  1. Another nice build from you, Mesabi. Despite your limited collection, your builds continue to improve and you're getting pretty good at making few pieces go a long way (for example, with the roof). If you are serious about making additional maps, I'd suggest you consider using Inkscape. It's a free program with a reasonably low learning curve and plenty of tutorials. It's far more versatile than paint. If you need examples, it was used for all of Oleon's medals, flags, and maps as well as the coat of arms Bregir has for his King's Harbor ball promotion.
  2. That is quite an amusing story. As for the build, it's good and I know you have a limited collection, but I think there are some areas that could be improved. The path, for example, could use some random bricks and tiles to represent cobblestones, even if they're imperfect. Simple things like this don't require specialized pieces, but can really help improve builds. Oleon. And yes, all builds are appreciated.
  3. Another fine frigate from you, Bodi. The stern designs, especially the fleur, are especially nice, and it appears that you included plenty of important features to keep this ship shipshape and Bristol fashion. It looks like you've also started to spend a bit more time on the rigging. Not that there is anything wrong with simpler rigging, but it does look nicer. My only concern is with what appears to be a crazed alcoholic somewhere near the bow.
  4. The offset 16x16 plate is a unique touch, and I may have to copy it to create buildings at an angle. I also like the surveying equipment, but I can't tell what the round piece is you used for the tripod.
  5. Subjects of the Brick Seas, The RNTC is pleased to announce that it's First Year Annual Report and Financial Statements are finalized and approved for public release. You can find the report and ask related questions in the RNTC topic. Vive le Roi et Pour la Prospérité!
  6. Subjects of the Brick Seas, The RNTC is pleased to announce that it's First Year Annual Report and Financial Statements are finalized and approved for public release. To ensure market transparency, unless otherwise stated, questions should be asked in this thread. You can find the report here. Vive le Roi et Pour la Prospérité!
  7. I've been admiring this build for a few days now, and my appreciation for this build hasn't diminished in the slightest. The colors you selected work well together, and the exterior of the building is very clean and well-presented. Your interior is very impressive, and I have spent quite a bit of time admiring all the details the interior has to offer. I think the main structure would look better if it has a roof similar to that of the wings, but that is a small matter.
  8. If the values are off by a few DBs, it could be due to rounding. Oleon also has licensing and income taxes which will result in slightly higher costs and slightly lower yields. Lavalette is the only settlement to be exempt from the taxation.
  9. GBW- CP5 - FILACE – Behind Enemy Lines 3/8 In Position The action hereby depicted takes place at the same time than episode 4/8 (Sigpro). Grid E8 It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The sniper team lay in the cold, the pure white snow falling around them. For the past week, the team had moved slowly through the freezing, snowy mountains of Xenor, facing near blizzard conditions, hypothermia, and of course hostiles. Their progress was slow, since they were forced to travel by night and had to take precautions to ensure they left no tracks, but at last they reached the small mountain overlooking the Xenor air-defense station. They had already been waiting for almost a day, nervously chatting to cover their fears of being found by a Xenor patrol and anxious for the operation to fully commence. It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Suddenly the spotter's communication headset came to life. "REDEYE, this is TIZONA" The spotter turned his mic on and replied. "Roger, TIZONA, this is REDEYE." "We are in range, proceed. Repeat, we are in range, proceed." "Affirmative, TIZONA. Will proceed. REDEYE out." PHOTO 2: The sniper team preparing. "Go?" Asked the other soldier. It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Yea" replied the spotter as he quickly rubbed his hands together and picked up his spotting equipment. "Range, 220... wind, 2.5 north-north west..." the soldier continued as the gunner quietly adjusted the scope and his aim. "You make this shot and the next round is on me," the spotter said, receiving a muted grunt in reply. For several seconds nothing