  1. Steering ideas: There's a new 8 tooth sliding gear in the 420009 crane; If you use that with the steering rack, you could have the steering shaft change angles (with a CV joint or similar) and still have steering.
  2. You can use rebrickable. Add all of the sets you own, then compare it to the moc.
  3. How about some mini-sets that add onto the 8110 unimog, like the cement mixer addon that replaces the included crane and pickup bed, or maybe a set that adds the lawnmower attachment on ? Perhaps the train car pulling unimog
  4. Just pick one up anyways. It's an excellent set that will bring you many hours of fun.
  5. I'd say it's the 9398 4x4 crawler b-model.
  6. Yes, the Unimog steering has been somewhat corrected. nicjasno has made an improved version, and I've made one based on his as well that uses almost entirely pieces from the unimog set. His steering and suspension fixes and a video explaining everything can be found mine can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1696315/Unimog%20Front%20Axle.zip
  7. I've finally gone and built my version of the Unimog front axle assembly in LDD and made instructions and took pictures. click to download the zip (7.7mb) Props to nicjasno.
  8. I ran the cable on mine above the center differential "ball", it keeps it out of the way.
  9. I'm really looking forward to 42009. Would be nice if it had the remote control stuff, but it's a definite buy. Even more than that, I'm hoping they re-do the 8275 bulldozer as well.
  10. This is great, but I can't help but think it's going to weigh roughly as much as the real deal when you're done
  11. What I would really like, but is probably an awful idea, is a 1-length bushing for pins.
  12. I'm having way too much fun with this
  13. Mine would have to be 8069 backhoe loader, and 8836 sky ranger. 8069 backhoe loader since it was my reintroduction into lego 8836 sky ranger because it was my very first technic set
  14. I've managed to make it even worse Two thin 1x2 with 2 axle holes, one with the axle, one with a half-axle pin To build it, simply stack two thin plates, join them with the half-axle pin, then put a connector peg into the crossblock, and lock it in with your 2-length axle Then, just throw it away because you can't recover from that.
  15. LDD would not let me put the turntable on top of an H frame, so I made something even more cruel
  16. Next, you need a real unimog :p
  17. How about a new, strong bevel gear, like the existing 20t but stronger ? A wheel with large hub and small tire, so you can pack it full of steering parts for better steering geometry ? A larger "clutch" gear similar to the existing 16t clutched gear, but in 24, 36, and 40t A stronger 36t gear
  18. What if I gear down using the portal axles, instead of 2x16t gears, I used 1x8t + 1x24t? I know if I remove the 4 cylinder engine I should have the space to gear it down even more. Of course there's also the servo motor for steering, the IR reciever, and the battery pack I also have to add on.
  19. I would say that #1 would still be 8880 supercar. It's still the only technic set that uses that hub assembly, giving it the best steering geometry of any set. The old model team models would be good too, given the amount of detail they had.
  20. Got a unimog recently, built it, and love it. Looking forward to motorizing it. Don't have much experience with motorizing things, would buying set 4x4 crawler (which I plan on doing anyways) give me all the parts I need ? I've also managed to modify the front suspension to be more proper. Based on the LPE Power one, but using almost exclusively parts from the unimog set front suspension + bed + crane / plow
