  1. No, that's just a clever way of hiding extra parts, like the additional T-part in 42053. It's not advertised as being an integral function or even a realistic detail.
  2. Yeah, I'm not doing TLG's job for them. But orienting to your main point, neither 42036 not 42092 are "real" vehicles; they're vague approximations, and can thus skimp on the details a bit. This set, on the other hand, is supposed to be a replica of an actual, existing vehicle, and it does not accurately represent the real thing even at the scale presented. *mic drop*
  3. But what motion is there is realistic, unlike the header on this set. 42121 is at least spared by not being a specifically badged, licensed vehicle, whereas this 🐕 professes to be a realistic portrayal of a John Deere 9700 forage harvester and is anything but. Even the bodywork is seriously off, and I'm one of the people who defended the shaping of 42078!
  4. Again, the linkage isn't realistic, but the motion is, and is as accurate as is possible at that scale. And I'm not sure what situation would warrant half of the blades on a forage header going the wrong way.
  5. Yes. Both technically Volvo sets. Well, knowing is half the battle.
  6. Exactly. Now imagine the bucket dumping when the arm is lowered, and vice versa. That would be wrong, right? Wrong like half the blades of a forage header going the wrong way.
  7. 42167 is technically a Volvo set, seeing as Mack is a Volvo brand.
  8. What I mean is that the motion is realistic, not the means of control which, again, ties into the mechanism. The arm and bucket move like those on a real excavator, just as the header on this model does NOT move like that on a real forage harvester.
  9. I'm actually hoping for licensed Mars sets! I'd love a Volvo drilling vehicle or suchlike.
  10. Like I said, the mechanisms aren't strictly realistic, but the arm and bucket move realistically. Uh, that's what we do on this forum. We over-analyze and criticise.
  11. The whole model is out of proportion, so I'm not sure that the header being a little outsized would have affected it much further.
  12. Multitudes. For example, 42121. Sure, the mechanisms aren't strictly realistic - no real machines are operated by HOG - but the represented functions are.
  13. The metal detector really makes me think that the designers looked to 7312 as inspiration.
  14. Because this model isn't even realistic in its functions. Blades on a forage header counter-rotate rather than spinning in the same direction. If the header worked as depicted in this model... well, then it wouldn't work. Here's a video for clarification.
  15. I'd think this set would look pretty poor next to 42136.
  16. I also like how the product description contains blatant lies, emphasis mine: "Forage header tool – Kids can learn how a real John Deere harvester works as they raise, lower and spin the forage header tool to replicate the actions of a real corn-cutting machine" "Engineering insights – LEGO® Technic™ buildable model sets (sold separately) feature realistic movement and mechanisms that introduce young LEGO builders to the universe of engineering" Lawl.
  17. 42053, 42054, and 42082 are three that jump out for me. While I would deem 42114 as being far from the best Technic set, it does have a MOC-like feel, especially the dump skip.
  18. Still think it's a shame that TLG couldn't do blue tyres for Sudden Impact considering the rainbow of tyres coming next year.
  19. I think the reason for that omission is that this is not a CAT-branded product.
  20. The Creator roller skate set for release next year includes pink tyres!
  21. @R0Sch Well of COURSE this set is gonna pale in comparison when you bring up that set.
