, especially since you can take the train right to Hoboken. :P Anyway, thanks everyone for your interest so far. I'll let you know when I figure out a time to do this.
  6. Hi guys, for those who don't know me (most of you probably), I'm Andrew, one of the LEGO Ambassadors (From Cycle 6 & 7). I tend to spend most of my time with the Bionicle community, but I'm reaching out here to try to find a little bit of a broader audience. So, as you may or may not know, there is going to be a LEGO Store opening at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ. I'm not sure exactly when yet, but it's opening. I find this funny, because there used to be a store nearby in the Paramus Park Mall and another about an hour west at the Rockaway Townsquare Mall. There still is one maybe a little over a half hour away at the Palisades Mall in West Nyack, NY. Yes, the New York Metro is inundated with shopping centers (and I haven't even mentioned a bunch of others). Anyway, I've been in contact with Steve Witt over at LEGO about the opening, and it looks like I get to be the main contact for organizing fan activities concerning the store since the NJ/NY area doesn't really have an active LUG (LEGO Users Group). This means I get to be in charge of building all the models that will be on display at the store and also means that six huge boxes of LEGO bricks appeared outside my home today. If anyone out there is interested in helping me build some stuff I'm thinking I'm going to try to organize a day or two on the weekend sometime for some people to get together and just build for a while. If you'd be interested in such an undertaking (maybe this could be the start of a new LUG?) let me know. You can reply here or email me at Black.Six@gmail.com. FYI, I live in Hoboken, so if you're anywhere in that area there's plenty of mass-transit ways to get there, though parking is limited.
  7. Hey all, this is Andrew, one of the 2008/2009 Lego Ambassadors and Administrator over at BZPower. Lego Community Development Manager Jan Beyer recently contacted me with a task that I need everyone's help on. LEGO and their community team would like a list of the various upcoming events for the rest of 2008 and 2009 so they know how to allot their resources. Other goals include getting more LEGO employees involved, spreading the word about these events to other AFOLs, and better marketing and planning through LEGO channels. So what I need from you all is information about any Lego events you and your LUGs and communities are planning. In addition, if you have contact with other LUGs or groups, pass the word on to them. Let as many AFOLs know as possible so we can generate a complete and thorough list. Here's what I need: - Name of the Event - Date ~ If the event is still in the planning stages, at least give a month ~ Differentiate here between public days and closed days for set up - Place ~ Country and city ~ Venue/address if possible as well - Contact Person/Organizer including contact details - Expected number of AFOLs - Expected number of public visitors - Webpage - Any other relevant info ~ Theme based event ~ Part of a bigger show (e.g. NMRA) ~ How many times this event has been done or if it is a completely new event ~ Public or private ~ Etc - (Optional) A very short description of the event - one or two sentences Details can be posted here or emailed to me at andrew@bzpower.com (make the subject "LEGO Event Listing"). Thanks everyone for your help and cooperation. Hopefully I'll see some of you at these events next year! -Andrew
