I really need to start my thread on adding LEDs to the engines. I have a great solution :) For now here's what i did: I bought a 21-LED strand at target for $10 but they were in the Halloween seasonal section. I got the ones with the plastic skulls, and removed the skulls. I had to trim some of the plastic back so the LEDs would stick out, but the LED fit PERFECTLY inside the technic holes! It plugs into an outlet, so you'll need an extension chord, or some way to switch them on and off. I got about 20 of these to mount the LEDs, but I dont think i need them all. I had to CUT them with a hacksaw to get them to 2 x 3 size. These fit along the inside wherever i needed: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=682&colorID=86 I used about 10 or 12 of these in order to allow light to shine through the technic beam parts of the back, as well as to mount the LEDs. These will replace a lot of the existing technic beams. So lucky that these worked as mounts too. I had to really tear up the back to get these installed. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=48186&colorID=86 I used 2 of these to angle the wires in the middle (one on each side): http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=55615 And of course I got a lot of clear 2x3 plates and light bley 1 x 3 to cover the gaps. That's all for now!

Good point; I dont really like the UCS X-Wing or Star Destroyer. I would be interested in both if they were redesigned, but right now they are below average IMO, which is a shame for such iconic ships. Plus how many years should go by before it's OK for them to re-design these? I hope people change their minds in 40 years from now. A bunch of old grampas sitting around complaining about how the new X-Wing is going to soil their old memories.
  9. b4p replied to Lyichir's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think they should, and here are the people who get upset over it: 1. Investors: It's *risk* verses reward. Everyone knows the risks. 2. Collectors: How does a remake impact their existing collection? It doesn't. Some want to feel like unique snowflakes but they're not. Get over it. 3. People who are worried about someone else getting upset, but they themselves have no issues with it. It's just LEGO bricks, why so serious?
  10. There's no way it will fall off; I've moved it several times and it hasn't come close to slipping. Also, each stand has a technic axle that helps keep it from slipping. Since the original post i've added longer beams to replace the yellow and light-grey ones for added support. My only remaining problem is that the bottom part of the mini Star Destroyer does not look very good from that angle (it's on a seperate stand). There are too many horizontal layers of plates on it, and I'm thinking about redesigning it
  11. I hope this works. Find/Replace the WANTEDLISTID to whatever your wanted list ID is and then go here: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedXML.asp This is basically everything you will need. I actually changed out a few parts here and there. Also those 1x1 tiles should probably be DARK red instead of just red. <INVENTORY> <ITEM> <ITEMTYPE>P</ITEMTYPE> <ITEMID>2412b</ITEMID> <COLOR>85</COLOR> <CONDITION>X</CONDITION> <MINQTY>6</MINQTY> 12. Thanks! I dont have a lot of time to work on lego anymore, so this gets the krusty brand seal of approval
  13. Finished! I updated my original post. I think this is my first MOD post or something :)
  14. I thought she was giving him the Death Star plans, and the recording was done via his external camera (not pre-recorded). you can see at the end where she hears the stormtroopers coming and cuts it off early.
  15. I could do both :) I don't have a lot of time/parts/money to re-engineer it myself, so it might not happen anytime soon. I think the worst part is coming up with a parts list. I created your small falcon in LDD and ordered the parts through bricklink a few weeks ago. It's still a work-in-progress:
  16. I would like to display my 10221 on a shelf that is close to the ceiling. Obviously I don't want to show off just the flat bottom of the model, so I am going to modify the existing stands, and maybe add additional stands if needed, in order to tilt one side of model more towards the ground. I think 35-45 degrees should be enough. Also, did anyone else notice that the bley technic axle that connects the back stand does not go completely into the model? Once the back stand is connected, 2 studs of axle are visible. The black axle on the front beam goes through completely, so I swapped the black/bley axles. I think it might've been a misprint in the instructions, but it's possible i screwed up somewhere building the model. finished! I ended up making one side of the stand 1 stud taller. Since they don't make studs in odd numbers, or longer that 15 (i think), i had to grab some of my old technic beams and throw something together. The sloping pieces hang over the edges now and I removed the 1x4 bricks. I have a bricklink order incoming with some black pieces of the correct length. Sorry about the blurry photo, I took it from across the room so you could see the correct angle which it will normally be seen.
  17. b4p replied to grs's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
it would be a total waste of money to buy a 10221 and hope you'd get much of anything you can use on 10179. i'd say technic beams and like 30 small (cheap) greebles pieces would be about all you'd get (just a guess; i didnt check out bricklink)

Do the instructions have some unique code? I read that they did, but I don't see it anywhere.
  19. b4p replied to jasonsmith's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
my solution to all our problems: find a way to paint something bley :)
  20. does anyone have instructions for that small falcon? thanks!

  22. b4p replied to mortesv's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
I just started the process of *attempting* to upgrade mine from the original gray to the newer bley color by first upgrading the light-gray plates. I could sell mine and try to hunt down a bley version, but for some reason I don't think that'll work out very well. The display sticker is awful, so I bet that'll hurt resale value. Once I get mine to bley I'll probably start adding something back there.
  23. b4p replied to JackJonespaw's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
it took me way too long to figure out what was going on :P pretty cool tho
  24. b4p replied to mortesv's post in a topic in LEGO Star Wars
am i the only one that kinna likes the old grey better? i dont have it displayed near any other legos, though. the old grey gives it a more realistic look IMO; the bley color is really awesome, but it's more cartoony and less gritty. maybe if i had bley i'd like it more than old grey; it's hard to tell. awesome mod btw; i'd do something similar to mine, but the engines are facing a wall so it would be a waste of time
