Technic 2014 Discussion and Speculation
kevman replied to Tacker's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI can attest to the fact that the power puller wheels are not all that they are hyped up to be. I have a difficult time using them on my 8466 and even my 41999. They do look great , but not worth it if you want to actually play with the set that is using them. I really hope those wheels in the second pic are 9398 or 41999 size.

Live Axle Discussion
kevman replied to MrNumbskull13's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI build the live axle from Sheepo's MPS system and It is pretty good. I wish that I could incorporate lego Hubs into it becuase the wheels tend to be too wobbly on a single axle.

Motorized car MOCs: what factors most affect performance?
kevman replied to Hrafn's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingYes I agree 1000% on this statement. I loved the idea of gearboxes but have nver successfully implemented them in any of my larger models and I have come to find that I really did not need to.

Ferrari Enzo
kevman replied to Sariel's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingHappy New Year! This is excellent. Very cool video and model. I have the 8653 and planned to RC it in a similar way that you did your Ford GT with RC buggy motor's receiver and steering. But this looks amazing! thank you for sharing your creations!

Motorized car MOCs: what factors most affect performance?
kevman replied to Hrafn's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingweight is the biggest issue. I attempted to motorize the 8466 but the results were not great. too much grinding. Additinally the suspenstion is not inherently desgined for motorization. I have started building Sheepo's MPS system to build a chassis and I am pretty pleased with the motorization on that. Worth checking out if you have not already.

Review: 8880 Super Car
kevman replied to BerndDasBrot's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modelingas much as I appreciate that this set was ahead of its time, I don't get why this is more popular then the 8448. I think the 8448 looks much better. awd and 4ws are nice and all, but highly overrated when comparing the two sets. As a fan and owner of an american muscle car, I have to say that you are way off base. This does not come close to looking like an american muscle car.

Modification and improvements of 41999. Pimp my BOSS!
yup. I see no advantage to them. they have to be mounted backwards because of they offset and I actually prefer the look of the original wheels to them.

Autopump
kevman replied to Zerobricks's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI just built this for use in my rock crawler. I've tried several other ones that are out there and this by far is the best and most compact of them all. Many thanks for the idea!

Pneumatic Autovalve - non clicking
Pvdb, Just built your autovalve. A few questions, the mount point you show for the stationary end of the pump, did that work for you ? I had to modify mine and move it one stud down in order to get the pump to work and produce enough air pressure to move my pistons. Also, mine does click at one end, not sure if my worm gear can be mounted in such a way as to avoid the clicking. Other then that, I have it mounted in my crawler and it will power my air suspension. I love the design, it is pretty compact and doesn't require many parts which is nice.

Lego Power Functions Pneumatic Compressor in 9398 4x4 Crawler
kevman replied to DLuders's post in a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale ModelingI think I can reverse engineer that compressor, but If anyone has instructions for the compressor, please PM me. Thanks! I am going to put this into my 41999, I love the gear change implementation.
