  1. The new Imperial Flagship was tedious with 1800 small pieces and it took me many hours to build. It also had not numbered bags so finding little pieces in all the little piles was a chore. Of course, well worth it, it is my best looking LEGO set too.

I was in St Thomas a year ago and all the buildings and warehouses and stuff were right along the waterfront. The water right there was not exceptionally deep so little boats were all that was along the docks and the bigger boats were 100 yards out of so. So I made a harbor that reflects that. It has been a long WIP adding a little here and there.
  3. Yeah, the bow chasers are in a great place. I never would have thought of there, and it was probably fairly simple to do. I imagine you can even cover them up if you wanted to.
  4. Bengun- yesterday I changed the cabin floor to brown as well as the pieces the cabin sits and it looks much cohesive. I am not sure what you mean by lowering the cabin though. Ivan- I sort of agree with you that pirate ships should be smaller and faster, in reality they usually were. But I could not pass on making this behemoth.
  5. So it sounds like Cheese wedge is element of the decade and telescope could be element of the year, Congrats you two. Maybe next decade Telescope, keep trying!

Added another mast to my BSB, like the SES. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4314138 Another smaller ship http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4314139 When I built Brickbeards Revenge I mostly just added a second to the first. The left over bow and stern became a ship it own. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4314141 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4314143 My Harbor, varius wherehouses, restaurants, flag maker, Customs house, and Soldiers forts etc. Note custms officials Wig, custom made by me. Link http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=418157 and Last a hideout for the scurvey dogs http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=418160 Enjoy, let me hear(read) what you think. Oh yeah, and here are some of my Lego room http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=418159
  7. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=418161 I made the booms like the IF has so they look much cooler now. A few other changes here and there, added another color to ship, raised the prow a touch etc. Let me know what you think. Changed the cabin decks to brown and changed around support bricks underneath it. Also added decks and grates so the Pirates will stop falling to lower decks
  8. Fires-storm, you can add two more studs under the stern at the far rear to have a little more connection. On mine I changed a lot around and ended up adding a longer inverted slope so the underneath has longer support in the rear and more studs for connection. Are we talking about breeding horses now? Sorry. anyway here are some Booms like the Imp has but in black. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brithead...II/100_5173.jpg and http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brithead...II/100_5174.jpg and http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brithead...II/100_5170.jpg I believe these are deeplinks otherwise they will be available tomorrow.
  9. The Lightsabre/magic wand 4 stud bar is a great one I totally forgot. I use that all the time. The Lightsabre hilt is also a strong contender. Use that a lot too. Which is a very similar piece to the new spyglass piece. There are a lot of amazing little weird pieces. It is amazing to me how versatile LEGO elements are. No surprise LEGO has so many fans around the globe.
  10. I went to LEGOland in San Diego and bought the pieces to replace my stirrer stick booms and fix the Bounty to have awesome looking booms like the Imp Flagship and it makes a huge difference. It only cost a little more that $4 but lots of time to dig through the 12 or so buckets to find the pieces, 91 technic barrel connecters, about the same amount 2 stud technic bars and 4 stud bars. I do the shopping pass there ever 6 or so months. The have so many more elements to PAB that any of the stores. It does look much better. I promise to post pictures soon.
  11. I have two older brothers so our collection bleeds together so much I have no Idea what MY first set was but it surely had to be in 80 or 81. We always had lots of Cops and Firemen, grey space vehicles and plenty of that really old stuff. Cool topic though.

