[TC27] Aircraft Simulator Truck
Seasider replied to lmdesigner42's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingAn interesting idea. I’d create a pod/box on the back like you get as a simulator at a show. I’ve never seen them with a small plane or aircraft Seen these lots of times and been in a few.

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingOn the 17th June @Jim gave a list of all the wheels that were allowed. It’s the list from Bricklink of the wheels that officially fit the tyre. As to a fuel tank, on these vehicles the fuel tank is hidden between the chassis rails underneath the rear bed. So you wouldn’t see it, and I wouldn’t be able to package it! These vehicles are tiny in real life, not like a normal truck.

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingModel is all finished now. Just need to find the time to take some better photos and make a very short video. And hopefully @Jim will open the entry thread as I’ll be away on holiday when the deadline is.

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThey’re #3 connectors at the moment, mainly as I wasn’t sure where the bed would end up relative to the piston stroke. I need to see if I can swap out for #4 as I agree they’ll look better. I know the engines on these vehicles often sit at an angle to save space. and talking of the rear bed. A couple of hours of playing today … Chassis needs some bracing around the rear now to support this

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBit of an update from me. Some Bricklink orders came in so switched out the temp parts. Did a lot of work under the skin, lots of little updates where parts in Stud.io didn’t work in reality. Got the switchable 4WD in there, so RWD or 4WD. Bed is just for sizing at the moment. Yes they are #4 connectors at the base of the A Post

75379 R2D2 stand to match 75398 C3PO
Has anyone created a sand base so that R2 can match 3PO ? Ive bought both and intend to display together but don’t like the idea that R2 doesn’t have a matching base

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingA lot of progress this week with my digital model as the better half has been away so an hours worth of building per night trying to solve problem after problem. So today I thought I’d finally switch back to physical and see how it all hangs together, see what doesn’t work and also work out which bits I don’t have in my inventory. So here you go … … the keen eyed will notice I’ve got some lovely new engine cams and “pistons” (couldn’t resist). So lots of progress and I’m generally happy … but lots of things to solve.

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBeen a while since I’ve done any work on this as life has got in the way, and still may even more. But this afternoon I managed to get a few hours to sit down and work on the bodywork. Lots is held on by “skyhooks” at the moment. But I think the cab shape is about there. Also I’ve raised the chassis up 1 stud compared to the wheels which I think looks more like the vehicles I’m trying to represent. I’m hoping to get some more time tomorrow. When I’ll work on a rear end and how to connect a steering wheel but I think that’s going to need some physical building.

[WIP] Bentley Turbo R LWB
Seasider replied to MP LEGO Technic creations's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@MP LEGO Technic creations - so what do you want to know about the car? I may know a little about it and the brand 😉

42172 - McLaren P1
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think the photo @Marvelous Bricks is perhaps one of its better views. I’m not 100% sold on the front, think the black area looks a little heavy. But I don’t think they’ve done a bad job capturing the overall look of the car. Definitely a day 1 purchase for me and I might actually build it straight away unlike my SP3 which is still in its box

[TC27] Lowrider
Seasider replied to Zerobricks's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThat’s a cool model, glad we’re getting some entries that aren’t large trucks. Very impressed by how you’ve managed to package that all in such a small space. I see from your gif that you have the usual problem with a convertible and a bit of flex in the chassis around the door aperture.

1:10 Ford Fiesta RS WRC Rally car
Seasider replied to Zerobricks's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLooks good, you’ve captured it well. Didn’t realise you can overlay surfaces in LDD, wonder if you can do the same in Stud.io ?

