  1. Interestingly enough, I think this is the first time in an advent calendar where we actually have a proper number of weapons for outfitting the figures.
  2. This is the first year I ended up picking up the advent calendar at a mark up instead of a discount. I couldn't break up a streak though, so I had to get it.
  3. Please consider me for an entry into the raffle. I'm down in Pennsylvania, specifically Pittsburgh, which is a mere 6.5 hours from NYC by either bus or train (the easiest ways to actually get into the city) I am a complete and total pop culture geek, especially in terms of Marvel. In my day to day life, I work as a historian and writer, so I can assure you of solid coverage for the event. A few examples of my work can be found on my blog, but one post that is especially on topic for this is http://notourist.blogspot.com/2014/06/the-marvel-tarantino-connection.html in which I put forward a case that the Tarantino universe bookends directly into the MCU. In addition, I helped bring LEGO into the art world by curating an exhibit at the Future Tenant Gallery last year. Finally, I am used to travelling for a variety of reasons, most of them business, and as a result of some family issues, I have had to put my career and travels on hold. Working with Eurobricks would allow me to transition back to that world.
  4. Given how horribly awry the Comicon exclusives went last year, I have a (bad?) feeling we might end up going without from now on.
  5. My Iron Legion is now complete! The minifigs have arrived on the East Coast
  6. I just redeemed my Toys R Us points from December for the Dol Gulur Ambush. I will never figure out TRU's pricing policy.
  7. Hello CopMike, I just wanted to drop you a note. Since the raffle, my father has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. I've been spending most of my time taking care of him, and with money being tight, I haven't had much money for LEGO. I just helps keep my mind of the troubles. Thank you again.
  8. When you play the Game of Thrones, you win...or you die. You have won.
  9. Christmas was good this morning. Mia's Magic Show Forest Ambush (x3) Gold Getaway Stagecoach Escape The Mine Illium (Heroica) 2 Series 11 CMF 5 LEGO Movie CMF Laketown Guard Polybag (x3)
  10. That made my brain hurt a little, but as one of the bonus winners, I really need to thank you for all of that extra effort you put into an already arduous task. A Merry Christmas to you!
  11. Well, I was already planning on a few, (that Imperial Army needs built somehow) but I might have to double up again after reading. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else think the head of the Death Star Gunner might make a good Coulson head for Marvel?

Not Star Wars related, but I managed to convince Alton Brown to sign a Chef minifigure. His reaction: "How the hell do you expect me to sign this?" He then laughed and signed.
  13. Strangely enough, it seems like they don't have the Rescue set. Is that an exclusive for Target or Walmart?
  14. Huntleyfx replied to rashaun's post in a topic in LEGO Licensed
Very impressive. Is that Dr. Strange I see there in the middle?
  15. After seeing the new figures, I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Hydra goon, but I can definitely get behind Red Skull.

I am sliding in just under the wire, but here it is. Size matters not for decorating the tree with the Force. Thank you for organizing this once again, I was truly bummed to have missed out last year.
  17. I wasn't sold on M.O.D.O.K., but after seeing how it looks in the game, I can get behind that in figure form.
  18. Seeing that blown up sketch, it does look similar to one of the HYDRA vehicles form the first Captain America movie. That being said, I can make out what looks like the S.H.I.E.L.D. (some squinting required) in the center. This does fit in with what (little we know of the new film)
  19. Thinking very hard about this, but I think I will hold off pulling the trigger on this. There are too many repeats of old parts for my tastes.
  20. I know that I am a little late to the game, but here are my considerations, as well as potential numbers: Barbarian: Definitely thinking about a pairing with the Gladiator, the legs look good. One. Scarecrow: Potential for both realistic and horror MOCs. I will probably have it up with my Monster Fighters monsters. One. Bavarian Lady: Interesting looking, and pretzels are always welcome. An excellent companion to the Lederhosen Guy, and a nice bar wench for a medieval tavern. One. Evil Mech: Another robot. Still, it's another robot. One. Tiki Warrior: The Islanders have returned! An Army for me. Gingerbread Man: Since I collect build a big display for Christmas, this will go great with Santa, and other "toy" figures. Five to Ten. Holiday Elf: See the Gingerbread Man. Ten to Twenty. Yeti: I love the look, and once again, another denizen of the North Pole. One. Mountain Climber: I was very skeptical, but I like it a lot. I think a few will work well with the Forest Police, and the Firefighters. Two or Three. Welder: I like it. It will work well with the mechanics. I am also thinking the helmet might be a good start for a purist Mark I Ironman. One. Maybe Two for Parts. Scientist: I am not sure, but it might make a good doctor. One. Jazz Musician: The next step is making a police car. Have to go with Two. Diner Waitress: It's a food industry related figure, so I need one for my kitchen. One. Grandma: I want to like it, but I just can't. None. Constable: I like it, and it will pair well with a variety of previous figures. I am especially thinking the Detective and Businessman. Inspector Lestrange, perhaps? Two or Three. Lady Robot: The clockwork robot has a girlfriend. One.
  21. Having picked one up as an experiment (I do some work as an experimental archaeologist, with a focus on the Civil War) I am looking forward to army building this like nothing else. I have no idea what to do with so many cannons, but I am thinking a new version of Legorado might be in the works for me.
  22. I am actually welcoming it, as the cost is almost identical for a series 1 clown.
  23. This has to be one of my favorite MOCs of all time.Any chance we can get a line up shot of all of the characters in the scene? I'd especially like to see the additional Monster Fighters.
  24. But if it is like Diagon Alley, that would lend credence to the idea that the theme will be over soon. One last huge set to kill the theme.

In between Castle, and LOTR, I am actually rather pleased. I think I will most likely pick up multiples of the smaller sets, as I am extremely glad that the Crown is returning as a faction. I also definitely have a use for Dragon knights. Finally, a chance to build my two main factions. This is going to be a great year for LEGO Castle.