happened, with only the occasional gust of wind creating any noise. The sniper silently making miniscule adjustments to his equipment, the spotter as still as a statute keeping an eye out with his equipment. Suddenly, three cracks rang out as the sniper fired, two shots striking the satellite's antenna with a third harmlessly hitting the dish. It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Hit" the sniper said as he turned his aim to the base's fence, looking for any signs of a counter attack. “TIZONA, this is REDEYE, enemy radar temporarily disabled”. “REDEYE, roger. RWR shows no threat. I climb and prepare for bomb run”. As the sniper continued to scan for any approaching hostiles, the spotter turned his targeting laser to the SAM battery. The two men sat their in silence, their adrenaline rushing knowing that every second it took TIZONA to complete its mission meant an extra second they didn't have to begin escaping. And even Xenor's third-rate soldiers wouldn't take more than a few minutes to begin sending out patrols. The seconds turned to minutes, the minutes seemingly stretching for an eternity, when suddenly the SAM open fired. "Oh, shit," swore the spotter. Keeping the laser aimed at the target, he turned on his mic. "TIZONA, missiles inbound, missiles inbound. They're shooting at you" the spotter exclaimed with just a hint of excitement in his otherwise calm demeanor. For a few tense moments, there was nothing but static. "Missiles evaded, repeat, missiles evaded." But just as the spotter was about to congratulate the pilot, two massive explosions rocked the SAM battery. "Damn, and I thought we had nerves of steel," said the spotter as he examined the burning wreckage. "Stayed in his dive with SAMs inbound." It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "That's stupid, not brave." said the sniper as he quickly packed their equipment. "Yea, well it get's the job done" the spotter replied. Then into the mic, "TIZONA, target destroyed, target destroyed." "Roger that, REDEYE, extract as planned. Good luck down there. TIZONA, out." Without bothering to reply, the spotter helped pack the equipment, and the two soldiers moved out to the extract point. It takes two by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Additional Shots of the whole build:
  10. @Legostone Can you also fix the ownership for the Nerdy Mermaid?
  11. Quite a bit. You may consider making the uniform consistent with the timer period and your faction's colors (a green coat on a Corrish officer would be strange), but there are no serious limitations. You are required to start out with custom MOCs. All ships in this game are custom, and there is no maximum size limit. You may not be able to afford licensing an 80-gun ship, but there is nothing stopping you from building it, having your character sail around in it (strictly for your story, no MCRA benefits), and then ultimately licensing it when the time is right. Your faction leaders should be able to help you more. Character progression is a good thing and encouraged, but there are no rules requiring it. You do need DBs (the in-game currency) to license troops, ships, and properties. Private militaries are likely to be determined on a faction-by-faction basis, but I think most factions would permit you to raise your own troops provided you don't go starting any wars. WTC=Wayfarer Trade Company. One of several trade companies in the game. Others include RNTC, ETTC, MAESTRO, and MCTC (I think I forgot one or two). OOC=Out-of-character IC=In-character The last two are used to help determine when a response is your character's reaction or your personal reaction.
  12. @LM71Blackbird Welcome, and I hope you find the right faction for you. Let us know if you have any further questions.
  13. I wouldn't worry about running out of room in BOBS. Regardless if your projection is right or wrong, there is plenty of space, discovered and undiscovered, to explore and develop. I also wouldn't expect any information on latitude and longitude as that could give away the total size of the map (I could be wrong on this). I am confident that the map will slowly be revealed by player actions, challenges, etc. as the game progresses.
  14. As Bregir stated, everyone who works with BOBS does so voluntarily. Things can be forgotten or overlooked, and occasionally a polite reminder is needed. I don't think anyone is blaming you for not knowing about this rule. Let's leave this thread for discussing Kotz's build. If there are any further concerns about the rules or a personal matter, please use the general topic or PMs.
