Toy Story discussion thread
EB member Mariann Asanuma (Model Gal on Flickr) has pics of Pizza Planet Truck Rescue and Western Train Chase! I'll definitely take more close up pics of the sets today at the public expo event. Enjoy! EDIT: It looks like the mudguards and back of the truck use yellow windshields!

Toy Story discussion thread
Great find YG-49! I'm really excited for tomorrow's public expo, where I'll be able to see these sets with my own eyes. I'll be sure to take lots of pics, just in case there aren't any by tomorrow! EDIT: By the way, Profound Whatever says that the legs do come off.

Lego discovery in the digital age
I do agree with what you've said. A couple of years ago (2006-2008, when I didn't know about the online community), I would just stumble into the LEGO aisle and see some extremely cool sets, like the MTT and Slave I. I had never seen them before, and really wanted to buy them (I thought that the Slave I was too expensive at the time, though, and passed ), but that was before I became a true LEGO fan. Now, when all of the sets come out, the new sets at the stores seem as if they were out for quite some time since I had already seen them tens or hundreds of times online (I can't resist looking at the Toy Fair and preliminary pictures of the sets - I keep trying to stay in the present and check out all of the current sets, but it's just so tempting). I really miss the surprise and excitement when new sets appear unexpectedly. However, there are still some surprise sets these days. Remember the Republic Dropship with AT-OT? That was revealed less than a month before it came out!

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
The Zillo Beast episode was quite interesting. The beast itself looks very cool, and the electro-proton bomb was awesome. It took out thousands of droids in less than a minute! The episode commentary for this episode was interesting to watch. The red Y-wing carrying the bomb looked great, and I liked all the subtle references to Godzilla!

the great orange torso chase
There was a topic on this torso a couple of months ago, but I can't find it. After a bit of searching on Brickset, I found the set with the torso: (click for link to set) It's not released yet, which is probably why you can't find the minifig anywhere. Oh, and FBTB has one pic of the set. It's due to be released in August in North America for $50 USD: EDIT: See Etzel's post below for more info

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
Borders has a 30% off coupon today (expires 4/12/10) for the US! Hopefully I'll be able to get Echo Base or some other set. http://www.dealigg.com/story-Borders-Coupon-Code-Discount For some reason, there are two coupons: "for you" and "for a friend". The "for a friend" one doesn't require a Borders Rewards membership. I wonder if you can use both during this weekend?

Review of 10186 General Grievous Set
I bought this last year for my birthday when it was 66% off, and I'm glad that I did! It's a great parts pack (I used it for the EB battle pack contest and made a MOC that even impressed myself ) and looks very cool when built. Unfortunately he's not very posable (you can bend his hips, move the head and move the arms - two arms have one point of rotation and the other two have two points - but not much else. I measured mine and he's about 15¼ inches (39 cm) up to the neck and about 23 inches (59 cm) up to the top two lightsabers. Yeah, that's the fatal flaw of the set. If they gave Technic Darth Vader a cape, then decided to give Construct-a-Zurg a cape years later, why not one for this set (it also seems that the CW Grievous minifig won't have a cape, either)?

New DesignByMe/LDD/Pick-A-Brick palette
Yay, new parts! Looks like a wonderful selection! The $100 bill, Power Miners dynamite, 2 x 4 tiles, dark bley 2 x 2 jumper plate, reddish brown paddle, larger claw/teeth, cutlass, and ice cream are the most interesting to me.

Mid-Scale Republic Gunship & Dropship/AT-TE
Wow, cool MOCs! These vehicles look great in midi-scale, especially the LAAT/c with AT-TE! Any chance of comparisons with the minifig-scale official sets / the mini sets?

LEGO Prince of Persia MOC - Alamut Gate
Yet another stunning MOC! I love how the arch has multiple arches behind it to give it a staggered look. The use of headlight bricks for the wall detail is a very neat idea, and there's a bunch of pearl gold dome and dark tan goodness too! Just wondering, how much space do you have in the interior?

