  1. Simply amazing! I also agree that this series is probably the best so far: lots of new ideas and good accessories! I like the hockey player (great in all details!), the soccer player, the garden gnome (face, beard, fishing rod), the professor (test tube!) and the Geisha the most, but the Musketeer, the punk (great hair!), the safety suit guy, the surfer girl and the skater also look great. I've never bought more than three figs of one series, but this may be an exception!

Good job! This MOC looks like the work of an expert builder. I like the shape of the house and the creative use of the bricks. I also like the scenery and the fact that it shows a little scene (not just a house). Great work!
  3. I opened mine already in October, but was able to stick to opening just one present a day. It was great fun, and I'm always surprised with the great quality of the content. I actually don't think lego makes that much profit on them given the content and the large quantity of minifigs included. It's more like a special treat for its fans. PS Regarding the plume and extras for the dark knight: every other set including one green plume, comes with one extra, so that's easily fixed. The overall deficit of Dragon knights is indeed a shame, but I guess that the upcoming wave will include more dragons, possibly even a dragon castle (that would be great!). Fingers crossed.
  4. Good to see that the theme is finally confirmed. Hopefully some preliminary pictures will be available soon!
  5. Having seen the pictures, I must say the figs have grown even more on me. Great to see that back printing appears in the collectable series (I especially like the gorilla suit zipper! ). The samurai torso and the Hula girls hair also look far better than expected. The Elf bow is also a nice surprise. All in all, it seems that my impression based on the preliminary pics seriously underestimated the coolness of the actual figs. Great job TLG
  6. Great news! I was pleasantly surprised by two things: 1. the new bow looks more different from the old one than I imagined from the preliminary pics (which makes the elf even more desirable) 2. The trousers of the 'Rapper' look great, and seem very useful for City mocs Overall I think I'm as satisfied with this series as with the others
  7. Interesting, but it's hard tpo judged them without pictures. With most figures in these series I like the accessories or the hairpieces and faces. So this is a "wait and see" for me. PS The viking and the musketeer sound good though.
  8. I never liked Atlantis in the past, but I actually think that these sets look really nice.
  9. Same here: the advent calender is top quality. It's an excellent set with great creative details. I hope the 2011 wave will be of the set quality.
  10. Good to see that they are moving to other countries. If they open a store in the Netherlands, I will probably spend zillions of euros there, so I'm still in dubio whether that is a good thing
  11. Good point about the sack It seems like the windmill could be a treasure of interesting parts. I'm confident that TLG put as much effort in this set as the MMV, so I'm pretty excited about what the result will be!
  12. That's simply amazing news! This will be a great addition to my medieval village.
  13. The real deal looks veery good. I love the detail and all the nice colours. Very nice MOC indeed!
  14. I agree with Skafte. I have creationary and Monsters $. Creationary is excellent to get other people interested in lego. I play it with a variety of people, mostly adults. It's fun and for me the lego part really has an added value. The smaller games loose their novelty fairly easy though. Best, K.
  15. one more medieval set is an option. In the advent calender, we get two citizens and a pig, similar to the castle line where we also got a civilian just before the MMV. Additionally, the MMV is still one of the top 25 sellers even one and a half year after its release. Hence, there is clearly some demand for it, though may be not amongst children there is at least a sufficient demand amongst the AFOL's for a decent mediveal village set.
  16. Great - though a bit too far for me. I'm also interested in the castle.. so I would love to see what the set is! Best, K.

Imprerssive MOC There are many nie details and I love how you mixed both old and new. Great creative work!
  18. Excellent fortress. It has a nostalgic feel, and though I like the newer medieval lego better, your use of clever building techniques makes this one a very nice MOC to loook at. Good job!
  19. Impressive set, great exclusive minifigs, Olivander's looks nice but especially Borgin and Burkes is truly amazing. A really big
  20. Nice review, thanks! Impressive set, albeit somewhat more difficult to mod for my medieval village, so I remain in dubio about whether to buy it. The figures are great. I am especially in love with Bellatrix (great hair, great torso!), though Ginny is a close second
  21. Yep I found that strange also. Is there any other lego fig that has fingers?
  22. I agree with the roof colour: the sand green would definitively given it a better look. Then again, it would probably still look rather bland I guess. Unfortunately, I don't have the pieces needed to modify it in that way, but I welcome (future) owners of the set to try it. In any case, here are the pics. I still had my modified version... ...But replaced the modified parts on this side with its original version. This side is not as bad as the side with the window, but it is still a bit too light bley for my taste. It looks like this: If you remove the light brick, you see the red technic piece, which is used to attach the light brick... I actually like the chimney. Especially the upper part is nice (four black round bricks with the dark bley piece added on). All in all, this side is a bit better in my opinion, though you should ignore the red piece attached to the light brick. Best, Kristof
  23. Thanks for all the nice comments! Actually during the writing of the review I fell more and more in love with the set. Now I've been modding the hut a bit. I wanted to give the roof the patchy feel as if Hagrid built the hut himself with leftover wood. I decided to keep one of the green bricks just for fun. This is the result: Aragog can also easily be improved by adding to bricks in order to extend the 'head' (I used a simple 2x1 piece and a short 2x2 roof-piece): In any case, all of this just to let show that this is the kind of set that actually inspires you to work with it. For Castle-lovers like myself it is definitively a useful addition that can feature in any medieval village with just a few modifications. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Best, Kristof