  15. Back in Kings Port: The Order cannot be offended. A junior officer can meet with the local authorities to ensure the paperwork is in order, but nothing short of Hollande's presence would be acceptable to the Order. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr Hollande and his companions quickly reached the massive Temple of Poseidon. Only a few blocks away from the wharf, the marble-covered dome towered over the city. After explaining their purpose to a guard, they were escorted through various gates and halls until they reached a large room with a pool in the center. The guide instructed Hollande to wait and then left to find the priest. Hollande began inspecting every inch of the room with childish curiosity while his two companions simply prayed that Hollande would at least appear professional before the priests arrived. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr But their prayers fell on deaf ears. Just as Hollande was jumping to try and get a better view out the window, a door opened and several priests entered, escorted by several guards. The guards took up positions around the room, Hollande returned to his companions, and the priests approached. "Your excellency," Hollande said to the High Priest of Poseidon with a bow. "I hope the Anemoi blessed your voyage more than they blessed our town," the High Priest replied, referencing the recent hurricane. "But seeing your lack of ships, I fear that is not the case." "The Anemoi blessed our sails and Poseidon our hulls," continued Hollande, his two companions simply shocked by the proper response. "But, your excellency," Hollande continued "I fear that I must disappoint you. I know not for what purpose your boorish and ill-mannered cleric requested my presence here, but it is my task, not yours which must be given priority." "You would presume to dictate priorities to the Order?" the priest cold replied. It was not every day someone showed such contempt for the Order, and those that did rarely lived long. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Eh, not quite," said Hollande as he fumbled around in his jacket for something. One of Hollande's companions pulled something out of his jacket and stood behind Hollande with a polite cough. "Hm? Oh, that's right, you have it! I'm much obliged, Michaels. I believe this will clarify the present situation," Hollande victoriously declared as he handed the paper to the High Priest. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr The High Priest's eyes widened at the sight of Lord Calida's seal on the parchement. He carefully opened it, read the contents, and then turned to the priests besides him. They stood there, gravely muttering for a few minutes, examining every inch of the document and discussing its contents. With a resigned sigh, the High Priest turned to Hollande. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "How did you obtain this document?" "Lord Vele had enough foresight to provide it to me before our departure." "These orders are not at all what I expected." "And I sincerely hope this does not inconvenience your plans, but you will see that Lord Calida requires you to how did he put it, 'extend all courtesy and assistance with the mission," Hollande smugly replied. It wasn't everyday the RNTC got to give the Order orders, much less a High Priest. "Only an imbecile could conceive such a plan, and I doubt the Lord Chancellor signed this willingly." "The paper is authentic, and as much as I would love to discuss Court politics with you, I fear I have more pressing matters." The High Priest took a deep breath, turned to the green-clad Cleric, and declared "handle this" before storming out, leaving only the sole priest and Hollande's group. Meeting at the Temple by Capt. Genaro, on Flickr "Artemis?" Hollande asked referring to the green-priest's garb. The priest nodded. "I didn't know your community had a presence beyond Boussac." "I go where my superiors send me, but as you said sir, we have more pressing matters." "Of course, of course. Now, I don't mean to seem rude, but you read Calida's letter. Woudn't one of Hades' spies be better suited for this? The one that came to my ship, perhaps?" At this the priest grinned. "You fear that the High Priest does this to sabotage you." After a brief pause to enjoy the look of surprise on Hollande's face, the priest continued. "No, no. This is not a job for assassins. This is a job for a huntress." The priest pulled out a pencil and some parchment from his robes and began writing. "What in Zeus' name is the difference, a huntress versus an assassin?" Hollande whispered to one of his companions who simply shrugged. The priest turned to Hollande and handed him the paper. "Follow these directions, meet these people, and I think you will find the skills of the huntress to be far more valuable." OOC: If you re-read the first post, you will see that Lord Vele did in fact obtain a document with Lord Calida's seal for Hollande. Also, thank you all for your comments. I am pleased to see that you are enjoying our builds and stories.
  16. Very nice build. The curved stairs leading up to the building are nice, and I you did a nice job making the building look Oleandish. The SNOT bricks on the side of the building are just enough to make it look imperfect, but not decrepit. I wish your figs all the best as they set out. In regards to the licensing, Bregir is right. Long before this build, it was established that government buildings are generally considered arts and culture. It may not be a perfect fit, but that was the determination reached by the Court as a whole, not one individual. If the rules are not updated to reflect this determination, that will be corrected shortly.