[TC27] Reach stacker
Seasider replied to Jurss's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLooks good so far. I think you may want to make some fake struts to represent the lift cylinders. And carry the weight in a mechanism at the hinge point

[TC27] Crane Tipper/Hooklift
Seasider replied to Thirdwigg's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think I need to get one of those large technic boards they look very useful for working out mechanisms. glad to see you’re going with an entry. As others have said I like the hook lift truck. I think they’re an interesting mechanism, and will be different to others on here with crane trucks of various flavours

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling1:5.8 is a huge scale ! If you do take up that challenge please do share I build in a combination of physical and digital. At the moment my desk has 2 engines (one with Y pieces, one with cam pieces), 3 chassis and a cab. The yellow frame was the basic length width height, but as you can see not aligned properly as it goes through the axles rather than being the ground plane. Also I don’t have a large black frame to hand at the moment (actually that’s a lie as I have all the 1:8 supercars), and I’ll order one at some stage along with some other bits from Bricklink. The white panel is the correct height for the roof based off some dimensions of real Kei Trucks. I haven’t worked out how to do the angled A and B posts yet. I always find this tricky.

[TC27] Technic 49.5 x 20 Tire Vehicle Contest - Discussion Topic
Seasider replied to Jim's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling@Fluwoeb But the competition is called the “49.5 x 20 Tyre competition” … it’s not called the “49.5 x 20 and 43.2 x 22 Tyre competition” ! it’s the most basic rule of the competition that @Jim is asking us to adhere to

42172 - McLaren P1
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWhere are the half axles sticking out? Or do you mean the Y pieces on the wing. interesting to see that TLG have gone down the route of an older Supercar. But perhaps bodes well for the future. i think the exposed gear at the back is either HOG steering or there as part of the gearbox as the real thing is behind the engine. people have questioned why not other sorts of vehicles in this range. For me it’s simple, it’s all about the poster you’d have on the wall as a kid. For me it was a Countach and an F40. That’s how I view these models. so perhaps McLaren isn’t unveiling P18 at Goodwood then!

42172 - McLaren P1
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI’m not convinced by the photo as it looks like the old P1. Still think it’ll be based off the new P18 (internal project code) car just renamed at launch. As others have said the UCS car is normally released close to an actual car release, not from something that’s been on the roads for lots of years. Orange is an obvious choice due to McLarens history

[TC27] 90s Kei Truck
Seasider replied to Seasider's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThanks for the comments all, haven’t made that much progress as been busy working and away at weekends. @NV Lego technic I’ve switched to the cams instead of the Y piece, yes a lot smoother but just means I don’t have the piston sequence like before. @Divitis interesting setup but I want diffs at both ends and also I’ve worked out suspension is a bad idea because of clearances. But that’s a neat idea you came up with. @Jundis yes the gearing was purely to get the engine to run quicker, although in my latest iteration this may be ditched. @2GodBDGlory well my scale is 1:10.8, I haven’t checked what other scales you can get to with Lego wheels. The problem will be going bigger is I think you’ll end up with a tiny steering wheel! So some updates from me, not much progress. Bit of a rework on the chassis where I’ve lifted the engine by 1 stud (I’ve not put the cams on the stud.io model yet). I’ve then started to block out the bodywork to get an appreciation of things.

42172 - McLaren P1
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt would only have adjustable suspension if the car has it. I know for a fact that the Chiron and the Sian both had passive suspension. It’s only every 2 years that they release a “ultimate” car … just think of other people who think … “not another truck” or not another “backhoe” every now and then. I’m still waiting for a decent large Tractor, and no the CLAAS didn’t count as that had the same size wheels

42172 - McLaren P1
Seasider replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt’ll be a car, will have steering, a fake motor and a gearbox. Closures will open (doors, etc) and a wing may be functional. What more are people expecting ? I’m very pleased with the collection of “UCS” cars so far. I still like the 911 but I think my favourite is the Sian but that’s because I like Lambos. We should stop comparing MOCs to TLG creations. Think of it like comparing a car straight from the factory to one someone has modified with a new body kit and an engine tune. Both have their place in the world but they’ll always have their own strengths and weaknesses. lets just wait and see what TLG delivers us this time round.
