  1. Yeah the advent calendar seems like an ideal place to toss a husky in. I guess they might want those to be an exclusive mold for the Arctic subtheme though, starting out. Gives people some extra incentive to pick up those sets.

I recently received my first. Not on the boat - Got it for my comment as to not really being on board with the whole "Lego movie" idea, doesn't seem like something I wanna go see and its tie-in sets are delaying all my favorite themes, stateside!
  3. All signs point to it being the Sea Cow pirate ship from the Lego Movie, not anything SH related. Pretty much the only chance it looks like we have of GL this year would be a surprise store-exclusive set that somehow hasn't been revealed, or him being a promo pack-in with the Lego Movie blu-ray or something. And both of those are just wild speculation. It's probably safe to say we'll get all 5 of the main team members from the movie. I just hope we get a Star-Lord headpiece that looks like the movie version rather than the helmet from the video game. Actually I hope we get a headpiece at all since Lego really, really loves to just give us printed heads with no headgear in this theme.
  4. Wasn't the GL movie in 2011? I don't think we were even getting SH sets when it came out. I dunno if I'd say they had sets "In the pipeline." Also it's probably safe to bet on New 52 designs for everything not tied to a movie or a specific cartoon, considering New 52 is the current DC continuity. I'm still taking the instagram thing with a grain of salt though. I'm not convinced that guy works for Lego, or that he'd be allowed to dole out that sort of info if he was. I'm also not convinced they'd even have "next year" worked out just yet considering the news to push back the movie and its related sets just came through in the last few weeks.
  5. I feel like I've seen some kind of SW molds in other themes but I can't think of specifically what it was. So I could be totally wrong.

I'm extremely jealous of all your masonry bricks. It's almost like cheating, they make everything look better! This is a great MOC.
  7. It's been mentioned several times. But we don't really know anything other than that he's on the calendar. No real solid indication of any more DC sets on the horizon before 2015, and the only other thing Batman is coming in besides the Steamroller and Penguin Face-off is a Lego movie set that, going by the Nuremberg footage I saw, is just the standard black suit with yellow bat symbol. So, we noticed it, we just don't know if it's even gonna be a thing, or if it's just a mockup or what. I agree. I'm at the point where I collect DC and Marvel about equally but since DC focuses so much on one particular character I'm glad to see new DC characters however we can (except SDCC exclusives, screw those). Marvel will be waaaay out in the lead when the GotG sets come out, that'll be (at least) 5 more heroes. I can't say I'm not psyched though. GotG in Lego (and movie!) form is a dream come true.
  8. If so I'd think it would be later in the year. They could do it to line up with the GotG sets or something, but it'll most likely be at least second half of year before they do another "with order of $75" promo figure (not counting the May the 4th SW one, since that's a given).
  9. The February exclusive is the Simpsons house. The March exclusive will be the Sea Cow, if that's the set that goes on sale Feb 17th. And the calendar doesn't suggest an early-access for VIP set on March 17th, so if we do get a SH D2C it almost definitely won't be in March, most likely in summer if it happens at all.
  10. Yeah that's the count I was coming up with. Wasn't counting Iron Fist/Nova/Powerman, I did count Wolverine and Spider-man. I don't know why.
  11. At that point it's not even based on the Cuusoo project in question. Considering that involves (from what I've read) paying the fan-designer a portion of royalties, etc., how do you figure that out when you aren't using the fan's design as a basis?
  12. 12? Do we have that many, officially?
  13. We might see them at the NY Toy fair that's in about two weeks, but the movie is still a ways off and the whole spoiler issue comes into play. We didn't see the Iron Man 3 sets that long before the movie. Edit: See them publicly, I mean. They were apparently already at the London fair where pictures weren't allowed, but only actually shown to select people.
  14. Got it. If the February 17th one is the ship, that's the March exclusive. The 17th bit is just for VIP members, it'll be available to everyone on the first of the following month. The Lego Movie is really cramping everything else's style, this winter. I'm not really a fan.
  15. I suppose they do. I don't see it on the actual calendar for confirmation, but it's probably safe to assume if it's available for VIP figures in February it'll the official March exclusive. Hard to say though, their claim that it's available in February doesn't seem to have an actual source. Even more bizarre, they state it as a fact on the February posting but as a "maybe" on the March one.
  16. Considering it's already been shown, as far as I know (albeit maybe not formally 'announced') I could see it being something different. All the superhero stuff on the advertisement makes me hopeful it could be a Marvel D2C but, I won't be surprised if it isn't. Still, you'd think we'd have at least heard them mentioned by people at the Nuremberg fair. I also doubt there'd be a "no pictures" restriction on the X-jet, since it's not a movie tie-in.
  17. That seems to be the real question. I'm not sure if maybe, somehow, Super Heroes weren't on display at Nuremberg, or if the sites doing Lego coverage just don't care about it. It's hard to tell, considering a lot of websites neglect certain themes in their reporting.
  18. For better or worse, most things comic-based are going to be New 52. It's the current continuity for DC, after all. I don't mind it, but I'm not a die-hard purist for classic DC to the extent a lot of fans are. As far as I know these promotions are always in-store and through shop@home. I think the fine print actually says so, on the promo. If you follow the link to the full page bit it certainly looks legitimate.
  19. Martian Manhunter is a pleasant surprise. Kind of a shame he's promotional only instead of in a set- hope I have $75 to drop, come March. Pretty sweet he actually has leg printing, though!
  20. Adventure Time is pretty huge, at least in the States (dunno where you're from). I think the issue with it is going to be "who holds toy licenses already," more than anything.
  21. Link? Also proof he works for Lego? Edit: http://instagram.com/colour_explosion Found his instagram. Still skeptical on if he works for Lego/would be allowed to say something about GL's release publicly like that.
  22. That looks awesome! I need to make the rogues. May have to bricklink some more fleshy heads and hands though, I don't really have much in the way of fleshy figs yet.
  23. The only person we know of that's seen the GotG sets mentioned a brick-built Groot in one of those. So yeah, I'd say it could happen.
  24. Some report I was reading said somewhere between 1000-1100 pieces. I don't recall the exact number or which preview site I saw it reported on, either way, it's over 1000 pieces. Considering as much, I agree that it doesn't look like much. I also saw $90 somewhere. I'll go look for the source. Here it is. Brickfan is listing it as $89.99, also as 1023 pieces. In other words, save some money and just buy a Pet Shop instead of two of these.
  25. I feel your pain. Things are still rough here in the States, too, with lots of new issues coming up to bog down the recovery. That being said, Lego knows what they're doing. Even if it sucks for those of us who are having to cut back, Lego is making serious profits these days from the reports I hear about. I don't think their sales are hurting, economic meltdown or no. This is exactly why I don't get people throwing around broad-stroke generalizations like "licensed sets are more expensive!" Star Wars may not be cheap, but Superheroes/Hobbit/TMNT all pretty much tend to fall in the 10c/pc category, at least in the US. City is expensive as hell, for what you get, on the other hand. I'm hopeful about these sets but not optimistic. They look like they should be $7/$20/$30/$50/$70-80, going by the boxes and the looks of the sets. I'm expecting $12/$25/$35-40/$60/$100, though.