I have about $2000 GP. Lots of gems, unfinished gold, silver and copper as well. Some of the GP is from old pirates, boy they could be rich if they had a gold investment strategy, burying it is not a good strategy. Working on some pics of it for you all. Oh yeah and the greatest treasure ever, the Art of the Covenant! Really it is just priceless.
  13. I got this back on Jan 1st and promptly began putting it together. Now I never bought into the notion of <insert that tiresome argument> sets, it was just a LEGO decision to use some bigger elements, whatever. But IF juniorization was a real phenomena this set is the complete antithesis of it and could even be considered seniorification because it is almost entirely small piece making for a long and exciting build. There are so many small pieces in this set. I am 33 years old and have been building LEGO most of that time and this set took me about 4 hours to build and that is with a break half-way through. It is the most amazing set I have ever had. It is a great build and a beautiful model. Everyone needs to pick this one up. I did not have the same bow issues he mentions in his review and mine seems to be quite sturdy. But seriously, go buy it now.
  14. I have been thinking about this for a month or so now. I got the Imperial Flagship on Jan 1 and the use of the Exo-force robot arms to hold the rigging struck me as a brilliant use of that element, so I began thinking of other great elements beyond typical bricks and some of the amazing uses. Another good example is the Droid arms. They have had a million other uses besides arms, ladders, greebles, holders of all sorts, etc. The cheese wedge has made a fast and huge impression as well. Even the Exo-Force robot hands have appeared everywhere. If one of these parts or another could be considered part of the year 2009 and even part of the decade which would you choose? The part of the year does not need to be first produced in said year but used in constructive ways in that year by either LEGO officially or by any of us or all of us. An example of that might be the small round 1x1 used as canonballs in shooting canons being used to construct a rook to look like Spanish tiles. It is a very old piece but a newer construction use for it. Element of the year 2009 I nominate the cheesewedge. I am still debating part of the decade. What are your thoughts on this?
  15. We mus'nt let our Pirates get so easily over powered.
  16. Backwards mermaid is my lack of paying attention.
  17. thought they were deeplinks but chnaged them, sorry matey

88d So, Brickbeard saw the plans for the new Imperial Flagship and decided to cash in his gold and get a larger ship. This is Brickbeard's Revenge, his larger ship. It is basically two Bounties and a few extra pieces. It will give the new flagship a run for its money. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brithead...picture_111.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/brithead...picture_119.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4167132 ...and folder when moderated. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=406193 Let me know what you think. Enjoy
  19. I want a double-double. Those trees are nice too.
  20. My first was the Forbidden Island as soon as it hit stores back in '89. My friend got the BSB then too and it was so amazing. By the years end I had the BSB and El Dorado Fortress to have some real Pirate wars. Also a bunch of the small sets too. Been a fan ever since. Just barely got the Caribean Clipper last year though, rounding out 1989 for me.

Cheap Chuck, there is no reward for his name. Real name is Charles Wentworth. Born in Wales and began sailing at 12 aboard a merchant ship. Years later they were attacked by Pirates and he chose to join them not die. Been with that crew ever since. Or something like that. Arrggh Matey.
  22. My money says cloned, here is why. It has to do with print and seperating colors. A website, Gizmodo, or something like that, had some videos from the LEGO factory. These videos showed elements being sorted and the vault and even some torsos being printed. When a clone brick manufacturer goes to redo the colors they wil be messy and many times switched aroung because the process for color seperation in printing can be tricky and it is easier for them to no be too particular about it. There is that one FAKE brand that makes the silver swords and all the sets are near copies of LEGO ones. If you look closely you will see the torsos are always very similar but not identical. I bet this is their handy work. Buying LEGO on ebay is iffy at best, you never really know what you are getting. On bricklink you stand a better chance of getting the real thing. I bought all my Imerial Soldiers at Toys R Us back in the day and I know they are all real and they all have Gold Buttons. Also, for the LEGO printer to switch the black and gold like they are it would be a monumental screw up.
  23. Uhh, the new sets are terrific and go well with the old sets. Go buy them all today!

Willa is NOT a Pirate, she is a witch. Kidding.
  25. The green ones in LDD look sharp. Dark green would look cool too. What about Purple? It is a regal color. Also in Pirates of the Carribean At Worlds End the East India Company army has black Jackets and it looks pretty tough. With Black you can use any epilette color and it would look good. With Purple some epilette color combos might look off.