  24. Yep it is a nice face. I added a picture in the review. Best, K.
  25. Hey Guys, It seems that the Harry Potter sets are pouring over the Netherlands already. I just bought Hagrid's Hut. A perfect set to become my first review. Before I start, two disclaimers: this is my first Harry Potter set (ever) as I was in my dark ages when the former line was out there. Second, I mainly bought the hut to mod it and insert it in my medieval village. Hence I am mostly parts oriented and not so much about the Harry Potterness of the building. Let me start with the cast: We have Aragog, Hagrid, Ron, Hermoine en Harry along with Scabbers and a couple of spider youngsters. The two owls aren't included in the pic, they'll feature in and on the hut later on. Just the figs: All but Hagrid have back printing: All in all this is not bad. Surely, you only get four minifigs, which is rather little given its price. Ron in this form is exclusive to this set (though he is easily assembled by using parts of the other Ron in the Hogwarts Express and the uniform piece). Hagrid is really 'exclusive' if you only look at this year's sets. The added value probably lies in the high amount of animals (rat, three spiders, two owls and dragon whelp). I like Ron's face, and the hairpiece of the surfer dude is also great. As requested, here's a picture of Hagrid's face. To my knowledge the face is new and the torso is somewhat new as well. He's clearly a nice chap: Now about the hut itself. The good thing is that the interior is extremely well built and very very detailed. Every corner of the hut is stuffed with all kinds of extras and details. To mention just a few: there's an axe, a fish drying on the ceiling, a plate and glass, a plant, a letter, a hidden gem, and a baby dragon. Lastly, the light brick used to simulate the cozy fireplace is really a plus. In sum: the interior just looks great and finished. I won't have to do much modding there. Here you can see the dragon Whelp, the fish, the fireplace with the cauldron and some spices. I also like how the entrance includes the PoP colour. The steps are also nice. As I will show later on, from the outside it looks a bit less impressive. Now the fireplace has a light brick included. When I first noticed this on the box I was pleasantly surprised. It has the desired effect: The other side of the house is even better. On the picture below you can also take a look at the grey owl. I like the subtle details like the axe and the tea cup. Removing the upper side of the 'chair' exposes another compartment. It also shows the plant and a (sticker) painting on the wall. There is also a hidden gem and a letter... The bad thing is the exterior. The walls look kind of bland, and although TLG included some stickers to spice it up a little, I feel the overall look is still very concrete-like. Probably the stickers of the current Kingdoms line would look better, and even this would be second best as a just little more colour variation in the bricks would greatly improve the exterior. Here's the exterior folded open: I like the window, but nevertheless this is a particularly bland part on the side: The second reason why the exterior looks bad is the roof. It is half green and half bley. I actually dislike both colours, but especially the bley makes the roof and thereby the whole building look rather dull. This is definitely something I will MOD. From the outside the PoP colours look a bit odd, though the steps and the arch do look good. On this picture you can also get a good look at the great brown owl. Lastly, as already mentioned before, I like the parts selection in this set. There are also plenty of extras: Some other points: The mushrooms look just fantastic! The printed 'radar' tiles really do the job and give the result very much a Lego feel. The picture does not really do them justice, but nevertheless: The new owls versus the old owls: In this set you get a brown and a grey owl. They are absolutely wonderful! The printing is simply superb. The mould is also different than the old one: it is more blocky and less detailed (e.g. the old ones had more feathers), but the printing and the more blocky shape actually make the new owls more lego-like and at the same time more detailed (I have an old white owl, and to be honest, the detailed shape just was hardly noticeable) In real life, Aragog is little better than on pictures, as the printed tiles really look nice. However, the 'head' is still too much cramped onto the body. Overall, this is still a rather ugly version of Aragog. Moreover, most of the pieces used to build him are useless for moccing. Still not okay (look at his forehead ): My Ratings: Pieces: 9,5/10 - The set has excellent pieces, such as two owls, two mushrooms, three pumpkins, a light-brick, lots of nice brown pieces, some PoP-coloured and some tan pieces. Minifigures: 7/10 - Four minifigs is rather little for a set of this price. Only Hagrid is exclusive, but he featured plenty of times in previous years. This set is definitively not a minifigs set. Build: 8/10 – Nothing spectacular, but given the variety in the two parts of the hut it was certainly not boring and I was amazed with all the details that kept popping up along the building process. Price: 7,5/10 – I paid 45.35 euros, which is fairly expensive. But it’s Harry Potter, so that is to be expected. Final product: 8/10 – I’m really in love with the interior and the mushrooms, the pumpkins and the owls. It needs some modding, but it’s a bit like the Kingdoms Black Tower: it does not feel finished, but somehow I love it. Would I recommend this set? The set is fairly expensive and does not feel finished, but nevertheless I would say yes. Overall it is certainly good. It is the cheapest set for the owls, which is an advantage, and the interior is excellent. The set includes a good amount of rare and useful pieces and well... the mushrooms and the owls are just great! Best, K. Bonus: this is what happens if you mess with the best sorcerer of her age...