  17. @Mjazzw7 We're always happy to have new players join BOBS, but it looks like you are trying to create a new faction. Players are required to start in one of the four existing factions. From there, players can build MOCs to develop fleets and armies. Please read the introduction and quick start guide to learn more about the BOBS game and world. Furthermore, we ask that you give credit when using other people's images and builds. Using a picture as inspiration is perfectly acceptable, but credit should be given to the original designer. If you have any further questions, please ask them in the general introduction topic.
  18. One can always dream. You are asking if it's possible to fight against your own faction, right? That's how I read it and that's how I was responding. If you're asking if it's possible to fight with (use) troops from your faction to support your efforts, the answer is yes as long as you include them in the AMCRA form.
  19. Nicely done, Bregir. A simple build, but as Captain Aubrey Cooke knows, there is no substitute for well-drilled gunners. I think a SNOT sky would look better, but it's still a nice, clean presentation.
  20. Several faction leaders and support leaders are handling non-player factions. There is no official process to expel members, but if the situation became that serious the Court and the leaders of the faction in question would reach a solution. Players are able to switch factions (but be warned there are EGS penalties), and I have to imagine this would happen before expulsion. The Brethren Court (all the faction leaders and support leaders). So far this has not been a major issue. If you feel that there are issues, please inform a faction or support leader, and they can ensure the concern is addressed by the Court. I would imagine so (not an authoritative answer), but be warned that the faction would likely strike back by seizing properties, ships, DBs, etc. That said, don't let me get in the way of a Corrie civil war.
  21. It's great to see these fantastic troops in action. The poses are very good, especially for the soldier about to break down the door. The story is well written, and looks like the beginnings of a fun adventure. The window in the wall is a little too low in my opinion, but other than that the build looks excellent.
  22. Oleon does not have a public policy on dealing with natives. That said, the settlement of Fatu Hiva shows Oleon and natives living and working together side-by-side. In it's description, the RNTC notes that it will use native forces, similar to the sepoys in India, though these have not yet been depicted. In Dragonstone, Brandon Stark stated that Oleon and the natives were initially violent towards each other, but ultimately reached an alliance with each other. Some other factions have depicted Oleon as being brutal towards natives, but I write this off as artistic license.
  23. Thank you, Duke. I always like it when I stumble upon the perfect minifig head for a scene. Harsh? Sir, you haven't begun to see harsh. But I'm still glad you like it. No spiderwebs, just glare from the lighting, but I am glad it looks okay. Thank you for the comment. Thank you very much. Hopefully this authoritarian gesture helps put the fear of the gods and the law back into people. Tyranny? Such language I would expect from a lawless pirate, but for a Corrie to consider the enforcement of laws tyranny comes as quite a surprise. I am glad you like the soldiers dumbing the goods into the harbor. Those have to be my favorite pics, too. I wasn't so sure about the ball connectors, but I'm glad to get some vindication on their use. Thank you, sir. The texturing can take a while, and I'm glad it paid off. I'm glad you like it. Thank you. Err, that's pure coincidence. Yes! Purely a coincidence. Thank you very much. Don't worry about stealing the roof design as I doubt I'm the first to use it. Yes, that is a lady-pirate torso from the 90's. I got it from a garage sale, and I'm not sure if the head and hair are the proper match (but it works for me).
  24. An interesting development to be sure. Hopefully Sinbad knows what he's doing by surrendering himself to the authorities. You have a nice, clean MOC with all the necessary components. The walls could use a bit more detail, but overall it's a solid build.
  25. I actually think the exterior looks fine. Perhaps not the fanciest building in the Brick Seas, but the classic-Lego design looks fine to me. And the bay windows look really nice. Nice job with the interior, too. You included all the necessary equipment and supplies, and you did a nice job illustrating the printing process.
