LEGO Ideas Support Thread: Bionicle
I think so, and I'd tend to agree with that. System-made mechs are more Sci-Fi than constraction, so it would make more sense to show them in the Sci-Fi subforum. With that being said, there's a gray area. What if a mecha uses both system and CCBS parts, like the Infinity War Hulkbuster 76104 ? And in which proportions ? The Sidereal Giant uses a veast majority of System parts, so I'd say it's much more of a Sci-Fi MOC than a Constraction MOC. In the end, I'd say it just depends on one's appreciation.

42110 - Land Rover Defender - MODs and Improvements
Leewan replied to BrickWild's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI've recently built the pimped up version, but with a few changes. Using a 8T gear after the central diff makes all of the gears in the transmission spin really fast, and make the vehicle hard to push in 1st and reverse gears, because of the induced resistance. So I paired the central diff with a 16T gear instead (the change was made at step 24 of the rear block in the instructions), and geared up the engine with a 24T/8T pair (steps 3 and 4 of the DNR / Hi-Lo module).

Grohl's Creations
Leewan replied to grohl's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingNice ! I particularly like the way you've built the suspension setup and the lever to control the gearbox. That's a clever idea.

LEGO Creator 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
From what I understand it would be an "old" car, just like the Charger in the Speed Champions set 75893. With that being said, I don't think a Creator Expert 1970 Dodge Charger would be a good idea right now : such a set would be too similar to the Mustang. I rather see it being made in Technic, with a bodywork similar to the set 41999.

[REVIEW] 42101 - Buggy
Thanks for the review. It's a lovely little set, and it's nice to see that Bright Light Orange is already used in another Technic set after the Crawler. Just got a question : when the spring is fully compressed, does the 5M beam used for the steering touch the ground ?

[MOC] 1:8 McLaren 720S w/ Instructions
Leewan replied to Charbel's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHere's mine : This is really a great MOC. It's superb, thanks to the clever use of panels and their precise positioning. It happened to me several times to wonder what I was building because there were parts at weird angles in several directions, only to finally attach a panel and realize the purpose of the assembly I'd just build. But there's not just the looks, the functions too have been polished : the steering is very smooth, and the engine runs easily, at all speeds. It truly is a cleverly designed model, but then there's the cherry on top, what makes it a masterpiece : the modularity. It adds a lot to the building experience, and it makes the MOC even more pleasing to manipulate : yes, you can drive it, switch speeds, open the doors, frunk, raise the rear wing... but you can also easily remove the bodywork to see the chassis naked, or take the rear section out to get a good look at the gearbox, and re-assemble everything in a handful of minutes. Thank you, Charbel.

LEGO BrickHeadz 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
If it's true, then I'm really curious about how they made Pluto and Buckbeak. Also, I wonder if Hagrid will be a standard sized BrickHead or if he will be bigger (a bit like this MOC of mine). 40419 sounds like a Hogwarts-themed GoBrickMe set, if that's the case it could be another nice parts pack.

Bionicle/CCBS pieces back on Bricks and Pieces
That's my feeling as well. Doesn't sound too good for the future. Still, hopefully I'll be able to put my hands on some of those parts once B&P is "fixed".

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
It's actually from the Lego Boost Star Wars set (on R2's head and the Gonk Droid).

71044 Disney Train and Station
There's no cab floor because Mickey's ears require extra height. So you put him on the CMF stand on the "driving bogie" instead. A bit weird, yeah, but necessary.

Take this with a HUGE grain of salt
This was believable... Until the last two sentences. They tried to use Faber's name to give legitimacy to the story, but when you think of it, it doesn't make sense. Christian Faber started to post artworks on Instagram in April because he wants to relaunch Bionicle. He said he hadn't met with Lego, he wasn't sure it would actually happen, or even that the name would remain Bionicle, but no, he's actually pulling a switcheroo, and these artworks are in fact teasers for a theme he worked on that will be released in 2020. So he had to lie because of a supposed NDA that doesn't really matter anyway since he's allowed to post artwork online. Why ? To prepare the few remaining Bionicle fans for this theme, taking the risk to alienate them if they find out he mocked them. Perhaps all of it will turn out to be true, but as long as I haven't seen official pictures of those sets, I won't believe anything about any possible future Constraction theme.

71044 Disney Train and Station
I wrote that review on NE, so it's my fault if it's not entirely clear. The driving wheels are indeed on a separate bogie (notice how a 30552 is used to limit the rotation, it's a nice trick) : The locomotive can't take curves if you fix the driving wheels to the boiler. You can always replace the first pair of wheels with blind wheels, but even that way there will be friction, and if it's the second pair of wheels you replace, they will hang in the air and it looks ridiculous.

So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
I must have mentioned it already in the Action Figure subforum, but I'd love to see something similar to Code Lyoko. There would be a team of four or six teens (two / three boys and two / three girls) who would go into a virtual world and fight monsters. It could simply be for a game, or to fight an evil entity (or perhaps both, like the IA that controls the ennemies in a MMORPG went mad and threatens the whole internet). There would be a set for the virtual version of each character (and perhaps a minifig of their real-life selves ?), sets for various-sized monsters, and the sets could work with an app like Hidden Side so the heroes would actually fight in the virtual world.

So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
Well, there's been BIONICLE and Hero Factory vehicles before, so a Classic Space Constraction theme could have spaceships. Not big ones, but still. But it doesn't matter anyway, since according to this (most probably fake) story, Lego didn't retain this theme. And I, for one, won't believe there's a new Constraction theme coming next year until I see official pictures of it.

So, what are Leaf, IP-2 and Zebra?
Simply Action Figure. I'd like that. But a bigger scale would allow more details, so perhaps it would rather be busts like this year's promotional SW sets ?

General Part Discussion
Leewan replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingIt's just a molding issue, like this helmet, or that leg. That sort of thing happened to me once, one of the tread links from a 8259 was "incomplete", as if there weren't enough plastic injected in the mold. I'm sure I still have it somewhere, so I'll make a pic if I find it.

Online Rendering
It took me some time to get a nice result, and it's still far from being perfet, but I've managed to make two renders with the volumetric lighting. The images resized by Flickr don't really do justice to the original renders, unfortunately, so I'd suggest checking them in full size by clicking the links below each picture. (Full size) (Full size) For those who are interested, there's more renders of this MOC on Flickr.

General Part Discussion
Leewan replied to Polo-Freak's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingBoth of the new Overwatch sets (to be released in October) will feature Technic parts in new colours : • 75976 has at least one 3M axle with stud in yellow (as well as four Hordika necks in orange, if you count them as Technic parts). • 75977 has at least two cams in yellow, and at least two sprockets in either dark orange or medium nougat / medium dark flesh.

[PRESS RELEASE] 75936 - Jurassic Park
No you're not. I loved the set 4507 when I was a kid, and was longing to see another big brick-built Tyrannosaurus like that (I mean, there have been a lot of dinosaur-themed Creator sets since then, but I think 4507 was the best). This rendition of Rexy is excellent, and I would have loved to be able to get her alone. Not that I don't like the gate, though, but I simply don't care enough for it to want to buy it.
