  1. They work very well and look great! I know some of the older rubber Friends hair molds look weird on normal minifigures but these ones look good. It seems in recent years they've made more of an effort to make them compatible between minifigures and minidolls which is much appreciated and I'm glad they're no longer rubber.
  2. Picked up all the sets and they're actually quite nice. While I'll always prefer minifigures, LEGO has definitely stepped up their game with the minidolls and I'm happy with them. Overall though I still find it strange for them to be strictly targeting towards very young girls considering all the adult Wicked fans and even TWOZ fans who would love detailed Oz-related builds. Surely an 18+ Emerald City or Munchkinland would sell well.
  3. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by these sets! While it's not at all what I was expecting or hoping for from LEGO Wicked, I think they are solid builds and I plan to get them all. The buildable figures in particular are excellent, and I love seeing something new from LEGO in this regard. I could see this style carrying over to the Disney Princess line which I think would be great. Of course I would prefer minifigures, but I've gotten over it and I'll enjoy the minidolls for what they are. Hopefully for Part 2 we'll get another wave and maybe even an 18+ set with minifigures. LEGO seems to be trying a lot of new things here and providing a lot of variety so it would be a welcome surprise.
  4. LEGO just teased on their Instagram story something Wicked related coming tomorrow so looks like we'll be getting our first look at the sets. Excited to see what they've cooked up!
  5. My only hope is that we also get an 18+ set with minifigures down the line like The Little Mermaid remake did. Minidolls are fine, but why not make sets with normal minifigures as well? Surely an Oz-themed set with minifigures would be incredibly popular. I understand making minidolls since this is a female-centric property, but it's just frustrating when we're not even given an alternative. Why does it have to be one or the other? I'm just hoping the sets are at least on par with some of the recent Friends stuff rather than the very simplistic Disney Princess line.
  6. After seeing a bunch of reviews I'm sold on these sets. Even though they're rather simple they're so charming and I'm in love with the minifigures! I plan on buying the whole wave this weekend. This theme definitely could benefit from a minifigure series since there's so many characters and basically each requires a new mold. Hope that's something they consider in the future.
  7. That is a massive disappointment if they indeed are minidolls. I get that Wicked skews more female, but girls like normal minifigures too! Only hope is if we get a larger D2C set with normal minifigures as well like the live-action Little Mermaid did.
  8. Very excited for this! Been looking forward to this movie for a basically my whole life and I'm overjoyed that we're getting it in LEGO as well! I would assume the two largest sets are the Emerald City and Shiz, and the smaller sets could be Munchkinland with Glinda in her bubble or the Ozdust Ballroom scene. Since it's split into two movies we'll probably get another wave next year as well. So much potential, I'm thrilled!
  9. Saw the film a few nights ago and had a good time! Definitely lacks the magic of the originals, but that was expected since Spielberg didn't come back to direct this one. Definitely so many missed opportunities for sets and I'm really sad none were made. With the film seemingly not doing particularly well at the box office, I don't see them ever making any sets in the future. Next year is Temple of Doom's 40th anniversary though, so I'm hoping we get another wave to celebrate that, like how Jurassic Park got an anniversary wave this year.
  10. The castle looks nice but just no reason for me to pick it up since I own the 2016 version. I'm sure I'll get it at some point and the minifigures are great, but it's a pass for now. I just wish all the princesses were a lot easier to collect instead of being spread across multiple minifigures series and sets over several years. :/
  11. Wow, these constraction figures are horrendous. Even the 2012 ones look way better than these. This system just doesn't work for human characters or any characters that show their face. I can't imagine a kid wanting this over a proper action figure from Hasbro. How did this get approved?
  12. These sets look great! I understand wanting to focus on Green Hill for the first wave, so the lack of variety in location doesn't bother me too much. Having only four characters across four sets is disappointing though, so Knuckles better be in that last set. With. the lack of minifigures I don't have to buy every set to get all the characters, so that's a good thing at least.
  13. This whole situation is so odd, but it definitely seems to be a Disney/Lucasfilm decision. Across the board there is not much merchandise for the new film but a heavy emphasis on the original trilogy, with most new merchandise being based on Raiders. Unless we get a surprise D2C like The Little Mermaid did I guess that confirms that's all we're getting this year. Oh well. :/
  14. I think the odd decision is to make this a large scale 18+ set rather than something more affordable. Merchandise for this movie is already selling out like crazy, so it's weird to me that LEGO would produce something so expensive since I think the people that would be most interested won't be too willing to shell out so much for this set (no pun intended) when they could've done a smaller set or even a range of sets that people could purchase more casually. This movie will certainly hit a billion or at least come close to it like all the other remakes, and people would love something with the new Ariel, but the price might deter them.
  15. Definitely now think that leaked Snow White's Cottage set could very well be based on the remake if it's set for 2024. I actually enjoy the remakes for what they are so I welcome these sets, but I would also like some classic sets too! We need a full range based on the animated films and not just large 18+ sets.
