I think that the new ones are fine, they just don't have any water. But I deal more with Imperial land based stuff anyways

Which 2009 Lego Pirate sets do you have?
- 3 Cannon Battle - 3 Soldiers Arsenal - 1 Soldier's Fort - 1 Loot Is. - 2 Pirate Survival These are all pretty strong sets, especially the impulses, because they're good army builders

Carribean Clipper vs the Imperial Flagship
Both of them are more like raiding craft than an actual "flagship," but I still voted for the Imperial Flagship because the design is better, and I just like the imperials better in general.
