If you follow the instructions of the set and build it correctly you should have no troubles opening and closing the model or transporting it. The roof must stay on the same way you don't flip a jar of pickles upside down with the lid open and expect the content to stay inside! The model isn't complete without the roof, and the "dollhouse" configuration is the primary way of accessing the inside of it. :) About what some have started to refer as "an issue" regarding the opening and closing of the model, remember that this is the 3rd largest LEGO model ever produced in terms of number of elements. It has the biggest "hingable" section ever encountered in a LEGO official product: it naturally requires just a bit more of care when handling it. That's all. Other than that, you should all be able to enjoy and play with your models with no trouble! :) -

Thank you for your great review, CorneliusMurdock! Not only for the amazing score, but for all the effort in going into so much detail on your evaluation! It really humbles me everytime someone shows so much respect and admiration for something I've worked on. Merry Christmas to you all! -

You need to remove the ground-floor's furniture (they are easily removable) in order to have room to park the car and close the doors, but the Ecto-1 does go through the entrance! it was the compromise I had to make between making the car "fit the model" without leaving a big empty space in the ground-floor and compromising on details like Janine or Peter's desks. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

This is why we can never please everybody! 8-) Two people almost right after each other have completely opposite interests in regards of what a set should have, given that for their scale they can't have both - space for figures and an interesting and "impacting" play feature. Me, as the designer of the 3 of them, I'd say my favorite replica - for now, since I haven't seen the Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie yet - is the Milano, and although I agree that the lack of a key play feature is a downside, I had to stick to the main brief of getting an accurate model with room for all the characters - except Groot for obvious reasons! :) I have a special place in my heart for the first Quinjet, because it was indeed the first one, but the newest is my favorite one, because the original model has gotten a much slicker and aerodynamic look and I'm very proud of the look of the final product. And seeing the main play feature already depicted in the movie trailer really pumped me up! Can't wait to see the whole thing! So, my advice would be: get them all! ;) -
Are you sure you followed the instructions correctly? The mechanism isn't totally symmetric, so you might have missed something. The "H" and "X" configuration shouldn't affect anything in this matter.

Basic motions of a quad rotor can be described using the model of the following picture. The instruction of the LEGO model replicate this same physics principal. ;)

This is model I have built back in the first half of 2012. I don´t have the physical model anymore, but I just found the pics I had in my archive and decided to finally post it. It´s a steampunk submarine, originated from a former pirate ship that was converted. It had no interiors. It was simply a tryout into this world I quite love and admire for its aesthetic richness but to which I had never dared to dive. So, here's my first steampunk adventure! :) There´s more pictures of it on my flickr. Just follow any of the links of the pictures! :)

That seems a bit of an overreaction, no? ;) Look at this: Out of 5 different versions of the character, represented in that picture, only one has hair. Now, who's rushing in their assumptions and comments? :) The license partner actually has a lot of a say in what versions we can or cannot use, so it's not just up to us, designers, to pick and put them in the box.

So awesome!! :) I gotta remember to come back to this to really dig into the innumerous details! Well done!

During the development of the Ecto-1 for LEGO Ideas (former Cuusoo) I couldn't keep myself from creating the original 1959 black Cadillac that got turned into one of the most iconic movie vehicles of the silver screen. This is a very easy MOD that any fan of the movies can make, only having to basically swap the color of the exterior elements and clean up the top of the car. Thank you for asking! :) Often we notice in building tests we do with kids that they have a serious hard time pressing plates together. Not only the big ones, but also more "reasonable" sizes like a 2x6. And new consumers - often attracted by IPs like this one, without necessarily having much experience with LEGO - end up having a not optimal experience if we don't take it in consideration that it takes more effort and attention to make sure the bricks are pressed together. With this in mind, having two 2x3 plates instead would have tripled the amount of studs in that area, so I saw a perfect opportunity to introduce an element that I must admit I've completely fallen in love with lately. The color change wasn't done by me. I believe some other product that came or is coming out this year has needed it. Unfortunately I can't always keep track of your comments - you guys write too much! hehe - but I did read some and i must say i'm very happy you guys loved this set. I was thrilled to be part of it and with the great feedback I've been receiving I feel definitely very inspired and motivated for everything else still yet to come! :) So, thank you all!

"Completely unnecessary"? How do you know? Have you asked me the reason? ;)

You better hurry. It won't take long until it's discontinued...