Latest updates on LEGO set sales
Amazon USA has 8036 Separatist Shuttle on sale for $22.54, normally $30! I should've waited to buy the set (although, I'm not sure that I would've been able to wait for half a year )... EDIT: 7749 Echo Base is on sale for about $20, normally $25. Thanks to FBTB for the info Not really much off, but it's still something. I'm going to wait for a 30-40% off Borders coupon before getting it though.

never seen the movies...
Today I just finished watching The Empire Strikes Back. Another great movie! I didn't know that there would be so much inside this episode - the battle of Hoth was much shorter than I thought! The tauntauns and wampa look very odd (good thing the LEGO versions look much better!), and all the vehicles and scenes are just as I thought they would be. It also had some of the memorable scenes, like Han being frozen in carbonite and using the tow cable on the snowspeeder to take down the AT-AT. And I'm starting to see how marketing works...now I want to buy some Hoth sets and I get minifigs of the main characters I don't have - C-3PO, a non chrome black Darth Vader (although his helmet is pretty shiny), Lando, a Hoth Han and Leia, and a Cloud City Leia. Now, time to watch Return of the Jedi! EDIT: There was one thing I didn't understand, though: what was up with the fake Vader on Dagobah? Was that a robot or a figment of Luke's imagination?

AFOL - A Blocumentary
Cool video! It's great to know what AFOLs like about LEGO and what they do on their spare time. I particularly liked the part in the credits where an AFOL was trying to use one of those Racers air stompers. And Nadroj, if you're reading this topic, you better hope that Sandy doesn't fly in unexpectedly from Finland.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
I was hoping to see more of Cad Bane before the end of the series...they had so many ads about him before this season aired. He was just in the first few episodes, which is a bit disappointing. I hope that Sugi and Embo will also have more appearances before the series ends, too - one episode isn't enough! However, the trailer for the finale episodes looks very interesting, especially with Bossk and a young Boba Fett.

A Street Fighter MOC: Vega vs. Ken
I agree, Vega's mask is very cool! Just wondering though, why does Ken have different hair on the K.O. pic?

New DesignByMe/LDD/Pick-A-Brick palette
Thanks for posting this! The parts that are being removed aren't extremely important to building (except the brown arches and a few other things on the list), but it does take away some cool parts, like the parrot and the stickered pieces from Star Justice, Space Skulls, and Custom Car Garage. Hopefully the update will have some more exciting parts for all of us to enjoy!

never seen the movies...
Taking all of your guys' advice, I watched my first Star Wars movie today (of the original six; the only other one I watched was Star Wars: The Clone Wars) - episode IV, A New Hope. It was a very cool movie! I thought that it was going to disappoint me after finishing it (mostly because of how old it is - 1977!), but it was very interesting! The stormtroopers are as cool as I thought they would be, as well as Han, Luke, and the rest of the main characters. I also like how Obi-Wan/Ben's spirit was still out there and speaking to Luke throughout the movie. One other thing I enjoyed was that the movie had a whole bunch of the memorable scenes I see in other places often, like the Jedi mind trick and trash compactor. I can't wait to watch The Empire Strikes Back!

REVIEW: LEGO Articulated Plush
These plush figures are interesting. I never saw any of these before except for the one MetroiD posted, so thanks for the pictures! I personally would spend my money on some real sets, but if they have these at a LEGOLAND I might buy it as a souvenir. My cousin has one just like that! He said that he bought it at LEGOLAND California...

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2 Discussion
Just finished watching the last three episodes, and they were quite enjoyable to watch! Senate Murders was probably the most boring out of the three. The episodes with more action are always the best! It was quite sad to see Cat and Mouse was interesting. Anakin and Yularen used an interesting technique to . Bounty Hunters was the best of the three. It was great to finally see Sugi and Embo (I thought that they would be with Cad Bane in the series), and it was cool how the Jedi actually worked together with them! It was also good to see Hondo Ohnaka again, but as the main enemy this time.

Prince of Persia 2010
It is a bit unfortunate how they still are lower quality, but I'll probably still get a copy as Zolm looks very cool. Thanks for that, Svelte! I was checking the site periodically for them.

Announcing a NEW Reviewer's Academy Initiative
I would like to sign up for this as I always notice small errors, but first, a question: What if I decide that I want to keep on reviewing? Of course, this could be another cunning April Fool's joke set by the staff/teachers - I've never seen tags just given away like this

MOC: Appa
Wow, stunning MOC Oky Wan! It reminds me of when I watched almost every episode of Avatar back in the days... This really shows how much potential the LEGO Avatar line had! I would have loved it if TLG made a brick-built Appa similar to your amazing one. I especially like this pic. It captures his classic bored face that you see all the time in the show.
