Unexplored markets
Leewan replied to astral brick's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingMaybe Forma didn't sell well, but Lego haven't given up on kinetic sculptures yet since they'll be releasing soon a brick-built version of Hedwig with a crank that makes the wings flap :

42115 - Lamborghini Sian FKP 37
Leewan replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI don't know about the real-life one, but if the Lego Sian is convertible it would be a nice way to bring something new to the UCS Supercar line and differentiate it from the Porsche and the Bugatti. As long as it's a proper function and not something you activate by inserting a key into a hole in the side of the car.

[TC18] Dune Buggy 2020 - Instructions available
Leewan replied to Didumos69's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think it's better that way. I prefer a well-built model without opening doors over a model that has opening doors but is more flimsy, and your model already seems to be really fun to play with, so opening doors aren't really necessary.

General Part Discussion
Leewan replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIndeed, but I didn't mention them since they're already available in 75276. Well, they're still new for this year.

[MOC] Carnotaurus
Thank you @Merlict. The baseplate was initially quite plain, but a friend of mine suggested me to add a bit of colour. It looks more natural that way. The tree stump was a good way to repurpose the new cake icing element, but my favourite detail would be the - barely visible - prehistoric mouse.

Future Constraction Sets?
It's not the same thing. I should have been more precise perhaps. I rather wondered if there were enough constraction fans that would buy several sets from a constraction theme and make it profitable. Among the 10000 people who voted for Sokoda's project, some may not care for constraction in general, but only Bionicle. And those people supported one single system model, which they may not even buy if it becomes a set. Sure, it's promising, it means there are still people who care for Bionicle. But I don't think it means a new constraction theme would be successful, unfortunately. And, side note, although it was still CUUSOO at the time, the fastest project to get 10k was Purdue Pete. Ninjago only had two pilot episodes in its first year. On the other hand, Hero Factory had a TV show in its first year. I don't know how much it helped. But anyway, I think you and @Nuju44 give too much importance to advertising (that's what the TV shows are, sure they tell a story, but they're here to sell sets above all) and forget that the issue may simply be that people don't care enough for the product itself.

Future Constraction Sets?
If we don't see them in sets, it's safe to assume they're out of production, but that doesn't necessarily mean they got rid of the moulds. I wouldn't count on that either. I'd just be happy if this set gets made. If there's more after that, good, if not, I won't be mad. Bionicle G2 did have that. They can do whatever they want and spend an infinite amount of money on advertising, if no one wants to buy constraction sets, it will be useless. Now perhaps the Innovation Intake Portal could be a good way to let Lego know there's still demand for more constraction ? Perhaps crowdfunding (like Forma or Bricklink's AFOL Designer Program) could be a way to make sure they could do constraction sets and actually make money from them ? But are there enough constraction fans left anyways ?

Future Constraction Sets?
It's not the same plastic. You can read more about it here : http://www.newelementary.com/2018/07/sustainable-lego-plants-made-from-sugarcane.html The plastic made from sugarcane is polyethylene, the plastic used by constraction parts is polycarbonate. Polycarbonate is made from Bisphenol A, which may be an endocrine disruptor. Hence Faber's concerns, I guess. With that being said, there are still plenty of non-constraction parts made from PC, so Lego hasn't completely stopped using it. Perhaps, once they find a suitable replacement, constraction parts could come back ? I don't have a lot of hope for that, though, and I think that the chances that Faber manages to effectively launch his 2020 version of BIONICLE are higher than the chances of seeing a new constraction theme.

[MOC] Carnotaurus
Hi, I've recently completed my latest MOC, a carnotaurus : It measures about 40cm / 16in long, 18 cm / 7 in tall, and is made of about 680 parts. The baseplate has a diameter of 18cm / 7in, and is made of about 350 parts. I've built a first dinosaur - an ankylosaurus - about a year and half ago, and started working on the carnotaurus at that time. I ultimately turned it into a spinovenator for LEGO IDEAS' hybrid dinosaur contest, and decided to build it it with physical parts after that. You can see more photos of it on flickr.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Leewan replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI like Olive Green too, so on one hand, I'm glad we're getting more of it, but on the other, I'm not sure it's the best shade for a supercar.

[C-MODEL] 42094 - Snow Groomer
Leewan replied to Tomik's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWow, I had the very same idea earlier today ! What a coincidence. I doubt I could do as well as you, though. Actually, your C-model seems to be even better than the A and B model. Good job.

42110 - Land Rover Defender - MODs and Improvements
Leewan replied to BrickWild's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHappy to help, even if that was a meager contribution. I think I'll take the Defender apart to build @grohl's Stadium Truck, and after that I'll build the V1.3 of the pimped up Defender.

Armor ideas for a Hero Factory 1.0 Arm?
If you have it, a simple solution would be to use the 2015 Master add-on.

LEGO Creator Expert 10271 Fiat 500
The front and rear fenders aren't parallel to the doors, which is why there's a small gap. Or, put differently, the car is wider in the middle than at the front and rear. Probably just one extra stud. So the car should actually be 13 studs wide. New for this year, but it's already available in 10272 Old Trafford. Same for the windscreen.

42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey
Leewan replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWith four gearbox-controlled functions, it looks like this will be the most interesting set of the wave (or even of the year) from a mechanical standpoint.

42107 - Ducati Panigale V4R
Leewan replied to Ngoc Nguyen's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingThank you. The new elements sound interesting. So there's only the usual functions you see on Lego bikes, no gearbox ? Anyways, I'm looking forward to this set.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Leewan replied to dimaks13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingWhat if 42113 is a pneumatic set ? Or perhaps the codename "Air" isn't a hint at all and it's not a pneumatic set or an aircraft. Anyways, I'm looking forward for more information.

[TC17] Mad Nomad - Finished
Leewan replied to Didumos69's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingLooks much better (and more Mad Max-esque) that way.
