  1. The gold mask did have the symbols (see here), but the MoCr displayed at the NYTF is a 3d printed prototype, it's possible that some details are missing because of that. The symbols seem to be present on the boxart, so I guess the final molded mask will have them too.
  2. No, but we got pearl light gray, which is close enough, although it's brighter.
  3. It's a matter of taste, unique doesn't necessarily mean good.
  4. Unlike Boba, Jango Fett fought Obi-Wan Kenobi, which is also part of the line-up (okay, it's CW Obi-Wan, but it's the same character). I think kids would be more likely to buy Jango than Boba so they can recreate the fight between him and Kenobi. Same goes for Cody, he was there when Obi-Wan fought Grievous on Utapau, which means kids who get him will be able to recreate the scene.
  5. Thanks for your comments guys. As TDC explained, it's impossible to put this on Ideas, so all we have to do is cross our fingers and wait for Lego to produce something similar. Use this, and tadaaa, you have your horizontal bar. :D Like this ? :P
  6. Promobricks said that Boba would be part of the line, but Toyark mentioned Jango instead.
  7. I know, I said that because you talked about fans who would hate a "CCBSified" EF reboot, but such a thing is very different from Star Wars' current (or future, we're talking about upcoming sets) situation, where only a small portion of the whole range will be made of CCBS. That's what I was actually pointing (or trying to point ) : the difference between having CCBS in system lines (like the Star Wars Ultrabuilds range, which exists beside the Star Wars system range) and totally turning a system line into a CCBS line (like your EF example).
  8. But they're not making only CCBS Star Wars sets, there is also a lot of System sets this year. Star Wars will never become a pure constraction theme, unlike EF, where the buildable mechs (whether they're system or CCBS) is the main focus of the theme. BTW, there are a few CCBS parts in the Hulkbuster, and I don't recall having seen much hate expressed about it, although I could be totally wrong.
  9. Set name : Hero Pack Set number : 5002941 Pieces : 9 Price : Free (Gift with purchase in Lego Stores and on the s@h) Release date : February 1-14 (Europe) / March 1-20 (North America) Links : brickset / bricklink / flickr gallery Packaging : The set is a polybag, so the package is obviously... a bag. There are two dents on the right side, to facilitate the opening. The front of the bag shows its content (a double-sided poster, a sticker sheet, a booklet, a dark blue Skull Spider, and, of course, the star of the set, the trans-neon orange Mask of Fire) over a fiery background (probably lava). We also can see a column, and a pedestal, similar to those on which the Golden Masks were found by the Toa. The most notable thing about the bag, which many of you must have noticed, is that it doesn't use the final Mask of Creation design as a logo, but an earlier version, that was seen on the pictures which leaked last July. The reason for this change is unknown. Okoto is definitely an island full of mysteries... The back shows various warnings and production and distribution information, over a rocky background. Content : Once you open the bag, you find the poster (folded, of course), the booklet, the sticker sheet (of which I'll soon provide scans), and a small bag which contains the parts. The poster is double-sided : one side shows the Master's Masks (and their set numbers, so kids will know which set to buy to get them), and the other one is a map of Okoto, with the Golden Masks' locations. Surprisingly, the Mask of Stone looks reddish brown on the packaging, and almost dark red on the actual poster. The booklet starts with a shorter version of Tahu's comic. Then there are instructions for the Skull Spider, and a double page showing the six Toa. Mysteriously, Gali and Onua don't have a colored halo around their names and titles like the other ones. You can see the other pages in the flickr album. The sticker sheet is... glittering. That's some seriously fabulous stuff, kids. The Skull Spider is your regular Skull Spider, nothing different from usual, which is a bit disappointing. A red, purple, or even glow in the dark Spider would have been more interesting. The Mask of Fire is undoubtedly the most interesting part of the "set", and it's a beautiful part, halfway between the NYCC exclusive translucent mask and the regular red mask that comes with Tahu. Conclusion : The Mask of Fire is with no doubt the highlight of this polybag, it's a beautiful part. The poster is nice too, especially the map of Okoto. The rest of the content, though, is frankly uninteresting, and the Skull Spider could have been in an exclusive color too, but let's remember this set is mainly addressed to the people who don't know BIONICLE (for example the comic in the booklet is a very good way to tell people what's the purpose of the mask and the spider which comes in the polybag), and should help them to discover its universe.
  10. Agreed. They chose to make RotJ Luke so kids will be able to recreate the final fight with Vader. But because of that, the color scheme is extremely bland (only black, yay, but it could have been worse, at least he doesn't have bley bones), and Luke being a basic human, the build is very simple, which makes the set simply boring. I was expecting worse for the head, though. On the contrary, DV looks very good. The build seems quite interesting (I've spotted a few system parts on FBTB's pictures, and I noticed that his legs are attached to a XT4 torso put upside-down), and he's really impressive. And the helmet is gorgeous. Speaking of new parts, I'm not a huge fan of the new leg armors, but I expect Cody and Obi-Wan to have them in white, and I think they'll look better in white than in black.
  11. More or less : the second last page clearly mentions HF's end, so it was indeed officially stated, but not publicly announced like G1's end in 2010.
  12. So they'll be released in September and not in October ? That's great ! BTW, I hope they will allow photos at the NYTF.

Love it, and I love even more the fact that it's a pure CCBS build. This is impressive.
  14. No, the glitch was almost immediately fixed, so there aren't many people who were able to exploit it. And hundreds, maybe thousands (that wouldn't surprise me) of orders are made every day on the s@h, which means hundreds / thousands of Hero Packs are distributed every day. Compared to this, the 30, or 50, or even 100 packs that were bought via the glitch represent nothing.
  15. I think it's to emphasize the fact that they get more powerful. If they were shown using their elemental powers before getting the golden masks, kids could have been confused about what the golden masks' purpose is. They wanted to make the difference clearly visible, methinks.

Thanks for your comments ! It's certainly my favourite part of the MOC too. I started with the head, and when I saw a cocoon on my desk, I knew I had to use its parts as wings, because they were perfect, color-wise and shape-wise. Haha, I doubt they'd be as popular as Tom Poulsom's MOCs.
  17. My latest MOC. I think I'm starting to understand why Warhead loves Mixel eyes so much. (flickr)

Really ? O.o I never knew that, I'll definitely have to try this technique ! Thanks, Brickthing !
  19. They're actually official pics, I saw them on the Hero Pack's product page, and managed to get the hi-res version from Lego's server.

The cartoony proportions make the character adorable. This is brilliant, Sparky. But how are the 1*2 dark tan plates (on the legs) attached ? Are they even attached, or are they just sitting here ?
  21. Found hi-res pictures of the Hero Pack, if anyone's interested (click to see in full size (4000*3000)) : It gives us a nice closeup of the prototype MoCr.
  22. Plot twist : Gali dies. :U (Because Kopaka slipped (even if he says he didn't), she tried to help him and was killed by Skull Scorpio) Anyways, I'm sure the lack of a gold+trans Mask of Fire will be explained in the story : one of the confidential prelim pics showed Tahu, wearing his golden mask, and Ekimu fighting Grinder. So if the baddies did indeed take the masks from the other Toa, this pic shows that it isn't the case for at least Tahu.

On the contrary, I think it's a good choice, since all the four humanoid summer villains have some red on their chestpiece (it is supposed to represent muscles ?). It makes the MOC fit the gang even better.
