  1. Not that I can dictate anything but -- I've never been a fan of more advanced firearms (muskets, etc) in my medieval-ish fantasy. It just doesn't feel right. But if you adapted these game rules into a new Pirate-themed RPG, I'd definitely have to join up for that too. Or even a sci-fi Star Wars meets Warhammer 40K type game. I'd play that too.
  2. Adelric stopped some yards from the entrance to Heroica Hall, taking a moment to study the structure. Barely looking, he secured the ties that suspended his helmet from his saddle-bow, and tucked his new bedroll more securely beneath the saddle. Shrugging out of the arm-straps of his heavy shield, Adelric afixed them to the saddle as well before handing the reins off to a stableboy and giving the big destrier a reassuring pat as it was led away. Closing a leather-clad hand around the door-ring, Adelric pulled the heavy wooden door open and stepped inside. The knight draped a hand across the pommel of his sword, spurs lightly clanking as he crossed the floor. He was unfamiliar with this place, but walked with the confidence of a man born to battle and used to being in control - of himself as well as of others. While taking the measure of the Hall's many and varied patrons, he caught sight of his goal. Coming upon the Questboard, Adelric's eyes scanned the rough parchments afixed to the dark wood. A moment later he was marking his name down twice, registering his service to Quest#1: Harvest Time and Quest #2: Looking Through the Wares. Satisfied, he made his way to an unattended table and dropped himself into a chair with the light jangle of mail. "A drink please, something warm," he called out, nodding gratefully when it arrived. He'd heard much of this place, including good things about its mulled wine. Though what had drawn him here were the tales of the goodly deeds the men and women of Heroica had done. If a knight truly wished to make his mark upon the world, and surround his name in honour - this was as good a place to assure that as any. A smile crept to Adelric's lips, genuine but thin. "This should be interesting," he half-sighed, watching the other patrons. Ser Adelric : Level 1 Knight 34-year-old Human Male Power: 4 Health: 10 Gold: 0 Inventory: Longsword (WP 3), Shield (SP 2), Potion x2, Bedroll

Swinging down from the saddle of his destrier, Adelric forced his way through the pressing crowd; occasionally using his heavy shield to nudge smallfolk out of the way. Coming upon the stall marked as PORTIA'S POTION SHACK, Adelric set down five gold coins and flashed a courteous smile as he pointed out a potion in a slim, corked cylinder. Before making his way toward the hall, the knight frowned at the condition of his bedroll; torn and filthy. Twisting around, he spied GNOMEO'S TOOLSHED. A quick detour in that direction brought him to a new bedroll and five less gold pieces in his purse. Grunting quietly at the feel of the empty leather hanging from his belt, Adelric tugged at the reins of his warhorse, trudging past some less trustworthy dealers to make his way to Heroica Hall. ((Summary: Portia's Potion Shack -- 1 potion at 5 gold total. Gnomeo's Toolshed -- 1 bedroll at 5 gold total. Grand total of 10 gold spent))
  4. The atmosphere of the IC thread is really hard to get a handle on. Some seem to be playing it straight-laced like reading a fantasy novel, others are more casual (like conversational tabletop gaming) and others are bordering on Your Highness territory. Yikes. Gonna make an intro post soon once I get a handle on it all.
  5. The Marketplace looks very cool. Gets the excitement going for what we'll be able to do once we have some cash. It did spark a question that I hadn't thought of earlier, though (being that there's no armour to buy in the marketplace): --Does the armour you wear have absolutely no effect in this game?
  6. While I've mostly remained a lurker since joining - this is something I could really get into. Especially since I had to stop P&P gaming two years ago. Been jonesing for a gaming fix ever since. I do have a couple of questions though: 1.) What about mounts? It seems strange to have knights and not horses/griffins/dragons to ride. Will that be something that comes later -- or can we assume that a knight at least owns a horse if he/she chooses? 2.) Am I correct in assuming that we'll be able, if we choose, to update our character image whenever we might acquire better equipment? 3.) Does Heroica follow the established LEGO universe's known locations -- such as Morcia? Seems like it could be difficult to consider a proper character background without knowing anything about the geography of the world. And thanks for putting this together. It does look like fun.
  7. S'all right. Just keep in mind that if you didn't make it and you can't remember where it's from to give credit and ask permission to use it -- you probably shouldn't. And for the record, the German WWII decals occasionally referenced around here as being my work actually aren't. Those decals were made by Will Chapman.
  8. Another excellent review, Dragonator. Glad you're digging the new items. As for the choice of medieval sword - Badg and I both agreed that there's a lot to be said for a true 'longsword-size' sword. The longsword and arming sword sizes each have their own pros and cons, so we're aware one size does not fit all. If the 'Damien blade' version does particularly well in sales, we'll have more footing to push for a larger sized medieval sword in a future mold. It's definitely something we'd both jump at the chance for. It's up to the fans to make that one happen, though.
  9. Indeed. The entire holster-harness section which comprises a great part of the decal is blatantly copied from my decals and is being used without my permission. I really, really don't appreciate that.
  10. I think I can help out by going ahead and giving you guys an official statement on the Gunblade: It's not done. The initial prototype was well-liked, but Will felt it still needed some work, so it's being revised. So it's currently not in production, but it's still kicking around and has not been forgotten, nor the fans that really liked it. Great review, Dragonator. I'm looking forward to Part II, as Badg and I both pushed pretty heavily for the bladed weapons and we're both stoked to see fan reaction to them.
