Well, I'm very new here, but I do know something about this subject, as I'm on staff at a website with a strong "no prototypes" policy: Essentially it's this...any production samples from the factory that would be sold out of ebay or at some shady store in China (with LEGO I'd assume somewhere in Europe) are usually considered "stolen" and it's illegal to sell or purchase such items. Now, pictures of said items as well as images from the manufacturer that have not been officially released are also considered the manufacturer's property and are also considered "stolen" Now... It is indeed illegal for a website to have these "stolen" images on their own server. But, you can link to them from another site all you want because then it's the legal burden of the image hosts, not the linker. And, as many of you suspect, talking about any "unofficial" images or objects is perfectly legal. Now, with images coming from a retailer catalog...those would NOT be considered stolen and as such can be kept on a server without legal ramifications. Many companies would prefer that anything that they do not release themselves to the general public as official be removed or not discussed, but what they would like, and what they can legally stop are two different things. As a good faith gesture, many sites bow to a company's wishes and remove any images or discussion the company asks them to...but as I've seen first hand, the gesture is seldom returned. But...that's just how I understand it. That whole spiel could be lousy with misconceptions or mistakes, I'm just repeating what I know to be the case
